Chapter 1

It took me nearly half my life to understand one simple truth.

Good men don’t stay on the market.

So the moment I met Zhou Yan,

I decided to take the initiative.

Step one: show up at Zhou Yan’s company every day and make sure he remembered I existed.

For the sake of love, I even played the part of a woman who “accidentally” lost her footing.

I fell straight down and landed squarely on the man’s lap.

Zhou Yan leaned back in his chair, elegant and aloof.

With a lazy, roguish smile, he said, “What’s this? Going for the hard approach this time?”

Chapter 2

Our eyes met.

I was still sitting on his lap.

Something was pressing against me. Hard.

Zhou Yan, meanwhile, looked perfectly calm as he stared at me.

Over the past few days, I had practically written I like you across my forehead.

Zhou Yan must have figured out my feelings long ago.

The thought made my face burn, and I fled in utter panic.

I could already imagine what he’d been thinking just now as he watched an idiot deliberately try to flirt with him.

Chapter 3

But I didn’t give up.

If anything, every setback only made me bolder.

I still found every excuse I could to visit Zhou Yan’s company.

Until one day, when I accompanied my father to a banquet.

I saw my dad in a “standoff” with Zhou Yan.

My dad had his chin lifted, clearly not taking the young man across from him seriously at all.

“President Zhou won the bid for this project again. Your methods really are impressive.”

“What’s wrong, President Ming? Jealous?”

“We’ll see about that. With a personality like yours, I can’t imagine what unlucky girl would ever marry you.”

Chapter 4

I had heard that my father and Zhou Yan were business rivals.

I just hadn’t expected their private relationship to be this tense.

Not far away, their conversation continued.

Zhou Yan seemed amused. “Yes, she would be rather unlucky.”

He leaned casually against the private room’s doorframe and went on in that careless tone of his.

“Oh, right. Your daughter seems to have a bit of a thing for me. I wonder if someone arranged it so she could try to dig information out of me, or if this is your roundabout strategy, President Ming. Are you trying to make me call you Father-in-law?”

At last, I understood why my dad couldn’t stand Zhou Yan.

This man looked lazy on the surface, but underneath, he was arrogant, brazen, nasty, and had the foulest mouth!

Standing around the corner, I felt a chill settle in my chest.

Sure enough, that very night, my father came to talk to me.

“Ming Yan! When did you go blind? One look at that punk and you can tell he’s no good.”

I picked at my fingers. “Dad, you don’t understand him at all.”

“If you dare go near him again, your old man will go end him right now!”

“…”

Chapter 5

No matter how I thought about it, I couldn’t make sense of it.

I had been nothing but sincere, yet he saw me as some kind of corporate spy?

I had to explain things to him properly.

So, when the chance finally came, I “happened” to run into Zhou Yan just after he finished a business dinner.

Sure enough, handsomeness was a feeling.

His tie was loose, and the lines of his face were clean and sharp.

He was ruggedly, devastatingly handsome.
