“With such a commotion, I thought your skin was just dug up from the ground.” Meng Zhiyi stood to the side, arms crossed, her smile tinged with sarcasm.

She had only come over to help Lin Luoluo out of a tight spot, but as she got closer, she realized the woman here was another of Song Wei’s best friends.

The young lady of the Jiang Family, Jiang Yuhuan.

In the book, Jiang Yuhuan was described as arrogant and willful, even more so than the original protagonist, who was portrayed as the vicious supporting character.

Jiang Yuhuan had been raised abroad since she was a child and only returned to China five years ago, where she met Song Wei. The two quickly became sisters who shared everything with each other.

Though she always acted superior to everyone else, she was completely accommodating only to Song Wei.

Although Jiang Yuhuan had never met Meng Zhiyi, she had already heard about her from Song Wei.

In the original book, Jiang Yuhuan fell in love with Shen Que at first sight, but at that time Shen Que and Song Wei were already in a relationship, so she could only bury those feelings deep inside her heart.

And as for the original protagonist’s tragic fate in the end, Jiang Yuhuan’s instigation played no small part.

Her thoughts settled, Meng Zhiyi first glanced down at Lin Luoluo’s hands. Because they had been stepped on by Jiang Yuhuan, many shards of glass had pierced into the flesh, blood flowing non-stop.

Seeing this, an inexplicable rage flared up in Meng Zhiyi’s heart.

Lin Luoluo’s face was pale from pain, making her already delicate features appear all the more pitiable.

When she looked up at Meng Zhiyi, her eyes shimmered with hope, as if she had seen a savior.

“Meng Zhiyi…”

She called out timidly, her uncertain voice revealing she wasn’t sure if the person in front of her was here to help.

Before Meng Zhiyi could respond, Jiang Yuhuan roughly wiped the wine from her face and was the first to sneer, “So it’s you, the shameless good-for-nothing heiress of the Meng Family.”

“Why aren’t you chasing after your fiancé anymore? Got dumped, didn’t you?”

“I knew it. Someone like you could never be worthy of Young Master Shen. If I were you, I’d have been too embarrassed to even jump in the river.”

Jiang Yuhuan’s mocking voice kept rising, making some of the guests who had heard of Meng Zhiyi burst into loud laughter.

Meng Zhiyi looked at Jiang Yuhuan with cool indifference, ignored her, and instead reached out to pull the still-crouching Lin Luoluo up from the ground.

Lin Luoluo’s wounds needed to be treated quickly, so Meng Zhiyi dismissed the idea of wasting any more time on Jiang Yuhuan.

“Go take care of your wounds.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Yuhuan strutted forward arrogantly and blocked Lin Luoluo’s way.

“This young lady hasn’t given you permission to leave. Just try and go if you dare.”

Lin Luoluo was so frightened that she didn’t dare move, shrinking back a little.

Meng Zhiyi’s brows knitted slightly, her eyes instantly clouded with coldness.

She stepped forward, knocking Jiang Yuhuan aside, then glanced back at the timid girl behind her. “Why are you still standing there? Let’s go.”

Jiang Yuhuan was immediately enraged by Meng Zhiyi’s attitude, raised her hand to slap her, and shouted, “How dare you disrespect me?!”

“Meng Zhiyi, be careful.” Lin Luoluo exclaimed, reaching out as if to push her away.

The next moment, Meng Zhiyi grabbed Jiang Yuhuan’s wrist tightly and flung her away with force.

Jiang Yuhuan was no match for Meng Zhiyi and staggered backward unsteadily.

If not for a boy behind her catching her, she would have fallen to the ground.

“Meng Zhiyi, how dare you lay a hand on me?! Do you know who I am?” Jiang Yuhuan yelled in anger, pointing and cursing at her.

Meng Zhiyi replied indifferently, “I don’t care who you are. If you mess with me, I’ll hit you all the same.”

Jiang Yuhuan’s face flushed red with fury. She grabbed a wine bottle from the table and hurled it at her. “Go to hell!”

The crowd quickly scattered, and Meng Zhiyi easily dodged the bottle, then strode over, grabbed Jiang Yuhuan by the hair, and pressed her face to the table with not a trace of mercy.

“You really do need to be taught a lesson. I’ve tolerated you long enough. Looks like you won’t behave until you get a beating, huh?”

Jiang Yuhuan’s face went pale with shock as she frantically flailed her hands, shrieking, “Ah!!! Let go of me! Do you believe I won’t let you leave here today?”

Meng Zhiyi let out a cold laugh, pressing down even harder. “Alright, I’d like to see how you’re going to stop me from leaving today.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yuhuan was consumed with rage and spat out, “You little bitch, no wonder Young Master Shen doesn’t fancy you. You’re not even worthy of carrying my shoes.”

“All those years you were abducted, I bet men already ruined you.”

“Someone like you? Young Master Shen would have to be blind to like you.”

Her words grew filthier and filthier, to the point that even the bystanders couldn’t bear to listen any longer.

Meng Zhiyi showed no reaction throughout, but those who knew her understood-this time, Jiang Yuhuan had really provoked the wrong person.

“So much for an elite family upbringing. With a mouth that dirty, did you grow up eating shit?”

“Just wearing human skin is an insult to the term ‘person.’ Why not start barking like a dog from now on?”

“Since your mother didn’t teach you manners, then let me, as your elder sister, do the job today and wash your filthy mouth for you.”

With that, Meng Zhiyi grabbed the ice bucket from the bar and poured it directly into Jiang Yuhuan’s mouth.

Once the bucket was empty, she dragged Jiang Yuhuan by the hair over to another table, grabbed the fresh ice bucket there, and continued pouring.

Everyone present was stunned by this spectacle.

In Meng Zhiyi’s hands, Jiang Yuhuan couldn’t put up any resistance, and even those who wanted to intervene or stop the fight were scared off by Meng Zhiyi’s warning glare.

“Ah!! Aaagh-” Jiang Yuhuan choked so badly she couldn’t even string a full sentence together.

It wasn’t until the third bucket of ice water went down that Meng Zhiyi finally paused for a brief rest.

Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Yuhuan craned her neck and shouted at the Zhou Family bodyguards not far away, “Are you all blind? Can’t you see I’m being bullied? Come over here and grab her!”

“Mrs. Zhou is my aunt! Do you all want to lose your jobs?” Jiang Yuhuan screamed.

At first, the Zhou Family’s bodyguards didn’t move. But when they heard Jiang Yuhuan declare that she was Zhou Kai’s mother’s niece, they finally started to step forward.

Just as the bodyguards were about to move on Meng Zhiyi, Shen Que appeared from behind the crowd and said in a deep voice, “Whoever dares touch her can try.”

Meng Zhiyi looked back to see Shen Que stepping out from the crowd.

Following behind him, besides his own bodyguards, was her Third Brother, Meng Yanchuan!

{How did these two end up together?}

{What are they doing here? Could they possibly be looking for me?}

Shen Que’s face was like a living calling card in the Capital City. Even elders had to show him due respect.

After all, no one wanted to cross the Shen Family.

Seeing him arrive, the Zhou Family’s bodyguards immediately backed off.

Meng Zhiyi froze for a second, then quickly let go, dropping her earlier fierce demeanor.

In a sweet voice, she said, “Brother Shen Que, what brings you here?”

Shen Que: “…Can you act normal?”

Meng Yanchuan adjusted his glasses and drawled, “What, is your boyfriend the only one you see? Don’t you notice your Third Brother?”

Meng Zhiyi immediately grinned at him, “Third Brother~”

“Ahem.” Meng Yanchuan couldn’t stand Meng Zhiyi’s affected tone and rubbed his arms.

He really shouldn’t have spoken up just now.

At that moment, Jiang Yuhuan, now free, exploded with all the rage she’d been holding back.

“Meng Zhiyi, I’m going to kill you!” she shouted, grabbing a bottle and lunging at Meng Zhiyi.

With a whoosh, Meng Zhiyi dove straight into Shen Que’s arms and said in a soft, delicate voice, “Brother Shen Que, protect me, I’m scared.”

Shen Que and Meng Yanchuan: (¬д¬.)

Still, Shen Que instinctively pulled her into his arms, turning to let his bodyguards deal with the situation.

The onlookers were speechless, all inwardly criticizing Meng Zhiyi’s dramatic behavior.

Jiang Yuhuan was restrained by the Shen Family’s bodyguards, able only to glare, “Meng Zhiyi, you’re shameless! If you’ve got guts, don’t hide behind others!”

Leaning comfortably and triumphantly in Shen Que’s embrace, Meng Zhiyi looked at Jiang Yuhuan and said, “I won’t. You’re just jealous that someone is protecting me. If you’ve got what it takes, find someone yourself.”

“If you can’t, I can recommend someone. How about my Third Brother?”

“If you become my sister-in-law, maybe you’ll have the status to pressure me.”

Meng Yanchuan: “???”
