Sisters Swap - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Moonlight shone like burnished silver, and red candles burned brightly.
The Prince Regent’s Mansion was filled with festive joy.
I was hungry, so I rummaged under the bedding for red dates, longans, and peanuts, and started munching.
By the time the Prince Regent entered, I had hidden the leftover shells and was sitting upright on the bridal bed with perfect decorum.
He lifted the bridal veil, and I gazed at the man before me with hopeful eyes.
He was Gu Jingyan, the Young Emperor’s own uncle, and from now on he would provide me with food and shelter.
He had a face like jade, a tall and straight bearing, and a hidden ailment.
He was beyond perfect.
The moment he saw me, Gu Jingyan looked shocked and blurted, “It’s you?”
Surprised, I asked, “Has Your Highness seen me before?”
“No.”
A flicker of unreadable emotion crossed Gu Jingyan’s eyes, and he gave a faint, ambiguous smile.
That smile made me suddenly uneasy, as if my cover had been blown.
But I was absolutely certain he had never met me or my legitimate sister.
Gu Jingyan sat beside me on the bed. His long, jade-white hand slowly reached over and gently brushed my cheek.
It felt like he was going to caress me.
I went rigid, sitting there on high alert.
Before the wedding, my sister and I had exchanged knowledge from our previous lives.
She said Gu Jingyan was cold-hearted and emotionless, a man of few words, with no interest in women.
He had even bluntly told my sister, “I am unable to perform as a man, so don’t waste your efforts on me.”
Only then did I feel a bit more at ease.
Men are like that-they never want to admit their shortcomings right away. They always have to put on a pretense first.
Then they pretend to lose interest in me to save face.
I wanted to see how far he could keep up the act.
Gu Jingyan’s fingertip slowly landed on my lips, then gently wiped across them.
He looked at his finger, clicked his tongue twice, and smiled.
My vision went dark.
On it were my bright red lip rouge and a thin, pinkish piece of peanut skin.
“Delicious?” he asked.
Humiliated, I decided to just abandon all pretenses and lifted the bedding to show him:
“If they weren’t good, would I have eaten so many?”
Gu Jingyan suppressed a laugh, his breath sweet as orchid against my ear, though his tone lacked any sincerity.
“These fruits symbolize the early birth of a precious son. It seems the Princess Consort is already eager to bear children for me.”
My gaze involuntarily fell on a certain part of his body, my eyes filled with pity.
He was still putting on an act.
The next moment, he pushed me down onto the bed.
His hard, powerful body pressed down, blocking out most of the light. The candle shadows danced, and everywhere I looked was festive red.
He undid my sash with fierce movements, looking as if he was about to devour me completely.
He was actually serious!
Terrified, I shrieked, “I-I-I am not feeling well! Please have mercy, Your Highness!”
Only then did that unruly hand come to a stop. Gu Jingyan remained in a hovering position, looking down at me leisurely.
“If the Princess Consort is unwell in the future, you must say so earlier.”
“Yes, yes, of course.”
From now on, I would definitely be unwell very often.
