Shang Heng visibly froze. After a brief moment of thought, he still lifted his foot and stepped inside. He walked up to me and stopped, his expression rather wary.

I held the pastries out to him. “Here. Have one. They’re pretty sweet.”

Shang Heng lowered his gaze, fixing it on the sweet-smelling pastry. In the end, he said coldly, “Thank you, Imperial Sister, but there’s no need-”
