My Partner Is a Little Golden Python - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
When I went home for the Spring Festival, I found a twelve-meter-long golden python in the family’s ancestral hall.
The golden python was hibernating, coiled up in a huge mass under our family altar.
While I was making offerings with Grandpa, I spotted the tip of its golden tail peeking out.
After Grandpa left, I sneaked back, lifted the cloth hanging down from the altar, and saw the snake curled up inside.
The golden python, over ten meters long and so thick I could barely wrap my arms around it, was fast asleep beneath the warm, fragrant air of winter.
I touched its scales; the golden scales grew more tempting the longer I looked. They felt cool beneath my fingers. I stared for a long time before sighing.
After all, I can’t raise it in the city, so I might as well just pluck a scale this year and take it back.
My hand roamed, choosing carefully, until I finally settled on a pure golden scale on its lower back.
Skillfully, I pried the scale apart with my fingers, touching the skin underneath.
I gripped it tight and yanked with all my might. Halfway through, the snake beneath my hand seemed to stir. I quickly put in more strength. Just as the scale came free, I heard a muffled grunt.
Looking up, I realized the snake was already awake, gazing at me with resentful eyes:
“Are you going to steal my scales again this year, Sis?”
I hurriedly hid my hand behind my back and straightened up, looking at him:
“I didn’t. That’s a blatant slander.”
The golden python sounded even more aggrieved, his voice pitiful and wretched:
“If you want to pull a scale, just pull it. It’s not like I wouldn’t give it to you. But why do you have to pick the lower back? Sis, it hurts!”
I guiltily rubbed my nose. The scales on his lower back are the prettiest!
But what does a little snake know about a waist? I was about to put my hands on my hips and retort that a little snake who hasn’t transformed doesn’t have a waist.
In the next second, he had wrapped his tail around me and brought his entire snake body closer:
“I haven’t seen you for a whole year, Sis. Hug me, quick.”
His entire snake body coiled around me, pinning me down. His head slipped through my down jacket and burrowed into my embrace, nudging my ticklish spots through my sweater, making me laugh until I curled up.
Laughing so hard it hurt, I helplessly tugged at the tip of his tail wrapped around my waist.
“Xu Tuan, quit messing around. Get off.”
“No. How long has it been since I saw you? You see me and instead of giving me a kiss, you pluck my scales. That’s so mean!”
He was so heavy-it seemed like he’d grown even bigger this year. I laughed and scolded him, but hearing his mournful words, I just wanted him to get off me quickly:
“Let go of me, and I’ll give you a kiss.”
As soon as I finished speaking, the big snake instantly moved off me and coiled obediently in front of me, leaning only his head closer:
“Sis, kiss.”
I pinched him gently, then bent down and kissed him between the eyes. The moment our skin touched, he couldn’t help but flinch back. I heard his breathing grow ragged.
The little snake tried to retreat, but a mischievous impulse made me lean in and plant a few more kisses.
He couldn’t pull away, so he pushed back against me, and when he spoke, his voice was breathless.
“Sis… Sis… you’re bullying me…”
“Didn’t you ask for a kiss?”
He had nothing to say and just glared at me, puffing with indignation. I couldn’t help but laugh. What a little golden snake-so bad at this but loves to play!
