Chapter 249

That person sat there quietly, wearing Mrs. Constance’s skin.

One arm was propped on the table, supporting his head. His gaze seemed to pass through the window and look outside.

Moonlight filtered in through several layers of gauze curtains, but the room was filled with a black mist even the moonlight could not dissolve.

Although it had already happened, and this was only a replay of the scene, Beili’s heart still could not help pounding heavily in her chest.

Because she could tell from his back alone that Ashera was furious, to say nothing of the black, viscous liquid hanging like spiderwebs in every corner of the room.

But at the time, alcohol had numbed her nerves, and she had not noticed anything wrong at all.

“Lance.”

Back then, she had sensed that Mrs. Constance was angry, but she had only answered sluggishly, “He sent a letter to Butterfly Valley before. Mother, you know about that too.”

Then she heard a sigh come from that dark, brooding back.

It was as though, after careful consideration, he had decided how he would punish her-and chosen to carry it out.

Thick black mist, rich as silk ribbons, drifted out from the person’s shadow.

It coiled around her ankles.

Loop after loop, it bound her entire body.

Beili’s heart beat even faster. A deep fear spread from the bottom of her heart, but at this moment, there was no way back.

She could only keep reminding herself that this was something that had happened before, and that it was already over.

Just as she thought that, Beili’s vision blurred, and her whole body fell into an icy embrace.

Her face was lifted by cold fingers.

In the hazy moonlight, his perfectly sculpted features were paler than the moon itself.

Lashes like black feathers lowered together with golden eyes, and his cold, thin lips held not the slightest curve.

His silver hair, as if soaked in snowflakes, poured down like a waterfall when he lowered his head. The frigid ends curled against her gauze dress.

The chill seeped downward through the thin fabric.

“Ashera, is that you…”

Beili heard herself recognize the man before her. Her blurred voice carried a trace of surprise as she called his name.

The black ribbons wrapped tightly around her body. She wanted to break free, but it was useless.

“Let go of me.”

She demanded it.

“Before, I said that I belonged to you, Little Butterfly.” The man’s voice held not a hint of amusement. “Now those words must change…”

He carried her as he stood, and in the next instant, they teleported onto the bed.

Beili felt her back sink into the soft, fluffy bedding. Then his icy figure loomed over her, along with his moonlit silver hair spilling down like a cascade.

Beili saw black veins of blood rapidly crawl across his eyes.

Beneath his long lashes, there was only black, gold, and a thin wash of scarlet left.

[You love me.]

His cold, thin lips did not part, but those three words seemed to have come from his mouth, echoing again and again inside her mind.

“I…”

In her trembling red eyes, Beili heard herself speak indistinctly, her voice full of hesitation and misgivings.

In the end, she closed her eyes and shook her head in resistance.

Her face was immediately seized and forced upward.

Cold lips crushed against hers, invading her with a trace of bitter chill.

He kissed her deeply.

[You love me.]

Those three dark-red words echoed in her mind again and again, swelling larger, occupying every thought.
Beili felt as if her head were about to split open just from reliving that experience.

“I love… I love you…”

She heard herself speak in the gaps between deep kisses, her tone sounding more like a plea for mercy.

A cold hand brushed aside her slightly disheveled gray hair.

The purple cropped top, sewn all over with tiny gold sequins and beads, was tugged upward.

“Now, you belong to me.”

He pinned her hand down and left a bite mark along that elegant, undulating curve.

“Only to me.”

…

Beili could clearly feel the pain as the bite mark was left behind, and she heard herself let out a pained hum.

“No.”

The faint voice seemed to come from behind the man, like an auditory hallucination.

“No.”

“No… she will…”

That voice sounded again. It was not a hallucination.

So in Ashera’s dream, she could hear the two forms speaking to each other.

Beili struggled to focus, trying to make out what he was saying.

The next second,

the silver-haired, golden-eyed man suddenly braced his arms and lifted his face.

In the darkness, a heavy gloom gathered between his brows and eyes.

His manic, ice-cold golden eyes, crawling with black blood vessels, slowly flicked to the side.

“Shut up-”

When he spoke, that torn, hoarse voice seemed to come from every corner of the room.

It scared Beili half to death.

“No.”

“Say another word and I’ll kill you-”

The man spoke again.

That terrifying voice sounded muffled, as if it came from under a drum, full of fury and killing intent.

“I didn’t say anything…”

She had been frightened too at the time.

Beili heard herself refute him with trembling red eyes.

When those golden eyes lowered to look at her, the gloom gathered between his brows dispersed.

His hand reached over. His cold fingers rubbed her ear, and only then did Beili realize her ear was as hot as burning charcoal.

“I didn’t say anything just now.”

She said it again.

At last, the corners of his thin, cold lips tugged into the faintest curve.

Beili saw the black blood vessels in those eyes begin to recede.

“I know.”

Ashera rubbed her ear, saying with a smile that was not quite a smile,

“That wasn’t meant for you.”

Hearing him, Beili immediately guessed who Ashera had been speaking to just now.

That boy.

“Don’t do that to her… she can’t withstand it… she’ll die…”

The broken voice came from behind the man, sometimes clear, sometimes blurred.

“Then will you kill him?”

She heard herself ask, her voice tinged with worry.

“What do you think…”

Ashera gave a low laugh and tilted his head.

His long silver hair, gathered with starlight, clung to his cheek, outlining a beautiful curve.

“Were you worried about him just now?”

As he spoke, his golden eyes flicked slightly to the right, as if he were listening to someone.

“Mm… even after being bewitched, she’s still worried about me… so cute…”

As if he had heard something amusing, Ashera’s lashes curved.

“You should worry about yourself, Little Butterfly.”

He tugged at the Black Robe, revealing the pale, gray-tinged, graceful lines beneath his shoulder and neck.

“All you need to know is that what I want is far more than you imagine.”

[Little Butterfly]
