Newbie Encounters a Top-tier Succubus Boss - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Yu Che was looking forward to the humans’ reaction.
The next second, a crisp metallic clink sounded by his ear.
A pair of silver handcuffs snapped onto Yu Che’s wrists.
Yu Che: “?”
Yu Che was bewildered as I escorted him back to the Special Investigation Bureau.
The moment an unknown living specimen was brought in, the entire Special Investigation Bureau buzzed with activity.
Soon, colleagues came to take over.
I gave careful instructions: “He’s very dangerous, high-level. Please request the highest-security observation pod.”
Yu Che watched the bustling scene around him, somewhat confused.
He looked at me, then at the humans surrounding him with all kinds of instruments.
The unfamiliar faces made him instinctively edge closer to the only human he knew for shelter, but he was still forcibly taken into the elevator leading underground.
Yu Che kept looking back with every step, and even as the lab door was closing, he was still gazing toward where I stood.
Not long after he disappeared, the agitated hall gradually quieted down.
I glanced at the time and turned to leave the building.
By the time I got back to my place, it was already midnight. I took out the tool to check the Instance; the readings were stable, with no anomalies.
This Instance had no data worth collecting for reference.
According to plan, I needed to complete the mission quickly and move on to investigate the next world.
After washing up, I lay back on the bed and quickly fell asleep.
In the night, a faint sobbing sound came and went, sending chills down my spine.
I snapped my eyes open, one hand slapping the switch on the headboard while the other fished out the pistol from under the pillow.
The lights came on; the room was empty, and the street outside was quiet and peaceful.
No monster, no person.
Where was that sound coming from?
I frowned, thinking it might be the wind outside.
The next second, the crying started again,
and my gaze fell on the slightly bulging blanket.
Me: “…”
I lifted the blanket. Yu Che was sobbingly hugging my leg and crying.
He pitifully raised his arm, showing me several fresh needle marks on it.
“Honey, it hurts so much…”
Chapter 4
I chambered a round and pressed the gun to Yu Che’s temple.
“How did you escape?”
“I…” Yu Che was so scared he swallowed his tears. “There was no one there, so I just came out.”
“I didn’t hurt anyone, didn’t scare anyone. I walked here…”
“Honey, you…”
The word “honey” grated on my nerves, and my voice carried a tinge of anger.
“Don’t call me that!”
Yu Che tremblingly replied, “Okay, honey…”
Me: “…”
I glanced at the time.
Three in the morning, shift change.
To be able to slip out during the shift change…
I grew more cautious.
As if reading my mind, Yu Che explained softly, “There was no one there, I got a little scared, so I came to find you.”
While he spoke, I had already rolled out of bed and stood two meters away.
“Don’t move.”
Yu Che stopped his following motion, obediently sat back on the bed, and looked at me eagerly.
I called the Special Investigation Bureau; the background on the other end was chaotic and panicked, as they’d already noticed Yu Che was missing.
After I explained, the voice on the other side obviously calmed down.
“Thank you, we’ll dispatch someone as soon as possible.”
“How soon is as soon as possible?”
“About…” a slight pause, “two hours at the earliest.”
The Bureau’s circuits had malfunctioned and were under emergency repair now. Even if we sent Yu Che back, the underground isolation observation pod probably couldn’t be used.
So for the next few hours, I had to stay alone with Yu Che.
Yu Che was unnerved by my stare. He muttered and edged closer to the side of the bed.
“Honey…”
My eye twitched. “Don’t call me that again.”
“Then what should I call you?” Yu Che tilted his head.
“Wen Su, my name is Wen Su. Remember?”
“Got it, honey.” Yu Che nodded, indicating he’d gotten it.
Me: “…”
The room fell silent again.
I didn’t move, and Yu Che didn’t move either, sitting obediently on the bed.
Half an hour later, Yu Che’s body started swaying left and right, and his head nodded up and down.
Yu Che was sleepy.
His eyes were red-rimmed. To stay awake, he rubbed them vigorously.
That rubbing made his eyes even redder.
The bloodshot whites made him look exactly like a rabbit, so pitiful it tugged at one’s heart…
That thought didn’t linger in my mind for more than a few seconds before I snapped back and frowned.
Had those players been taken back because they were deceived by the boss’s false appearance, losing their proper judgment?
Maybe there was nothing wrong with the Instance or the boss; all the issues stemmed from this batch of players.
If that conclusion is accurate, then it only shows that today’s players are far too weak in composure and judgment.
It seems the player selection system needs to be reformed.
“You can sleep.” I was much more clear-headed. I jutted my chin toward the pillow.
Yu Che lay down. He rubbed his cheek comfortably against the pillow, then looked at me again: “Aren’t you going to sleep?”
I didn’t reply.
Yu Che closed his eyes.
I leaned against the wall and kept watch over Yu Che all night.
As soon as it was light, I escorted Yu Che back to the Special Investigation Bureau.
With last night’s experience, the place where Yu Che was held this time was guarded even more strictly.
Even if the circuits failed again, there was no way he could escape.
That evening, I finished the mission and returned home.
Just as I was about to sleep, I suddenly felt something moving in the blanket.
I lifted the blanket; Yu Che was obediently lying in bed.
He raised his head along the line of light,
and greeted me.
“Hello, honey.”
