Side Effects of a Love Gu - Chapter 1
I looked down at Luosang’s face. He was sleeping without a care in the world.
He was almost too beautiful to be real, his coloring vivid: snow-white skin and deep red lips.
His pale chest was covered in scratches I’d left the night before. Red marks overlapped bluish fingerprints, making him look downright seductive.
Beautiful? Absolutely.
Deadly poison? Also absolutely.
I quietly withdrew the hand I’d meant to wake him with and prepared to run.
My toes had barely touched the floor when I spotted his little red pet snake perched on his shoulder, flicking its tongue at me.
Quick as a flash, I knocked it out with one punch.
Hopefully I’d given it amnesia and it would wake up with no idea who I was.
Then I looked down again. Clutched in Luosang’s hand were my lace panties.
He’d gripped them so tightly the fabric was creased.
Me: “…”
No wonder I felt so bare.
Nope. Those had to come with me.
Otherwise they’d be evidence.
I pinched one corner and eased it out as gently as I could.
Two tugs. Nothing.
Another tug. Still nothing.
Suddenly Luosang rolled over, one long leg shifting until his thigh pinned the panties down completely.
His brows drew together. Half asleep, he murmured, “Don’t go.”
His hand reached toward me, his fingertips curling unconsciously.
That very hand had gripped my waist last night, fingers sinking into my flesh until he’d nearly finished me off.
I took a frightened step back.
Forget it. He could keep the panties.
They were just a pair of panties, a common style anyone might own. He wouldn’t necessarily know they were mine.
[Ugh, she even left a love token. Her little schemes make me sick.]
[Luo will throw them straight in the trash when he wakes up, then wash his hands three times.]
[And slaughter her afterward.]
[Actually, this side character is pretty hot… That waist, those hips, those curves. I took eight hundred screenshots of Luo gripping her last night.]
[Right? It’s not her fault she ate the love gu. Can’t anyone feel sorry for her? Go easy, Luo. At least leave her body in one piece.]
I slipped out of the hotel as fast as I could and ducked into a private room in the bar downstairs.
This was where the students in our advisor’s group had held our get-together last night.
We’d been chatting away.
I’d spotted a peanut beside my hand, round and faintly reddish.
Without thinking, I’d tossed it into my mouth.
One crunch, and it turned out to be a gu insect.
Once it reached my stomach, it was like a brushfire had been lit inside me. My entire body burned.
Luosang turned his head. His green eyes were clouded with confusion, his throat working over and over.
He was in even worse shape than I was. I hurriedly grabbed him and led him away.
Then we both lost ourselves and ended up in bed together.
His waist, his lips, his breathing, the herbal scent of him as he pressed down on me… It all blurred together, overwhelming me for the entire night.
Now the other four students were sprawled together, drunk and dead to the world.
I hastily grabbed a bottle, splashed a few drops of liquor on myself, and lay down among them, shutting my eyes and playing dead.
The comments exploded again.
[Luo’s awake! Oh, those green eyes! He’s so confused and adorable when he first wakes up. Come let Mommy hug you!!]
[I think he’s suspicious. He’s sniffing the air. Hehehe, this is going to be good.]
[Wait… Why has he put her lace panties on his head?]
[??????]
[Uh… The love gu hasn’t completely worn off. He can’t tell who he slept with, so he’s identifying her by scent.]
[It’s been a minute… They’re STILL on his head?? Luo, don’t you think that’s dirty?]
Whew. Luosang was acting very strangely, but he hadn’t figured out it was me.
Safe. For now.
