My Obsessive Master Has Too Many Avatars - Chapter 1
A cool hand touched my cheek. I shuddered at the chill.
I looked up into smiling eyes.
The face was different, but deep in that smile, I caught a familiar glint of malice.
“D-discovered what?”
Fighting down my fear, I fumbled for an excuse to leave.
“I just remembered—my junior brother told me to come home for dinner. I won’t trouble you any longer, Venerable.”
Juyang raised an eyebrow. He didn’t stop me.
Once, I had truly loved Fuchen.
I had been only a few years old when my family abandoned me after the immortal sects tested my constitution and spiritual roots.
A worthless constitution. Impure spiritual roots. A malformed body, neither male nor female.
I was the legitimate son of the family, yet even our servants had more talent than I did.
I had nowhere to go. No immortal sect would take me, and I couldn’t go home.
That was when Fuchen picked me up and took me with him.
His features were exquisite, his expression gentle, his robes white as snow. But the fallen immortal’s mark on his forehead was as red as blood.
I was too young to understand how dangerous he was. I thought he’d saved me.
So I clung to him.
He taught me to read and cultivate. He scoured every secret art he could find to turn my useless spiritual roots into the finest there were.
As I grew up, he was my father, my mother, my brother, my friend. He alone filled every important role in my life.
But his love suffocated me.
One extra glance at someone else, one extra smile, and he would fly into a rage.
Later, my family came to me. If I betrayed Fuchen, I could become a hero of the immortal world, one of its most celebrated talents.
I wanted recognition so badly. I wanted freedom.
So…
I barely hesitated before drugging him.
After we dual-cultivated, he let his guard down around me more than ever. Getting him to tell me his fatal weakness was easy.
I turned around and told the immortal sects.
Then they sealed him away.
I tore back to my sect as if a dog were chasing me. After turning it over and over in my head, I decided to check the seal myself. Seeing was believing.
Miasma shrouded the mountain behind the sect. Not a blade of grass grew there, and the air was thick with resentment.
I edged forward cautiously.
After a long walk, I spotted the seal in the distance. It was still there.
I had just begun to relax when more comments rolled past.
[He actually believes it? That seal’s just an illusion to fool him.]
[Hehe, it’s fine if he doesn’t find out. Once he keeps picking fights with the male lead and gets driven into a corner, he’ll have no choice but to beg his master for protection. Then Fuchen can force his love on him.]
[So trashy. I love it! Hehehe!]
I hesitated for a long time, then kept going.
If the seal was still intact, getting a little closer wouldn’t hurt. If it wasn’t, running wouldn’t help, no matter how far I went.
I reached out to touch the barrier.
My fingers passed straight through.
Panic seized me. Before I could react, I fell into an embrace scented with a delicate fragrance.
“A-Bai. After all these years, you finally remembered to visit your master.”
Cold fingers slid into my hair. The next instant, his lips covered mine.
Before long, I was slumped against Fuchen.
He chuckled beside my ear, then bit the base of it.
“Good. Your body still remembers me.”
A tingling numbness ran through me. Humiliated, I lowered my head.
He lifted my chin, bringing that devastatingly beautiful face close to mine.
“What’s that look for? Is loving your master so shameful?”
My mind dissolved into a muddle. Dazed and confused, I passed out.
When I woke again, I was lying by the seal, drenched in sweat. There was a wet patch on my trousers.
My face burned. Had I had a wet dream, or…?
The comments were puzzled.
[Why did the villain suddenly pass out?]
[Ah, to be young. Out like a light.]
[Looks like there’s an illusion realm set up around this barrier. He must’ve walked into it.]
I shifted. Nothing felt wrong with my body.
So it had only been an illusion?
I swallowed, remembering what had happened in the dream.
Yes. An illusion. It had to be.
There was no way I’d have a sex dream about Fuchen.
I went on inspecting the seal. It was perfectly intact, and no illusion either. At last, I let out a long breath of relief.
Apparently, these words weren’t always right.
I had just returned to the sect when I ran into my junior brother, Que Nian.
His gaze settled on my lips, his eyes darkening. “Senior Brother, why are your lips swollen?”
I thought about it. Perhaps I’d bitten them myself in the illusion.
“Bumped into something,” I said vaguely.
[Terrible excuse,] a comment jeered.
[Wait, what’s up with the male lead? Is it just me, or is he looking at the villain kind of weirdly?]
[You’re overthinking it. This is a male-protagonist power fantasy. What else could it be? He wants to kill him.]
[Kill him? Since when does murderous intent look that thirsty?]
[This wasn’t in the original novel. Besides, the villain only feels jealous of him. Even if the male lead is flirting, he’s flirting with a brick wall.]
[La la la, I can’t hear you! I don’t believe it. The male lead doesn’t mean it like that.]
My scalp prickled as I read. I stepped back instinctively.
Even the thought was unbearable.
“Would you like some ointment, Senior Brother?”
Que Nian took a porcelain vial from inside his robes, watching me with an intensity that burned.
Maybe the comments had gotten to me, because now even I felt there was something wrong with the way he looked at me.
“No need. It’ll go down in a bit.”
I fled back to my cave residence.
