Chapter 39

Li Huainan gave up struggling.

There were two bedrooms on the first floor: a master bedroom and a secondary bedroom.

The master bedroom was fully furnished. It looked uninhabited, but the closet held a neat stack of clothes, the styles suggesting they belonged to someone older.

Li Huainan guessed this was where one of Ruan Tian’s elders used to live. It didn’t feel right for him to stay there, so he chose the secondary bedroom.

Before closing the door, Li Huainan asked, “Do you need someone to keep watch?”

“No need.”

“Alright, then call me if you need anything.”

Li Huainan didn’t stand on ceremony. He was still injured, and after a busy day, he was already exhausted.

Worried about Ruan Tian?

Don’t be ridiculous-he’d be better off worrying about those unlucky guys outside.

Li Huainan lay down on the bed and was asleep within moments.

His ability to sleep so soundly would make even a dog shake its head.

…

Because she’d napped for a few hours that afternoon, Ruan Tian wasn’t sleepy now.

She sat downstairs for a while, then turned off the lights and went up to the second floor.

As soon as she reached the second floor, 001 reminded her: [Host, someone has entered the yard.]

“Mm, I see them.”

It was a group of rude people. She’d left the door open and the lights on for them, but they hadn’t come. Now, the moment she turned off the lights, they couldn’t wait any longer.

Ruan Tian stood on the second-floor balcony, blending into the night.

She watched their every move.

There weren’t many of them this time, about twenty or so.

Their wall-climbing was so clumsy it was almost painful to watch.

Ruan Tian sighed softly, “They’re so dumb.”

“001, do you think I should tell them the front door isn’t locked?”

[001: ……]

001 didn’t know how to respond and chose silence.

By now, everyone had climbed into the yard and was sneaking toward the house.

Ruan Tian withdrew her gaze and turned to head downstairs.

With guests arriving, how could the host not make an appearance?

A group of people crept into the living room.

The man in the lead raised his hand and quickly made a few gestures. The people behind him understood immediately, splitting into groups of five, moving quietly along the walls toward each room.

Unfamiliar with the layout, they immediately started bumping into things as soon as they split up.

The leader’s face darkened.

He lowered his voice, “Idiots, can’t you move slower?”

“What if you wake someone up?”

No sooner had he finished speaking than the pitch-black living room was suddenly flooded with light.

The outlines of the furniture, the scattered items knocked to the floor, and the group of intruders frozen in place were all clearly illuminated.

“It’s fine, I wasn’t asleep.”

A soft, slightly amused female voice came from the entryway.

Everyone was stunned, instinctively turning toward the sound.

A young girl stood by the wall next to the light switch, her fingertip still resting on the button.

She wore simple loungewear, her hair casually draped over her shoulders. The light cast a faint shadow across her face, her eyes calm and harmless.

“You’re Ruan Tian?”

“Mm, that’s me.”

The group had been wary at first. After all, anyone who could clear the Mandatory Dungeon first and dared to attack their brothers had to be a formidable female warrior.

But the person before them didn’t fit the description of a female warrior at all.

If they’d known Ruan Tian was just a young girl, they would’ve rushed in and grabbed her, instead of wasting hours outside feeding mosquitoes.

“You dared to mess with our Second Brother? You must be tired of living. Brothers, get her-tie her up and hand her over to Big Brother.” The leader rolled up his sleeves, eyes fierce. The men behind him responded instantly, grabbing ropes and charging forward.
Watching the two young men approach with ropes, Ruan Tian tilted her head slightly toward the others and said, “Why don’t you all come at me together?”

“Heh, you’re all talk-what the…!”

The man’s sneer was cut off, his words turning into a curse as he witnessed the sudden scene in front of him.

The girl, who had seemed so harmless just moments ago, sprang into action.

No one saw exactly how she moved; all they caught was a blur. In an instant, the two young men with ropes were suddenly sent flying, followed by a straight drop to the ground with two heavy thuds.

Groaning in pain, the young men curled up on the floor, their ropes tossed far from their hands.

Before the rest could react, Ruan Tian had already picked up one of the fallen ropes and walked toward them.

They tried to resist, but it was too late.

Screams erupted one after another, the sounds of bones snapping-arms and legs-mingled with the cries. In just a few minutes, every single one of them had been tied up by Ruan Tian and left piled haphazardly on the floor.

In the end, only the leader remained standing, pale and alone.

Ruan Tian patted her hands as if dusting off imaginary dirt, then looked up, her gaze settling on the last man standing.

Casually, she said, “Oh, I almost forgot. There’s still one more.”

As soon as she spoke, the man’s knees gave out and he dropped to the floor.

“Please, don’t kill me.”

Ruan Tian smiled. “Don’t talk nonsense. Killing is not allowed in the Main City.”

She really did follow the game rules to the letter.

The man had barely let out a sigh of relief when she continued,

“But, I don’t like guests coming into my house without permission.”

He was about to explain when Ruan Tian placed her hand on his arm. There were two crisp snaps, and his arm drooped at a strange angle.

The man curled up in agony, cold sweat streaming down, unable to utter a single groan.

What innocent, harmless girl? She was a Female Demon through and through.

Thinking of how Second Brother and the others died at her hands, it suddenly didn’t seem so unfair.

Ruan Tian tied him up with the others.

She yawned as she looked at the burly men scattered all over the living room.

“What a mess, causing such trouble in the middle of the night.”

“I’m going to bed. If it hurts tonight, just bear with it. Don’t make a sound. Don’t disturb my sleep.”

“Otherwise…” Ruan Tian’s eyes swept over them, her smile oddly friendly. “I wouldn’t mind cutting out his tongue.”

At her words, the men fell silent-not even daring to whimper.

Seeing the strangely bright light in the girl’s eyes, the men felt a chill run down their necks. No one doubted she meant what she said, and no one wanted to find out for themselves.

“Good boys. Good night.”

Ruan Tian went upstairs to her bedroom, not at all worried about them escaping.

She had dislocated their arms in passing.

A few unlucky ones hadn’t managed to protect their legs either.

They couldn’t even straighten their fingers, let alone get up by themselves-much less try to escape with those whose legs had been broken.

A peaceful night’s sleep.

…

Early the next morning.

Li Huainan opened his door and was startled by the scene before him.

The living room was filled with a heap of young men, sprawled all over the floor.

Their faces were pale and drained, some even unconscious.

Those still awake looked at Li Huainan as if he were a savior, but even so, they kept their voices to a whisper.

“Please, save us.”

“Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you. Just please let us go.”

“…”
