Meng Zhiyi didn’t look like she was joking with them. She tapped the rolled-up book against her palm, her gaze sharp as she stared at the group in front of her, counting down aloud.

Class time was approaching, and students were gradually finding seats, casting curious glances in their direction.

The girl following behind Miss Zhang glanced around, then leaned in to whisper something in her ear.

As if she’d found an excuse to retreat, Miss Zhang shot an unwilling glare at Lin Luoluo behind Meng Zhiyi, then threw out a warning before strutting off with her entourage.

Meng Zhiyi let out a cold sneer, tossed the book onto the desk, and sat back down, resuming her nap.

Lin Luoluo watched the whole scene, completely at a loss. She wanted to thank Meng Zhiyi for stepping in, but seeing her immediately lie down to sleep, she didn’t dare disturb her.

With no other choice, Lin Luoluo simply continued sitting beside her.

In the original novel, Meng Zhiyi had poor grades and rarely showed up in class at all.

The teachers always turned a blind eye to her truancy, let alone her sleeping in the classroom.

Today, the professor was absent for some reason, and the substitute was one of the professor’s students.

As the bell finished ringing, Meng Zhiyi slowly lifted her head.

Rubbing her eyes, she caught sight of the textbook Lin Luoluo had brought for her and murmured a quiet thank you.

Lin Luoluo was a little flustered by the unexpected gratitude and quickly waved her hand, “No need to thank me.”

Meng Zhiyi lazily flipped open the book, just about to put on a show of paying attention, when a voice dripping with sarcasm rang out from the podium.

“Well, well, our school’s internet-famous heiress finally decided to show up. What’s this, turning over a new leaf and ready to study hard?”

“Honestly, people should know their place. No matter how privileged your background, you ought to keep a low profile. If you rely solely on family connections, you’ll never be worthy of a good partner.”

It was easy to hear the hostility toward Meng Zhiyi in the substitute’s words.

Meeting the other’s mocking gaze, Meng Zhiyi curled her lips slightly, closed her book, and leaned back in her chair.

She stared straight at the woman, who looked to be in her early twenties, dressed fashionably and sporting several designer labels-but compared to the original host, she was far inferior.

Though Meng Zhiyi didn’t care much for brands, she could tell at a glance that the labels on this woman were the cheapest ones.

What amused Meng Zhiyi was that, although this person was a few years older than Shen Que, she had a good professor as her mentor and had crossed paths with Shen Que many times in academic discussions.

It wouldn’t be surprising if she had some feelings for Shen Que as well.

Originally, Meng Zhiyi had come to class out of respect for the teacher, even if she didn’t like studying.

But since someone insisted on provoking her, she certainly wouldn’t let the opportunity slip by.

After all, her mission target was at this school.

Thinking of this, she pulled a faint smile and said lightly, “What, are you one of Shen Que’s countless fangirls too? Oh dear, I just happened to be born lucky-without doing anything, I get to be his legitimate fiancée.”

“According to your logic, instead of mocking me here, you’d be better off burying yourself in your studies, working hard to find some academic topics to discuss with Shen Que, and showing up in front of him more often. Who knows, maybe he’ll even remember your name.”

“You’re talking nonsense!” The woman, her secret exposed, bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

In contrast to her outburst, Meng Zhiyi kept smiling throughout, not the least bit annoyed.
She chuckled softly, her tone as casual as chatting with a friend, and continued, “Why not? Liking someone isn’t shameful, and besides, Shen Que is truly outstanding. Family background, talent and looks, intelligence and ability-every aspect is impeccable.”

“You liking him only proves my fiancé is too excellent. It’s not like I’m going to eat you, right?”

The girl’s face flushed red. She had mocked Meng Zhiyi before, but had never been retorted like this.

She thought Meng Zhiyi would just endure it silently as always, but unexpectedly, this time she was humiliated in front of the whole class.

“Why aren’t you talking? Weren’t you quite talkative just now? Or did I hit a sore spot and now you’re embarrassed?”

Except for her mission targets, Meng Zhiyi always followed the principle of not offending others unless provoked.

But since she’d been targeted, there was no reason to suffer in silence.

She crossed her legs, her posture both uninhibited and carefree, and continued, “Look at you. The professor asked you to substitute teach, so just do your job well. Why do you have to provoke me?”

“You can’t outtalk me, your family background can’t compare to mine, and besides good grades, what else do you have?”

“Are you relying on those low-end designer brands you picked up from the second-hand market?”

“Am I right?”

Meng Zhiyi mercilessly tore away the last layer of the girl’s dignity. Just like how, countless times before, she had been humiliated by the original host in any situation.

She didn’t care how aggrieved the original host had been, but now that she was the master of this body, no one would step on her again.

Standing at the podium, the girl felt the stares of the whole class, like needles pricking her back.

She bit her lip hard, stood awkwardly for a while, and finally couldn’t take it anymore, fleeing the classroom.

Seeing the girl run off, Meng Zhiyi clicked her tongue in boredom.

[If nothing unexpected happens, my Second Brother should be making his entrance soon, right?]

[I’m a bit curious-what kind of surprise will he give me at our first meeting?]

Sure enough, just as Meng Zhiyi expected, the girl exaggerated what had happened and told her professor and advisor.

Coincidentally, the professor was fiercely protective of his students, and soon reported the matter to Meng Yiyang.

When Meng Zhiyi was summoned to the office, the atmosphere inside was like a tribunal.

Meng Yiyang was twenty-seven this year, the youngest professor at A University. He had studied and developed abroad for years, and after achieving outstanding academic success, was appointed as a professor upon returning to China.

His looks resembled Meng Zhizhou, but his temperament was different. Compared to the domineering Eldest Brother and the forensic Third Brother, Meng Yiyang gave off a gentle, scholarly vibe.

Meng Zhiyi looked at her Second Brother, whom she was meeting for the first time, her eyes full of scrutiny.

To be fair, the Meng Family’s genes were impressive. Among the children, each excelled in their own field-except for the original host, who was a complete mess.

“Professor Meng, she’s here. Let her speak.”

The speaker was an elderly man in his fifties, with only a few strands of hair on his head, thick old-fashioned glasses, dressed in a black Zhongshan suit, and a stern expression.

Meng Yiyang’s expression was indifferent, and when he looked at Meng Zhiyi, a barely noticeable trace of displeasure flashed in his eyes.

Yes, just like his other brothers, Meng Yiyang didn’t like this sister who had been found and brought back.

To be precise, it wasn’t just dislike-it was aversion.
