Shen Tang - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Early the next morning, I stared at the dresses and clothes hanging out on the balcony to dry.
There weren’t even that many.
Just these few pieces, and Huo Zhao had somehow stayed in the bathroom washing them until the middle of the night.
Oh no. The underwear I’d changed out of seemed to have been in the laundry basket too.
For the past half year, I’d been thinking about Huo Zhao’s college entrance exams, so I hadn’t punished him by making him do laundry anymore.
Back then, I would always pick those out first. Last night had been a spur-of-the-moment thing, and I’d actually forgotten.
But I craned my neck and paced back and forth under the clothes twice, and still didn’t see any trace of my black lace.
“What are you looking for?”
I turned around.
Huo Zhao was standing half a meter away, his messy hair still slightly damp, as if he’d just come back from a morning run.
He was wearing a simple black-and-white tracksuit, but it only made his tall frame, broad shoulders, and narrow waist stand out even more.
For a moment, I spaced out.
When I first transmigrated here, Huo Zhao was only twelve.
Huo Zhao’s mother, who was the original owner’s stepmother, saw Huo Zhao as a stumbling block to her marrying into a wealthy family.
So she had him fostered here and there.
Until the original owner’s whole family got into a car accident and died.
I was sent by the System Bureau to take over the original owner’s identity.
And because no one was left to keep paying for Huo Zhao’s living expenses, he got tossed from place to place before finally being sent to an orphanage.
When I found Huo Zhao at the orphanage, he was as thin as a stick.
He wore a shirt that had been washed until it had gone pale.
When he looked at me, his eyes were full of a coldness and gloom that didn’t belong to a child his age.
A textbook villain seedling.
Perfect, because my mission was to add one more heavy, dramatic stroke to his already unfortunate fate.
To make him turn completely evil.
I snapped back to my senses, cleared my throat, and put on the tone of a vicious stepsister.
“Where’s my underwear?”
Huo Zhao wiped his hair and lifted his eyes to glance at me. His tone was flat.
“Ruined it in the wash.”
Now it was my turn to be shocked.
“Ruined it? I just bought it! I only tried it on once! How could it get ruined that easily in the wash?!”
Huo Zhao didn’t answer. He turned and walked back inside.
I stared at his back, gritting my teeth.
That little bastard. He was definitely getting revenge on me!
If you’ve got the guts, come at me directly! Why take it out on my clothes?!
I’d spent a fortune on that for my date!
Chapter 4
“What’s wrong? Is something on your mind?”
Over the course of one meal, Liang You asked me for the third time.
I kept feeling like there was a burning gaze on me from somewhere nearby, but I couldn’t quite catch it.
I suppressed the strange feeling in my chest and smiled.
“Nothing. I was just thinking your birthday is coming up soon, and wondering what present I should get you.”
Liang You smiled. Behind his lenses, his brown eyes were filled with warmth.
“Do you like me?”
I froze, not understanding where this was coming from. “Of course.”
“Then that’s enough.”
The plate in front of me was swapped out.
What he gave me was a plate of lamb chops, already cut into neat pieces.
Liang You took off his gold-rimmed glasses with one hand, his voice gentle.
“I’ve already received the best gift in the world.”
I looked at Liang You.
I had to admit, this type really worked on me.
Though he came from an ordinary family, he was extremely capable.
In his early thirties, he’d already become vice president of Huanyu.
Mature and gentle, rational and sexy.
Most importantly, I had only just discovered that the way he took off his glasses, paired with the veins standing out on the back of his hand…
Let me put it this way: I’d already picked out our kids’ names.
After dinner, Liang You drove me home.
The car stopped downstairs at my apartment building.
I’d had a little to drink.
The heat of the summer night brushed through my hair.
It made my heart flutter.
Liang You raised his hand and restrainedly tucked my hair behind my ear, coaxing me softly.
“Go on up. I’ll watch you get inside before I leave.”
I shook my head, deliberately being difficult.
Liang You and I hadn’t seen each other for nearly half a month.
We had only just gotten together when he went on a business trip.
As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I lifted my hand, hooked it around Liang You’s neck, rose onto my toes, and breathed beside his ear.
“Liang You, I really want to kiss you.”
Dry tinder needed only a single spark to become a wildfire.
The next second, I was lifted off the ground.
I landed on the hood of the G-Wagon.
A scorching palm gripped my waist.
Liang You tilted his head up and kissed me.
Deeply entwined, pressing forward, conquering every inch.
I clung to Liang You, my body going weak from his kisses, my voice breaking. “Liang You, your glasses… take them off, okay?”
Liang You held me steady, a silver thread stretching between our lips. “Baby, tonight, can we-”
A cold voice abruptly sounded from behind us.
“Are you done kissing?”
