Reborn as My Nemesis's Junior Sister - Chapter 3
I concealed my presence and quietly slipped onto Chongming Peak, where Shen Fuchen lived.
His heart demon had nothing to do with me, really. I could have ignored it and gone on enjoying my carefree life.
Yet my feet still carried me to the doors of his sleeping quarters.
I searched the rooms, but he was nowhere inside. Where else could he be?
With a turn of my fingers, I produced one of his long hairs that I had saved earlier.
I folded it together with a talisman into a paper crane. The crane circled once, then flew straight toward the mountainside forest.
I followed it into a cave. The moment I drew near, a savage chill struck me.
The deeper I went, the stiffer my limbs became. Only after I pasted a protective talisman onto myself did it improve.
At the deepest part of the cave, faintly glowing crystals of ice grew on every side. Shen Fuchen sat on a raised stone beneath a waterfall, his long hair loose and his only clothing a pair of underpants, letting the torrent crash over him.
The waterfall was bitterly cold. Shards of razor-edged ice came down with the water, carving wound after bone-deep wound across his back.
The abundant spiritual energy made each injury heal, but fresh wounds opened without end. Blood streamed down and dyed the freezing pool crimson.
Did Shen Fuchen… enjoy torturing himself too?
I had no idea why the sight made rage surge through me. Anger battered around my chest until I wanted to drag him down and slap him twice.
Was this how he despised and punished himself?
I waded through the pool one step at a time. His eyes remained closed, his body sheathed in a crust of ice.
I had always known Shen Fuchen was handsome, but seeing him this close, there was something ghostly beneath his beauty.
Half naked, long hair drenched, every trace of blood frozen from his skin, he looked like a jade figure trapped in ice—or the ghost of a drowned man.
I stared for a moment, then seized his wrist and hauled him onto the bank.
His eyes slowly opened. “Junior Sister?”
Frozen mist left his mouth with the words. The cold had clearly sunk into his organs.
“You’re a Spirit Transformation cultivator. How can you not keep out a little cold?”
He blinked, and frost sifted from his lashes. “I sealed my cultivation. It will recover on its own in three days.”
So he could hurt himself…
My palm itched. Saving him did not stop me from following my heart and slapping him hard across the face—twice.
He was too shocked to resist. The handprint on his cheek reddened for only a moment before fading again.
“You hit me?”
“You wanted to torment yourself. I’m helping.”
He seemed to realize I had not come with good intentions. He thrust two fingers at me like a sword, but without his cultivation, the strike could do no harm.
I knocked him flat with a burst of spiritual power, swung astride him, and clamped my hand around his throat.
“Xie… Fuyao…”
Meeting that razor-sharp gaze only made my heart pound harder. I could not stop myself from bending down and kissing him.
His struggles weakened. His eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
Shen Fuchen…
If you cannot forget me, then never forget me at all.
