Reborn as the Crown Prince's Little Ancestor - Chapter 2
In the second year of his seclusion, drought and plague ravaged Qi.
The people begged in the God of War’s temples. He turned a deaf ear.
They begged in the Divine Maiden’s temples. She looked away.
Forced out of seclusion, the crown prince exhausted his talent and cultivation to enter the heavenly realm in a dream and seek an audience with Chu Yao.
He found her having frenzied sex with the God of War in divine waters.
A year on earth was only a day in Heaven.
An immortal woman told him that ever since her ascension, Chu Yao and the God of War had spent their days and nights lost in pleasures of the flesh.
Her temples thronged with worshippers. She had put all their prayers and desperate pleas out of her mind.
The crown prince woke from his immortal dream to the wailing of his people and corpses strewn across the land.
If the gods would not help, he would have to do it himself.
He raised an altar and prayed to the Heavenly Dao for rain. Heavenly lightning struck him in answer.
Only then did he discover that the jade bone inside him was a disguised beast-spirit bone!
Chu Yao had deceived him. She had not even bothered to use some low-grade divine artifact. She had traded a beast-spirit bone picked up at random for his immortal bone!
As his body took on a beast-spirit’s nature, the crown prince entered a forbidden place. There lay a Tribulation Lot.
The Lot was a forbidden artifact. Its user could reverse cause and effect, but had to bear ten thousand tribulations in return.
The prince used it to overturn causality, dispelling the plague and natural disasters and securing health and peace for Qi. The backlash turned him demonic.
At the very instant he became a demon, the God of War and Divine Maiden finally appeared, after ignoring every plea.
“Your Highness, you’ve fallen into the demonic path,” she said from on high. “Yaoyao is so disappointed in you.”
Mingjue looked down at him. “What should be done with a mortal who becomes a demon?” he asked Chu Yao.
To prove her loyalty, she replied, “Slaying demons is what the God of War does best!”
Mingjue moved to destroy Xiao Yundu. The people of Qi stepped forward to shield him with their own bodies.
They cursed the Divine Maiden’s shamelessness and the God of War’s treachery.
Furious, she said, “These insects refuse to see reason. Send them all to the next life!”
“No! No!”
Xiao Yundu raised his sword. “I’ll cut my own throat! Leave my people out of this!”
Eager to win Mingjue’s trust, Chu Yao struck before the prince could kill himself. For the crime of protecting a demon, she brought down countless bolts of lightning upon Qi’s people, reducing them all to ash and dust. Every one of them had once been a devoted follower of the God of War and Divine Maiden.
In that merciless slaughter, the crown prince managed to protect only one little girl.
He used his body to take every bolt meant for her.
He whispered in her ear.
“I’ve failed my people. The fault is mine.”
Before his soul shattered, Xiao Yundu placed a drop of blood between the child’s brows. It held the last of his talent and spiritual power.
That little girl was the massacre’s only survivor.
That little girl was me.
With the power and talent he gave me, I became a disciple on a secluded immortal mountain and cultivated for a thousand years. At last, I ascended to the rank of high immortal and could open the gate of time.
Now I was back in Qi a thousand years ago, at the very beginning of all those tragedies.
I was once again Li Tang, the duke’s twelve-year-old daughter, serving as the princess’s study companion in the palace.
I had returned just in time: to the moment Chu Yao was forcing the crown prince to surrender his lifespan to save the God of War.
