Playing the Mute Transfer Student - Chapter 4

The next morning, I went to my eight o’clock class as usual.

Keeping the rules of the urban legends firmly in mind, I took the window seat in the back row. Jiang Shuo sat beside me, his expression cold.

I had hoped to find an opening through him, but he wouldn’t spare me so much as a sideways glance.

That was hardly the proper way to treat his benefactor.

In fact, for some inexplicable reason…

I had the feeling Jiang Shuo hated me.

The situation had instantly become much more difficult.

I pressed my lips together, at a loss.

How was I supposed to find the relevant clues now?

The bell rang for the first class of the day.

I took out a book I had brought from home and slowly turned the pages, though my thoughts had wandered far away. In my peripheral vision, Jiang Shuo had already put his head down and gone to sleep.

…

Our second class was a compulsory course for our major.

When it ended, the moment mentioned in the rules arrived right on schedule.

I turned toward Ji Siye at the other side of the classroom. According to the avatar’s diary, Ji Siye had always bullied him after this class.

But today, he hadn’t come near me.

Ji Siye remained in his seat, letting a crowd gather around to flatter him.

“Boss, who are we sending on a tour of the Punishment Room today?”

“How about that nosy mute? I’ve hated looking at him for ages.”

The noisy voices crossed the entire classroom and reached my ears. My fingers curled unconsciously into my palm.

Just when I thought Ji Siye would agree, he looked at the boy who had spoken with a faint, mocking smile.

“And when did you start making the decisions?”

The boy’s face went deathly white. He apologized over and over, but everyone around him ignored him.

Compared with the unknown horrors of the Punishment Room, bullying or being bullied no longer seemed quite so frightening.

Being ignored was the first step into hell.

Once the boy had been dealt with, Ji Siye stared directly at me, as though waiting for me to come to him of my own accord.

But seeking someone out and asking them to bully you was bizarre even to contemplate.

With only three minutes remaining, I pressed my lips tight and started to rise.

A large hand suddenly pinned my thigh down.

Jiang Shuo still had his eyes lowered to the game on his phone. With that serious expression, he could have been some aloof academic prodigy absorbed in his studies.

Not a trace of emotion showed on his face.

But I saw his lips move.

In a voice only I could hear, he asked, “I heard Ji Siye fucked you yesterday?”

My pupils contracted.

How did Jiang Shuo know?

The next second, he rattled off another muffled sentence so quickly and quietly it was almost inaudible.

My ears rang.

Without thinking, I slapped him across the face.

The classroom went dead silent.

Every pair of eyes landed on me.

My face burned red with anger. Even the hand I had used to hit him was still trembling, the humiliation churning inside me.

Jiang Shuo wasn’t angry.

He pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek and gave a quiet laugh.

“Looks like I was right.”

He lifted his eyes and inspected me, amusement tugging at one corner of his mouth.

“So thin-skinned.”

“And here I thought playing the slut must be the time of your life.”

I bit down hard on my lower lip and turned away.

What I didn’t notice was Ji Siye’s expression darkening. The aluminum can in his hand slowly crumpled beneath his fingers.

After class ended again, Ji Siye dragged me straight to a lounge without a word.

The moment the door locked, he advanced with a stormy expression.

I retreated until there was nowhere left to go. Just when I thought yesterday was about to repeat itself, Ji Siye hauled me into his arms and kissed me.

The assault was so fierce I could barely breathe. I braced both hands against his shoulders and tried to push him away, but it did almost nothing.

Only when his driver’s call abruptly rang out did Ji Siye release me, clearly reluctant to stop. Breathing slightly harder, he kept his gaze fixed on my tightly pressed lips.

His fingertip settled at the corner of my mouth.

Then he smiled.

“What did Jiang Shuo say to you today?”

Remembering what had happened, I had no desire to answer.

Ji Siye phrased it differently. “Did he make you angry? Be good and give me a kiss. I’ll bully him for you.”

I shook my head at once.

I had no twisted desire to torment other people. Besides, I had already gotten even on the spot.

“You don’t want me to bully him?” Ji Siye asked. “Then you owe me ten kisses. Otherwise, I’ll tie Jiang Shuo up tomorrow and beat the hell out of him.”

My eyes widened in disbelief.

How could anyone be this shameless?

Ji Siye had picked the quarrel on purpose and refused to let me leave. Thinking of the driver who had been waiting so long outside the school gates, I could only rise onto my toes and obediently do as he demanded.

To my surprise, Ji Siye’s eyes grew darker with every kiss.

I had barely begun stepping back when he gripped my chin and crushed his mouth against mine.

Another long stretch of kissing followed.

…

I flatly refused Ji Siye’s offer to take me home. Faced with my cold shoulder, he knew he was in the wrong. He rubbed his nose awkwardly.

“Well… see you tomorrow, wifey.”

???

Who the hell was his wife?!
