Chapter 141

Upon hearing her words, the boy’s tightly clenched hands paused for a moment before suddenly relaxing.

He propped himself up, his hollow golden eyes leveling with the girl’s red ones. A look of confusion flickered across his pale, gloomy face.

Tilting his head slightly, it took a long while before he finally answered.

“Probably… I d-don’t like you.”

The gentleness on her face froze deep within her red eyes.

Beili’s heart sank instantly.

The slight curve of her lips pulled into a flat, straight line, and a cold light flashed through her jewel-like red eyes.

She stared at the hollow golden eyes beneath the boy’s silver hair and his lightly pursed lips for a moment. Then, in a slow, indifferent tone, she said:

“Since that’s the case, then do not interfere in my private affairs.”

As if sensing the change in her mood, the boy spoke up.

“B-but, Cyril Elvis…”

“Cyril may have a bad temper, but based on his words, he is honest. He isn’t duplicitous like some people.”

She paused for a few seconds, leaning in close to the boy’s ear. Her warm, faintly scented breath blew into his ear along with her words.

“So, if he brings up the matter of the engagement, I’ve decided to tell him that feelings can be nurtured slowly over time.”

His thick, black-feathered eyelashes trembled slightly.

“You…”

The boy murmured.

It was as if he were choked by her words, left speechless for a moment, his weak tone carrying a trace of bewilderment.

His cold, thin lips parted, but aside from that single ‘you,’ he couldn’t squeeze out another word for a long time.

“Still don’t understand? I mean, if Cyril brings up the engagement, I will agree to it.”

Finishing in an incomparably calm tone, Beili decided to leave the area.

She lifted the quilt and quickly backed away.

Her chest heaved violently from suppressed indignation.

Breathing heavily, she used both hands and feet to scramble away from the Second Prince’s bed.

But in the next second.

Her ankle was suddenly seized in a death grip.

Beili looked down and saw a man’s hand reaching out from under the covers.

A large, pale, slightly grayish hand gripped her ankle as if with fury, the fingertips stained an eerie black.

She only blinked her red eyes once, and that eerie blackness began to soak and spread from his fingertips to his knuckles, then to the back of his hand, looking like he was wearing a half-length black glove that perfectly fit the contours of his hand.

A thick scent of blood permeated the air.

Then, she was violently yanked back by that hand.

The person grabbed her shoulder and flipped her over.

A pair of hands, with the gloomy and eerie blackness spreading up to the forearms, pinned her down onto the bed covered in luxurious black and red velvet.

The man tilted his head slightly, revealing a pair of twisted black ram horns.

Then came the long, straight silver hair that cascaded like starlight, curving in an elegant line over his broad shoulders before falling onto her neck, cold as if it had been soaked in ice water.

His mouth was stained with blood, and wisps of black mist as thick as ink floated around him.

His hollow golden eyes looked down at her from the domineering angle of a superior threatening the weak.

“Take back what you just said.”

His cold, thin lips parted slightly as the man commanded slowly, word by word.

His voice sounded as if it were coming from Hell, muffled by a thick membrane, his tone raspy and heavy to the extreme.

…

Her chin was tilted up, and her deep red eyes looked straight into that statue-like pale face.

The girl let out a cold laugh, her brow still etched with irritation as she nodded.

“Fine. I take back the question I just asked: ‘Ashera, do you like me?'”

She knew perfectly well which sentence he was referring to, but right now, she just wanted to provoke the man in front of her.

As soon as she spoke.

The black mist surrounding them thickened rapidly, nearly obscuring his face.

Part of the mist even turned into a viscous liquid, dripping from the curved black ram horns that were lined with jagged barbs.

The overwhelming scent of blood became exceptionally dense; every breath felt like drinking blood.

“Not that one.”

The man grabbed her upturned chin, and a bone-chilling cold instantly seeped in.

His voice was raspy, as if scorched and torn.

“Little Butterfly, do you know the consequences of provoking me?”

A Contract Scroll stained red with blood was pulled out and tossed onto his broad chest, before sliding down onto the bed.

“Then why don’t you tell me which one it is?”

She spoke indifferently, her tone as casual as if she were discussing the day’s weather.

“Could it be that sentence…”

She intentionally paused for a moment before asking in a puzzled tone, “I said I agree to the engagement with Cyril. Do you have an objection?”

Listening to her words, the man was silent for a few seconds before suddenly letting out a low laugh.

The corners of his lips pulled back into a wide, jagged grin.

His grayish, sickly complexion and blood-stained thin lips made that smile look incredibly eerie.

“Of course, I have no right to interfere with your decision, nor do I have the heart to let you endure my wrath…”

As he spoke, the thick black mist floating around him receded beneath his pale skin.

The blackness that had spread to his neck also gradually faded, leaving only his fingertips stained black.

His fingers slid down from her chin and stopped over her heart.

His palm rested gently against it.

Beili: “…”

How could this person naturally do something so handsy?

Beili’s eyelid twitched violently as she pushed his hand away.

The man’s lips twitched slightly, and his voice returned to its low, slow drawl.

“He says he takes back what he just said.”

“What?”

“He says it’s not that he doesn’t like you, but that he doesn’t know.”
