Chapter 143

Time flew by.

After sunset, night fell.

The curfew bell rang throughout the Imperial Palace of the Santos Kingdom.

Beili waited patiently for a while longer. Only when the moon hung high in the sky did she finally leave the palace chambers with Ashera.

Soon.

Two figures appeared in the palace, clutching wine bottles in their hands. They walked with their arms draped over each other’s shoulders, leaning in close.

The Black-robed Youth walked slowly, though his gait seemed relatively normal.

The girl beside him, however, looked as if she had consumed a significant amount of alcohol.

She swayed unsteadily as she walked.

One moment, she would reach out both arms to hug the youth; the next, she would scold the sentries on night watch. She even began to dance with light footsteps under the moonlight.

In short, the two of them-one refusing to sleep and the other refusing to go home-were making a drunken scene in the palace.

“Who are those two drunks?”

“Can’t you tell? That ghostly black robe and mask… it’s obviously the Second Prince.”

A soldier lowered his voice.

“I know it’s the Second Prince, but who is the lady holding onto him? It’s hard to imagine a noble lady in this world getting so close to the Second Prince, and she…”

She was so beautiful.

The soldier, who had just been scolded by the drunken girl, swallowed the second half of his sentence.

…

Without realizing it, the two drunken figures had wandered near the King of Santos’s private chambers.

“The Second Prince and… Miss Bartholomew of the House of Duke Constance.”

Just as Beili had expected, a red-clad figure suddenly appeared, blocking their path.

This was a mage protecting the King of Santos.

Furthermore, those who stood watch for the King of Santos were usually High-level Mages.

After stating their identities, the man gave a slight bow.

“The King’s chambers are ahead. You two cannot go any further.”

“Cannot… why cannot?” the girl asked back drunkenly.

“Because you will disturb His Majesty’s rest.”

By the time the mage finished his sentence, the girl had already grabbed the youth’s hand and was striding toward the corridor.

The closer she was to the King’s chambers, the less Mana she would consume.

The mage blocked them once more.

With a laugh, the girl instantly underwent Beast Transformation into a butterfly, her wings fluttering as she flew rapidly toward the interior.

Then, she was struck by a golden flash of magic. Reverting from her Beast Form back into human form, she began to fall.

The youth appeared out of nowhere and caught her with precision. He slowly lowered one arm, allowing her to stand steadily on the ground.

“Oh my god…”

Palefaced, the girl leaned into the Black-robed Youth’s embrace.

“You! Damn you!”

Then, her cold, glamorous face twisted with fury.

She hurled the wine bottle-still containing a few drops of liquid-violently at the Red-robed Mage.

The mage dodged, and the bottle shattered against the floor with a sharp crack.

“Second Prince, Miss Bartholomew, I apologize, but you cannot proceed.”

Then.

A faint white barrier appeared in the corridor beside them.

It looked very much like the Magic Lock set at the stairwell entrance back when Beili first arrived at the Holy Church Academy’s attic room.

“What a killjoy…” the girl huffed.

“I guess we’ll just have to play here, Second Prince.”

Her fair hands gripped the youth’s black robe. Her beautiful figure backed away step by step until her spine hit the cold wall.

She gently lifted the hard lines of his silver mask, tilting it upward just enough to reveal his thin, cold lips.

She tilted her face up to approach him, stopping just a second before they touched.

Then, she cocked her head. Her dark red gaze shifted past the youth’s shoulder to the Red-robed Mage behind him.

“Why haven’t you left yet? Do you plan on watching us get intimate? Honestly-get lost!”

The mage’s body stiffened slightly. He glanced at the faint white barrier before turning to leave.

Only after the red figure disappeared around the corner did Beili drop her drunken act. Her dark red eyes stared down the empty corridor as she whispered, “Is he gone?”

“Not… not yet. He’s still nearby… watching us from the vicinity,” the youth replied haltingly, his head turned slightly.

Then, he suddenly raised his hands. His black-gloved fingers pinned her against the wall.

Amidst her caught-off-guard groan, the youth lowered his head.

Beili felt her vision go dark.

By the time she reacted, she had already snapped the slightly raised silver mask back down over his face.

Her movement was lightning-fast, sealing it perfectly.

The youth’s lowered head paused for a moment.

Two seconds later.

A short, muffled chuckle escaped from behind the mask that glinted coldly in the moonlight.

“Friend, so… so you like it like this?”

She let out a bewildered “Ah?” as if she didn’t understand what he meant.

Before Beili could grasp the meaning of his words, the lips of the cold, hard mask brushed against her cheek.

Then, it slid gently from her cheek to her lips.

Pressing, grinding lightly.

The fingers pinned to her shoulders curled, gripping tight.

She heard the youth let out a low hum and say, “I… I like it like this too.”

As he spoke, he buried the cold mask into the girl’s neck. It was as if he could smell the warm fragrance she radiated, even through a layer of solid metal.
