Survival Guide After Accidentally Kissing a Demon - Chapter 238
Chapter 238
Beili fell back asleep, cradling Madam Constance in her arms.
When she woke the next morning, the first thing Beili did was turn her head to look for Madam Constance beside her.
But the space was empty.
From outside the tent, however, came the sound of Madam Constance chatting and laughing with others.
Beili listened quietly for a while.
The loud, slightly sharp voice was full of the familiarity and tact possessed by Noble women who frequented various banquets and balls.
She showed no stage fright, even in front of strangers.
Even if the laughter was hollow.
Inside the tent, Beili couldn’t help but recall Madam Constance’s unusual body temperature from the night before.
Doubts flickered in her heart.
She raised her hand and summoned the Morpho Butterflies that had stood watch last night.
A butterfly fluttered its wings, landing lightly on her fingertip.
“Tell me, what exactly happened last night?” she asked softly.
After a moment of silence, Beili received all the information.
According to the Morpho Butterflies’ description, Madam Constance had simply held her and slept peacefully through the night.
Then, as dawn broke, she had gotten up and left the tent.
There was nothing unusual beyond that.
Beili wanted to ask more, but her gaze was suddenly drawn to the butterfly itself.
She noticed that the Morpho Butterflies seemed to have changed again.
The edges of their originally beautiful shimmering blue-green wings were now stained with a thick ring of black.
As for changes in its abilities-
Perhaps its corrosive poison had become stronger, or perhaps it had gained other unknown abilities; she didn’t know yet.
She hadn’t encountered any danger along the way, nor had she been in the mood to observe her summoned Morpho Butterflies.
Thus, she wasn’t sure when the change had occurred.
Blinking her red eyes, Beili set her doubts aside for the moment. She dressed and stepped out of the tent.
Outside, the massive bonfire had long since been extinguished. A thin wisp of smoke drifted from the firewood, which had burned down to black-gray charcoal.
Beili looked up.
She saw Madam Constance surrounded by four or five young Tilisha men, laughing and talking.
Beili walked toward them expressionlessly.
The men, whose faces had been brimming with enthusiasm as they held breakfast items like camel milk, bread pudding, and coarse wheat coconut cakes, immediately stopped their chatter when the young girl appeared. They hurriedly stuffed the items into Madam Constance’s hands.
In short, Beili found that the moment she appeared, the atmosphere instantly became awkward.
Some of them coughed incessantly, while others stole glances at her, their eyes filled with obvious fluster.
Seeing this, Madam Constance looked back at her with a knowing smirk.
“Oh-Luoluo, Mama knew it was you coming over.”
Carrying the breakfast the men had brought, she pulled Beili over to a wooden chair to sit down.
“Luoluo, come and try these. They’re all freshly made delicacies sent over from the Town.”
Beili frowned slightly as she glanced back at the men, then at the breakfast in Madam Constance’s hands, before silently taking the food and beginning to eat.
During a gap in her eating-
“Those men are all here for you, Luoluo,”
Madam Constance leaned in and whispered into her ear with a giggle.
“They asked Mama for your name and, of course, whether you have a husband.”
“Even though Mama said you have an engagement-oh, even though you don’t acknowledge that engagement-and Mama also said you have a lover, they didn’t seem to care at all.”
As she spoke, Madam Constance couldn’t help but chuckle.
“The men of Tilisha are certainly passionate.”
Beili ate her breakfast in silence, offering no response to Madam Constance’s remark. However, as she ate, she suddenly reached out and touched the woman’s wrist.
At the same time, she asked, “Mother, do you remember coming to my tent to sleep last night?”
Madam Constance replied with a natural expression, “Of course I remember.”
After a short silence, Beili spoke up again. “Mother, do you remember what scent of perfume you were wearing when we were in Valniesnow Town?”
“Back then…”
Hearing this, Madam Constance paused. She lifted a hand to lightly rest her chin on it, recalling the memory as she spoke. “Even though it was such a long time ago… if I was going to Valniesnow Town to see you, then I must have been wearing rose-scented perfume.”
“Because when you were little, you loved it most when I wore that scent.”
Madam Constance finished her explanation with a smile. Seeing the young girl nod thoughtfully, she asked curiously, “What is it, Luoluo? Why are you suddenly asking about this?”
“It’s nothing.”
Taking a sip of camel milk, Beili shook her head gently and said calmly, “I just suddenly remembered it, so I thought I’d ask.”
‘Madam Constance’s body temperature is warm,’ Beili noted silently to herself.
Perhaps she was just being overly cautious and overthinking things.

After finishing breakfast, Beili brushed the cake crumbs off her hands and turned to Madam Constance. “Mother, let’s pay them for the breakfast. We’re heading out.”
Madam Constance barely had time to react. After a dazed “Ah?” she asked, “Heading out where?”
“To the next town,” she replied calmly.
“I thought we were going to stay here for a couple more days, Luoluo.”
Madam Constance’s voice was full of surprise and confusion. “Didn’t you just find a guide yesterday and plan to have some fun?”
That was true…
However, that cold embrace from last night had left her with a lingering sense of dread.
Coupled with the memory of the communication Madam Constance had sent to the Duke yesterday, Beili decided it was best to be cautious. She wanted to leave this town and keep moving.
“I did…” Beili made up a random excuse. “But after looking at the spots the guide recommended, I don’t think there’s much to do here.”
“Mother, please just agree-”
She softened her voice, pleading gently, “Let’s go to the next location and take our time enjoying ourselves there, okay?”
Madam Constance looked at Bartholomew’s expectant eyes. She hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.
“Alright, alright-” her voice was full of helpless affection. “Wherever our Luoluo wants to go, that’s where Mother will go.”
Then, Madam Constance stood up and walked toward the men who were waiting anxiously.
After smiling and exchanging a few words with them, she pulled some gold coins from her handbag to offer them.
The men showed obvious disappointment, but they refused Madam Constance’s gold coins.
They simply bowed like gentlemen, casting one last lingering look at the grey-haired, red-eyed girl before departing, looking back several times as they walked away.
