Chapter 166

Sparse stars, like pearls, shimmered in the hazy night sky, looking as if they were about to fall.

After the youth finished speaking, he tilted his head and leaned in impatiently, wanting to kiss her.

But the girl still had something to say. Before his lips could meet hers, she turned her face aside and asked, “What about him?”

Besides Ashera in his Youth Form, she certainly couldn’t leave out the Ashera with black ram horns on his head.

She had to ask about both to prevent this Demon from going back on his word. Her way of thinking was quite thorough.

However, the youth did not answer her question.

His attention was entirely focused on her act of rejection-the way she had turned her face away.

He curled his lips into a gentle smile. At the same time, he reached out, his black-gloved hand grasping her face.

Slowly and irresistibly, he turned her face back toward him, inch by inch.

Then he leaned in and kissed her.

Cold lips pressed against her slightly parted ones.

Like a slowly melting ice cube, he lingered on her lips and against her teeth for a long time.

Then he moved to her earlobe, then to her neck, her collarbone…

Finally, he returned to her lips.

Beili heard her own heart beating very slowly, causing the oxygen in her blood to be delivered at a sluggish pace.

Her vision blurred, leaving only cold silver and the occasional sweep of gold.

…

The contours of the youth’s face gradually became sharper and more masculine. Black mist condensed into a pair of curved ram horns atop his head.

His long silver hair flowed over her shoulders like the waters of a lake at night.

It wasn’t until the icy tips of his hair slipped into the collar of her pajamas that Beili opened her eyes again.

She saw those broad shoulders and that face-paler than moonlight, with lines as perfect as a sculpture.

Seeing that he had suddenly appeared, she blinked softly, her hazy eyes brightening slightly.

She immediately followed up with the same question.

“What about you?”

At the same time, she sighed in her heart-

Sigh, this person is so troublesome. Everything has to come in pairs.

But she actually knew they were the same person.

“Of course,” the man said softly.

As if still immersed in the kiss, he licked the cold corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with a smile.

“Of course what?”

It was as if she had backed herself into a corner; she insisted on hearing him clearly state the words, “Of course I like you.”

After asking, Beili suddenly felt she was being a bit annoying. But if she was annoying, so be it-she still wanted to hear it. Otherwise, she would always feel a sense of unease.

She waited quietly for two seconds.

She heard a low, soft laugh vibrate from his Adam’s apple.

“From today onward, I am yours.”

One hand rested on the top of her head while the other stroked her face. Ashera curled his lips and said slowly, “So, don’t think about anyone else.”

Beili only heard the words “I am yours.”

Hmm… this sentence seems even better than the one I was expecting to hear.

“Alright.” She gave a faint, satisfied smile, then asked him, “Then, don’t you want to ask… if I like you?”

A sigh filled with amusement escaped him.

“I don’t need to ask anymore,” he said.

It was an unexpected answer.

“Why?”

Beili was so surprised she couldn’t help but press him again.

Was I that obvious? I only actively asked if he liked me once. Just once.

At most, I’ve been a bit more patient with him than with others. So, it shouldn’t be that obvious, right? – or so she thought.

Ashera curled his lips and said lazily, “Regardless of whether you like me or not, I’m taking you away.”

Take her away?

“Away… where to?” Beili asked, somewhat dazed.

“Probably a wonderful place, suitable for you and me.”

As he spoke, the curve of his lips deepened.

Beili was even more confused now.

Because of the way Ashera spoke, it sounded as if whether she liked him or not didn’t matter at all; he was going to hide her away anyway.

To make her his exclusive possession.

Wait a minute…

Why does this progression feel so familiar?

First of all, she knew very well what kind of person Ashera was.

If summarized with ten attribute points, it would be: three points yandere, three points crazy, three points gloomy, and one final point of pure-heartedness.

Secondly, having devoured countless novels, Beili knew that whenever a character with those first three attributes met the person they liked…

Most would automatically unlock a specific hobby-

Locking that person in a “little black room.”

So, Ashera wouldn’t be thinking of locking her up, would he? Beili guessed instinctively.

Better not.

After all, that would be a bit boring.

She still preferred the two of them traveling and playing around together. Whether it was a beautiful place like Rose Town or a bizarre place like Blood Curse Town, they could leave behind special memories.

So-

“What is the name of that place you mentioned?”
Beili asked softly.

Intervention had to happen early.

She felt that this relationship had only just begun, and she could still pull someone who was heading down the wrong path back to reality.

But that someone wasn’t talking.

He only chuckled lowly.

It was as if he had mentioned it in passing, and even if it wasn’t, there was absolutely no need to consult the person involved for their opinion.

“Is this something you can’t talk about?”

Beili asked him tentatively.

If he wouldn’t say, she would rather believe he was trying to keep it from her than believe it was due to some contractual restriction or prohibition.

Ashera lowered his hollow golden eyes and said slowly, “I suppose it can be said.”

“Then hurry up and say it.”

Beili urged him.

Only by hearing it could she persuade him to give up.

Ashera lowered his head, his chin resting against her temple as if the words he was about to utter were some sweet confession of love.

“That place is Hell.” His voice carried a hint of a smile. “My dear Little Butterfly, we will be together there forever.”

He said.

“…”

Beili: …?

Beili was rendered speechless by Ashera’s words.

This sentence didn’t seem any different from ‘I’ll find a way to kill you’…

Beili wanted to cry but had no tears.

This was even more tragic than going to a ‘little dark room.’

While being locked in a ‘little dark room’ was boring, at least there was a way to survive.

…

On the other side, seeing that she remained silent, Ashera was in no hurry.

Their embracing posture didn’t change; Ashera still held her gently, his chin still pressed against her forehead.

After finishing his sentence, he simply lowered his hollow golden eyes slowly, seemingly sensing her current emotions.

Amidst a wave of honey-sweet emotions, some surprise, fear, helplessness, and resistance arose.

Then, those hollow golden eyes lifted again.

Ashera’s fingertips hooked a strand of the girl’s long, silvery-gray curly hair, then idly wound it around his cold finger, loop after loop.

It was as if no matter what happened, the idea of taking her away would never change in his heart.

…

“Are you… serious?”

Within the broad, cold embrace, Beili looked up.

Then, she saw Ashera lazily curl his lips and give a slight nod.

Even if he shook his head and said it was just a joke, Beili had a strong premonition that he was being serious.

But for a moment, she didn’t know how to advise him. After all, that was his happy home.

She could only try a compromise-

“I know you have a soft spot for that place and your own unique perspective on it… but can we go a bit later?”

She said tactfully:

“For example, wait until the day I’m old and don’t want to go anywhere?”

“Actually, you won’t have to wait that long.”

She continued nonchalantly, “Waiting another seventy years or so should be about right.”

Behind her, the man’s hand slowly twirled her hair. He chuckled but remained silent.

Silence was a refusal.

Beili quietly lifted her eyes to look at him.

By the moonlight, she could see a soft curve hanging at the corner of his lips. There was no unusual expression on his perfectly lined face.

Only then did she ask again:

“Why aren’t you answering me?”

The man still didn’t speak.

Silence was still a refusal.

An unspeaking Ashera was very dangerous.

He must be hiding something, or secretly planning some mischief.

At times like this, Beili would miss Ashera’s Youth Form more.

Because although that fellow stuttered and didn’t quite know how to speak, his attitude toward her was extremely soft.

“You’re thinking of someone else.”

Keenly perceiving her brief lapse in concentration, Ashera suddenly spoke softly.

“Someone else? No. I’m thinking of another you.”

She hinted tactfully, “If the one talking to me right now were the other you, he would definitely agree to my suggestion.”

Ashera didn’t follow her lead at all.

“Don’t you want to be with me forever?” he asked.

“That’s not what my words meant.”

“That’s how it sounds to me,” he said.

She took a light breath and said euphemistically, “I just don’t want to go to that place you mentioned too quickly. I still have many things I want to do.”

“All those things are more important than me.”

He suddenly let out a sigh. “It seems you really don’t like me…”

Beili: …

How did this person become so ‘silver-tongued’?

She opened her mouth, just about to say something to brainwash Ashera, when the cold hand suddenly left her hair and gently caressed her face.

“Sleep.”

He sighed softly.

What? Sleeping already? They hadn’t finished talking yet.

The man placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and tightened his arms, pulling the warm person into his embrace like he was holding a kitten.

Then, there was the sleep-inducing Requiem.

Beili, as she drifted into a stupor: …

She hated the Requiem.
