My Sugar Daddy Is My Son's Father - Chapter 3
Afterward, Yan Yi went to take another cold shower.
Once I had recovered a little, I picked up my phone and began replying to messages.
The contact saved as **Mom** had several new voice messages, all sent by Yueyue.
The moment I tapped one, his soft little voice filled the room.
“Daddy, I fell down at kindergarten today, but I didn’t cwy. Teacher praised me.”
Message after message followed, each one describing something he had done that day.
My heart melted as I listened.
He spent a long time working up to it, but in the final message, he still couldn’t stop himself from asking, “Daddy, when are you coming home? I miss you.”
He was still so young, at the age when children clung tightly to their parents. One day apart was already enough to make him miss me.
I was about to reply when Yan Yi’s voice suddenly came from behind me.
“Who was that? Why did I hear a child?”
My body went rigid.
I immediately backed out of the chat and locked my screen. Turning around, I found Yan Yi climbing into bed after his shower.
My heart hammered, but I dared not show the slightest trace of panic.
“You heard wrong. I was watching a video.”
He raised an eyebrow but did not think much of it. “Were you?”
That night, we fell asleep in each other’s arms as usual.
Remembering Yueyue’s message, I ventured, “I… I’d like to go home tomorrow. Is that all right?”
Yan Yi’s eyes opened again. He frowned, displeased.
“Isn’t it too soon? You’re going back again?”
He bit my ear in irritation and muttered, “What, do you have a wife and child waiting for you there?”
My breath caught. “Of course not.”
Yan Yi gave two soft, humorless laughs. “The way you behave, I’m starting to wonder if you have a second home besides mine.”
My heart nearly leaped from my chest.
I hurriedly leaned over and kissed him. “I don’t. Someone in my family fell, and I want to check on them.”
My kisses smoothed away his temper. In the end, he agreed.
“You really don’t have another home?”
I lowered my gaze, doing my best to look perfectly innocent. “No.”
“If you do, you’re dead.”
“…”
Yan Yi’s father hated me.
In his eyes, two men being together was unnatural. He continued introducing Yan Yi to one woman after another, but Yan Yi ignored every one of them.
Yan Yi told me wherever he went and whatever he was doing.
Just like now.
**Be good, sweetheart. I’ll bring you something delicious when I get back.**
He had gone to headquarters for a meeting that day. Though he had only just left, he had already sent me dozens of messages.
Amused and a little helpless, I replied, **All right.**
After sitting for too long, I put away my phone and headed to the break room for some hot water.
As soon as I reached the door, I heard my coworkers gossiping about Yan Yi.
“I’m telling you, it’s true. Mr. Yan’s childhood sweetheart just came back from abroad. The moment his meeting ended, he went on a date with her.”
“No wonder there has never been a woman at his side. So his heart belonged to someone all along.”
“I’ve got a photo. Look.”
I froze in front of the water dispenser, forgetting why I had come.
“Hey, Jiang Mian, aren’t you close to Mr. Yan? Take a look. Do you know this woman?”
They pulled me over, and I saw the picture on my coworker’s phone.
I did not know the woman. The man beside her, however, was unmistakably Yan Yi.
They were both beautiful, standing side by side like a perfectly matched couple.
I forced an awkward smile. “Sorry. I don’t know her.”
“Oh. All right.”
I left the break room in a daze and took out my phone to message Yan Yi.
**What are you doing?**
His reply came almost immediately. **In a meeting. Why?**
But the meeting was already over.
He was lying to me.
Cold swept through my entire body.
At last, Yan Yi’s strange behavior seemed to have an explanation. The person he loved had returned.
So he no longer needed me.
We were only in a sugar arrangement. Whom he loved and whom he chose to be with were none of my business.
He had deceived me, but hadn’t I hidden just as much from him?
All I could write was, **Nothing.**
Yet a boulder seemed to settle on my chest, making it difficult to breathe.
