My Hacker Roommate is a Yandere - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Before my mother and stepfather left for their world tour, they told Ji Huaiye to take good care of me.
My Skin Hunger Syndrome was acting up, making every night unbearable.
To find some relief, I took several showers every night, my skin turning bright red from the scalding hot water.
Ji Huaiye heard the sound of water coming from my bathroom again and knocked on the door.
“Sheng Zhi, just how many showers are you going to take?” he asked impatiently. “Is your body really that dirty?”
I turned off the faucet and answered guiltily, “I… I just don’t feel well.”
My skin was starved, desperate for someone to touch.
Hot water provided a temporary reprieve, but it wasn’t enough.
Ji Huaiye’s voice deepened. “Where exactly do you feel unwell?”
I wrapped myself in a bath towel and opened the bathroom door.
He frowned as he looked at my flushed skin. “Are you trying to scald yourself to death?”
My cheeks were pink, and my eyes were misty. “The hot water on my skin… it feels good.”
“There’s something wrong with you. Don’t do this again,” Ji Huaiye said, averting his gaze.
I noticed the tips of his ears turn red for a split second.
As Ji Huaiye turned to leave, I grabbed his arm.
“Ji Huaiye, don’t go. Could you…” I bit my lip.
The words were on the tip of my tongue, but I was too ashamed to say them.
Ji Huaiye stopped and looked down at his arm. “Could I what?”
“Could you… give me a hug?” The last few words were barely audible.
I thought he hadn’t heard me.
He remained silent for a full thirty seconds before finally speaking in a low voice. “Sheng Zhi, I’m your brother. Please remember your place.”
I summoned my courage and said, “We aren’t even related by blood.”
“Besides, didn’t we use to hug when we were dating?”
“Anyway, our parents aren’t home. Just give me a hug.”
“My Skin Hunger Syndrome is acting up. It really hurts…”
Ji Huaiye interrupted me. “Skin Hunger Syndrome? I think you’re suffering from delusions.”
He spoke with righteous indignation. “Sheng Zhi, there is no possibility of us getting back together. Don’t use such a lame excuse to lie to me.”
I froze and let go of his arm. “Fine,” I said, crestfallen. “I understand.”
Ji Huaiye and I were boyfriend and girlfriend in college.
After we broke up, my mother married his father.
We became siblings in name only.
However, our names weren’t on the same household register.
By tacit agreement, neither of us ever mentioned that brief, youthful first love.
A year ago, Ji Huaiye had asked me to get back together.
I had rejected him.
I liked the yandere type, and he wasn’t that.
At the time, I told him, “Ji Huaiye, I’m your sister. There is no possibility of us getting back together.”
I didn’t expect him to throw the exact words I had said back at me.
After graduating from college, Ji Huaiye started working at the Ji Group.
I heard from my mother that he was very close to his secretary, Song Zhenzhen.
Maybe it was because he had someone new that he didn’t want me touching him.
Or maybe it was because our relationship had left him traumatized.
I closed the bathroom door, turned the shower back on, and dialed the temperature to the highest setting.
But then, Ji Huaiye shut off the water main.
“From now on, you’re only allowed one shower a day,” he said coldly from outside the door. “Otherwise, I’ll keep the water shut off.”
I was in genuine agony.
That night, I lay under the covers, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Ji Huaiye’s room was right next to mine.
He sent me a text: [Can you settle down? If you keep this up, move out.]
I thought about it for a moment and typed a reply: [Fine. I’ll move out tomorrow.]
