Chapter 212

Beili felt like reaching into the Communication Orb and covering Madam Constance’s mouth right then and there.

“Mother, it’s not what you think.”

With a look of helplessness, she interrupted Madam Constance’s words.

“Then what is it?”

The amusement in Madam Constance’s voice became even more apparent, her tone teasing as she said, “Luoluo-that night, you held your mother’s hand and shouted in front of so many people that the Second Prince was your favorite person. You said you were going to marry him, and if you couldn’t, the two of you would elope immediately.”

Say… what?

Beili’s brows furrowed instantly. She whipped her head around again to look at the culprit on the bed.

The culprit was indeed pretending to sleep, as the smile at the corners of his lips was even deeper than before.

On the other side of the Communication Orb, Madam Constance noticed her silence. She stopped teasing and asked with more concern, “What’s wrong, Luoluo? Did you and your little lover have another fight?”

Beili frowned. She had no intention of telling Madam Constance about these complicated matters, so she said softly, “It’s nothing. We didn’t fight.”

“Then where are you two playing now?” Madam Constance yawned and asked.

“In…”

Beili paused. She didn’t know where this place was either, so she could only give a vague description. “A place where it never stops raining.”

Madam Constance let out a long, drawn-out “Oh.”

“If the rain never stops, then there won’t be much to do. Luoluo, your little lover really doesn’t know how to pick a vacation spot.”

Beili gave a noncommittal hum.

She remembered how she had been afraid that Madam Constance would be heartbroken if she couldn’t find her, but that problem no longer existed.

So, she cleared her throat and awkwardly ended the call. “I’ll explain it to you when I get back, Mother.”

“Alright, alright. You two stay safe and don’t play too wild. Especially the Second Prince…”

Madam Constance gave a pointed instruction. “Tell him to be gentle. Don’t be as crude as the children from the Wolf Family.”

Beili responded with a hint of helplessness.

When she turned her gaze back, she saw that Ashera had opened his eyes at some point. His golden eyes were watching her thoughtfully.

The communication cut off.

Beili and Ashera stared at each other in silence for a few seconds.

For a moment, she didn’t know whether she should thank him for thoughtfully informing Madam Constance or be angry that he had bewitched her into saying those strange things.

After thinking for a moment, she ultimately said nothing. She looked away and fell quiet.

Ashera reached out his hand toward her and said softly, “Come here.”

Beili turned her face away stiffly. “I’m not coming.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, there was a crisp snap of fingers.

In an instant, she fell into Ashera’s cold embrace.

Beili raised her wrist, looking with some irritation at the slightly distorted black line encircling it.

Ashera lightly stroked the hair at the back of her head and said unhurriedly, “Are you thinking about how to undo this thing right now?”

His cold hand moved from her silk-like silver-grey hair to her wrist.

His pale, large hand easily grasped her slender wrist.

Beili looked up, her red eyes flickering slightly as she asked, “Do you know how to undo it?”

As soon as she asked, she realized that Ashera definitely knew.

So, she changed her question and asked directly:
“How do I break it?”

Ashera chuckled softly and leaned his head close to her ear. His icy breath brushed against her earlobe, carrying a faint chill.

“Once your Mana is greater than mine, you’ll be able to break it.”

It wasn’t as if she had no chance at all.

Before this, Ashera’s Mana Pool had run dry twice. It was just that back then, she hadn’t thought to take advantage of the opportunity to break the seal.

“Also, why can’t I use my Mana?”

Hearing Ashera mention Mana, Beili took the chance to ask.

Ashera curled his lips and answered lazily, “Because I don’t want you to use it, of course.”

“…”

Beili rolled her eyes internally.

“Right, you can see now.”

After thinking quickly for a few seconds, she suppressed her emotions and softened her expression. In a calm tone, she brought something up to him.

“Do you want to see what that oil painting the street artist in Rose Town did for us looks like?”

As if his interest had been piqued, Ashera raised an eyebrow slightly and said, “Take it out and let me see.”

Beili turned her head, showing a hesitant look, and said tactfully, “That… I can’t take it out.”

Ashera’s lips curved slightly as he followed her lead. “Why?”

Beili immediately glared at him with renewed confidence, mimicking his sarcastic tone as she shot back, “Because I don’t want to show you, of course.”

Ashera chuckled again, a trace of soft light flickering in his golden eyes.

He tilted his head and looked at her for two seconds.

Then, somehow, a piece of wood suddenly appeared in his hand.

Ashera raised his hand and lightly scraped her nose with the wood, then lazily curled his lips and began to admire the oil painting on it.

Beili was stunned for a moment. She immediately looked down and rummaged through her Spatial Bracelet, only then confirming that the piece of wood in Ashera’s hand had indeed been taken from her bracelet.

“Wait…”

Beili was suddenly exasperated. She reached out to grab it while saying, “How can you just go through my things like that?”

When did this guy take it? How did he do it?

Ashera ignored her indignant questioning, always managing to move the wood aside a split second before she could touch it.

His golden eyes lowered slightly, his gaze falling on the wood in his hand.

He looked at the oil painting on the wood, a clear smile tugging at the corners of his cold, thin lips.

…

The rain outside the window gradually stopped.

Even after the rain ceased in this Town, the sky remained a dull gray, shrouded in a heavy layer of gloom.

A thick white mist drifted through the Town, carrying a damp, cold breath that seeped into every corner.

Ashera was a Demon and felt no hunger; he didn’t need three meals a day like a human.

But Beili couldn’t do that; she had been feeling hungry for a while.

After snatching the oil painting back from Ashera, Beili had been staring out the window, waiting for the rain to stop.

Once it finally did, she immediately suggested to Ashera that they go out to find something to eat.

The two went downstairs.

Beili had originally thought of having Ashera ask the clerk at the Inn for the location of some nearby food stalls with good flavors, which would save them some wandering.

However, after reaching the ground floor, she found that the clerk was not in the Inn.

It was empty behind the counter, with only a table and chair standing there.

On the street outside the Inn, commoners or Half-beasts passed by from time to time.

Beili looked toward them and noticed they were all heading in the same direction, carrying bowls, kettles, or other containers.
