After listening, Shen Que’s dark eyes deepened slightly, but he didn’t answer Meng Zhiyi’s question.

He didn’t know why Meng Zhiyi harbored such malice toward Song Wei, nor did he understand why she was so certain that he liked Song Wei.

Of course, Shen Que was even more puzzled as to why he had foolishly gotten involved in her affairs.

Therefore, he had no interest in responding to Meng Zhiyi’s suspicions and interrogations.

“I’ve said what I needed to. Whether you listen or not is up to you.”

With that, Shen Que turned and left.

Meng Zhiyi stood where she was, rolled her eyes at Shen Que’s departing back, and muttered under her breath, “Who do you think you are? Why should I listen to you?”

“Hmph!”

With a cold snort, she turned and walked in another direction, recalling how Zhou Kai had threatened her earlier, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.

Zhou Kai…

Anyone who dares lay a hand on me-the grass on their grave is already taller than a person.

Two days later, the evening sunlight had not yet fully faded.

Meng Zhiyi changed into a set of black casual clothes, donned a baseball cap, and arrived outside a bar called Nightfall.

She had already asked Xiao Ba from the System and learned that Zhou Kai and a group of wealthy heirs liked to hang out here.

After arriving, Meng Zhiyi paid a waiter to deliver a message to Zhou Kai.

She waited a few minutes. As the last rays of light disappeared and darkness fell, the alley behind the bar was dimly lit. Meng Zhiyi leaned against the wall with one hand in her pocket, the streetlamp above just flickering on, casting a small shadow from her cap brim over her palm-sized face.

Soon, hurried footsteps approached from afar.

Meng Zhiyi’s lips curled slightly; she reached up to press her cap lower.

“The waiter said it was you?” Zhou Kai walked over alone, stopping two or three meters from Meng Zhiyi, scrutinizing the figure dressed all in black.

Before the words had fully left his mouth, Zhou Kai spoke again: “Who are you? Why would Weiwei send you here?”

Meng Zhiyi let out a light chuckle, deliberately lowering her voice to sound a bit like a young man: “If I didn’t say that, how else could I trick you out here?”

Zhou Kai’s expression flickered with confusion for a second, then realization dawned and anger flashed in his eyes. He gritted his teeth, “Playing games with me?”

Meng Zhiyi straightened up, her plastered hand hidden inside the loose baseball jacket, the other hand in her pocket. She tilted her head toward Zhou Kai, her tone openly provocative.

“That’s right, I’m messing with you. So what?”

Faced with someone whose face and identity were obscured, and hearing such provocative words, Zhou Kai couldn’t help but let out a humorless laugh, pressing his tongue against his cheek in annoyance.

“Do you know who I am? Tired of living, coming here to pick a fight with me?”

Meng Zhiyi responded with a dismissive “Oh,” her tone mocking: “Song Wei’s lapdog, who else could you be?”

Before Zhou Kai could retort, Meng Zhiyi deliberately dragged out another “Oh,” then continued, “Actually, a loyal lapdog would be more accurate.”

Although Zhou Kai had never denied his one-sided feelings for Song Wei, and didn’t care that others called him a lapdog,

Because in his eyes, everything he did was simply his most sincere expression of affection for Song Wei.

But for some reason, at this moment, hearing this person call him a lapdog, a surge of inexplicable anger erupted in Zhou Kai’s heart.

Unable to hold back, Zhou Kai swung his fist and charged forward, his eyes blazing with fury: “You’re asking for it!”

This was exactly the reaction Meng Zhiyi wanted.

Seeing Zhou Kai already enraged and losing control, she easily dodged his swinging fist and grabbed the hand that brushed past her ear.

As a member of the Zhou Family, Zhou Kai had undergone extensive training since childhood to protect himself, and was skilled at fighting-his long-standing source of pride.

Yet now, facing someone smaller and even delicate in stature, who effortlessly dodged his attack, Zhou Kai was genuinely surprised.

But before he could react, his abdomen took a direct hit.

“Ugh-!!!”

He doubled over uncontrollably, clutching his stomach where her knee had struck, groaning in pain.

Meng Zhiyi gave him no chance to recover, immediately swinging her fist into Zhou Kai’s cheek.

The force and pain left Zhou Kai’s mind blank, his body collapsing to the side from the impact.

With a thud, Zhou Kai staggered into a parked electric scooter and then fell to the ground.

He braced himself with his hands, shaking his dizzy head forcefully to clear it.

“Weren’t you pretty arrogant before? Even hit a woman. So why are you lying there like a dog now?” Meng Zhiyi stood a short distance away, continuing to mock him.

Zhou Kai glared up at her viciously, trying hard to make out her face.

Right now, all he could think about was her calling him a dog.

He lowered his eyes gloomily, glancing at the corner of the wall where several empty beer bottles lay.

His anger mounting, Zhou Kai first grabbed a fallen helmet and hurled it at Meng Zhiyi, then snatched up an empty bottle and lunged at her.

Meng Zhiyi dodged the helmet, then saw Zhou Kai swinging the bottle at her. Instinctively, she raised her plastered hand to block.

With a crack, the bottle shattered against the plaster.
Seeing this, something flashed quickly through Zhou Kai’s mind, but before he could grasp it, another kick landed on his abdomen.

He staggered back, and the fleeting thought vanished without a trace.

Staring at the person before him, he gritted his teeth and mocked, “So you do have hands. I thought you were a cripple.”

Meng Zhiyi brushed shards of glass from her sleeve, listening to Zhou Kai’s taunt, and replied disdainfully, “Even with one hand, I can beat you like a dog.”

“Damn it!”

Zhou Kai cursed angrily and charged forward again without another word.

In the dim alley, cries of pain echoed, and as the sounds of scuffling faded, only the man’s wails remained.

Meng Zhiyi stepped on Zhou Kai’s chest, leaning down slightly as he groaned in pain. Under the yellowish light, only half of her delicate face was visible.

But at this moment, Zhou Kai was already dazed from the beating, his vision blurred, unable to make out who was in front of him.

“Today is just a small lesson. If you keep pestering Song Wei, every time I see you, I’ll beat you.”

Meng Zhiyi deliberately left him with a pointed warning, then glanced disdainfully at Zhou Kai, who lay on the ground like a dead dog, and strode away.

With the help of the System, she avoided the surrounding surveillance cameras, hailed a cab, and prepared to return to school.

Meng Zhiyi was about to tell the driver her destination when she noticed that her recently replaced cast had cracked again.

Suppressing her frustration, she cursed under her breath, then said to the driver, “Sir, to the hospital.”

Hospital.

Meng Zhiyi faced the doctor with an awkward smile.

“I really didn’t get into a fight.” She held up three fingers, solemnly assuring him once again.

As she made her promise, the doctor used tweezers to remove a small shard of glass.

“…” Meng Zhiyi immediately fell silent.

The doctor looked at her helplessly, speaking earnestly, “You don’t want your hand to heal, do you? If this keeps happening, forget about recovery.”

Meng Zhiyi obediently shook her head, lacking confidence as she said, “I fell off my bike by accident this time.”

The doctor gave her a look that clearly said, ‘Do you think I believe that?’

Meng Zhiyi decided it was best to keep quiet and said nothing more.

After the doctor re-secured her cast and gave her repeated instructions, she nodded and bowed as she left the treatment room.

Meng Zhiyi hurried toward the elevator. As the doors opened, she was met by Meng Zhizhou, who was supporting a beautiful woman in professional attire.

The siblings locked eyes, neither expecting to meet at this time or under these circumstances.

“What are you doing here?”

They spoke in unison.

The woman beside Meng Zhizhou looked at them both in confusion.

“President Meng, who is this?”

As soon as she spoke, Meng Zhizhou withdrew his hand from her and pulled Meng Zhiyi aside.

“Why aren’t you at school at this hour? What are you doing at the hospital?” Meng Zhizhou frowned, sounding every bit the elder.

Meng Zhiyi blinked and immediately replied obediently, “My stomach’s a bit upset, so I came to get some medicine.”

Meng Zhizhou was skeptical and wanted to ask more, but then he heard Meng Zhiyi’s inner voice.

[The woman Eldest Brother was holding just now must be the spy planted by his nemesis, right?]

Meng Zhizhou: “???”

When did he hold her?!

Wait!

Meng Zhizhou’s eyes flickered as he glanced at the woman without betraying his thoughts.

His secretary is a spy?!

As the thought settled, Meng Zhizhou struggled to suppress the urge to question her, but before he could say anything, a strange sound caught his attention.

The siblings looked in the direction of the noise and saw a figure slip into the stairwell.

Meng Zhizhou frowned and told Meng Zhiyi to stay put, then walked over.

Meng Zhiyi obediently stayed where she was, a smile on her lips.

[Looks like someone’s up to something again. Let’s see what tricks they’re playing this time.]

Hearing her thoughts, Meng Zhizhou was a bit puzzled, but he still checked the stairwell. Finding no trace of the person, he turned back.

He then called his Assistant to accompany the secretary and personally drove Meng Zhiyi back to school.

On the way, Meng Zhizhou nearly asked about the secretary several times, but to avoid revealing that he could hear his sister’s thoughts, he held back.

The car stopped at the school gate. Meng Zhizhou wanted to say a few more words, but Meng Zhiyi had already opened the door and jumped out.

“Eldest Brother, it’s getting late. You should head home.”

With that, she ran off without looking back.

Meng Zhizhou watched her retreating figure and sighed softly.

Girls’ Dormitory.

Meng Zhiyi coaxed the Dormitory Matron into opening the door for her, quickly washed up after returning to her room, and collapsed into bed.

Unbeknownst to her, the internet was already in an uproar.

The next morning, Shen Que was awakened by the sound of WeChat notifications.

He opened WeChat, and Song Wei’s chat jumped to the top.

[Shen Que, check Weibo quickly. Something seems to have happened to Meng Zhiyi…]

Seeing this message, Shen Que’s drowsiness faded. He exited WeChat and logged onto Weibo.

As soon as he clicked in, the trending headline and photo on the homepage caught his eye.

[The Jing Circle Prince’s fiancée spotted at the hospital late at night with a man, suspected abortion!]
