Summary
After five hundred years of cultivation, a snake still has two urgent concerns: becoming immortal and finding her next meal. Caught stealing an immortal’s chickens, she agrees to guard his precious herb for three years. Her little green companion offers comfort, companionship, and a welcome distraction from her endless appetite. Between suspicious visitors, a parrot with far too much romantic advice, and a contract that deserves a closer reading, life in the herb garden is anything but peaceful. Somewhere along the way, keeping watch over a little plant becomes much more than a job.
