Chapter 256

“There’s no clean water…”

Beili walked over, about to remind him, only to see that a golden bathtub had appeared in the bathroom, filled to the brim with clean water.

“Uh… you took all this from the palace?”

“Yes.”

Ashera gave a slight nod. Once she came closer, he reached behind her, took hold of the ties at her back, and gently undid them.

The neckline of her dress loosened.

Beili crossed her arms in front of herself and held the black dress in place so it wouldn’t slide down.

“All right. I can do the rest myself.”

Her ears reddened faintly as she spoke in a soft voice.

Ashera seemed not to hear her. From behind her, he reached out and hooked his fingers into the opened black dress, pressing it down a little.

Beili was just starting to feel puzzled when she heard a faint, indistinct boyish voice coming from behind her.

“Between the dimples of her lower back… there is a red mole…”

Beili: …

Fine. This guy actually thought she was a fake.

Beili silently loosened her grip a little so he could get a clearer look.

She had entered the dream herself. She hadn’t used the puppet he mentioned as a substitute-if only there were such a convenient option.

Still…

Her heart was inside her body. There was no way Ashera couldn’t tell whether she was real or not…

“Behind her left ear… there is one…”

Ashera gently brushed her ear aside.

“On the inside of her left arm… there is one too…”

Ashera’s hand slipped from her back into her sleeve, his fingertip pressing along the inside of her left arm as he searched.

“On her right ankle…”

Ashera lowered his golden eyes and looked at her meaningfully.

Beili’s thoughts drifted for a moment, and she nearly lifted her foot. Then something suddenly occurred to her-

Perhaps Ashera was testing whether she could hear the boy’s voice inside his body.

If he found out she could,

he would almost immediately be able to deduce that this place was not the real world.

The thought surfaced in Beili’s mind, and her fingertips paused.

Then she let go and turned back.

The thin black gauze dress slid down.

Actually, there was no need to worry too much.

If a dream was beautiful enough, detailed enough, and lasted long enough, it would be taken as reality.

Beili thought silently.

As for beauty-

She tilted her head.

Her curled lashes lifted along with her dark red eyes. In an inviting tone, she asked the person behind her,

“Do you… want to bathe with me?”

At those words, both Ashera and the boy inside his body fell silent.

Then,

Ashera let out a soft laugh. He bent slightly and leaned close to her ear, asking in a low voice,

“May I?”

“No…”

An anxious boyish voice came from within the man’s body.

Beili looked at the face so close to hers, its lines as perfect as a sculpture, and at the beautiful molten-gold eyes beneath his lashes.

“You may.”

Beili softly breathed out the two words.

Then, as if bewitched by his smile, she quietly leaned forward and pressed her lips to Ashera’s cool ones.

A warm cloud brushed over her, carrying the same warm fragrance from his neck and shoulders.

Ashera’s lashes lowered, and in an instant, a thick darkness surged in the depths of his eyes.

“Don’t… tempt me.”

The words came with a sigh, as though he were desperately restraining something.

Beili only felt her body lighten. The next second, she was lifted up and lowered into the warm water, with only her head left above the surface.

By the time she came back to herself, the silver-haired figure in Black Robe had already left the bathroom.

Oh. He had even closed the door behind him.

“…”

Submerged in the warm water, Beili stared at the empty bathroom in a daze for a long while.

Had she just… been rejected?

That was an unexpected outcome.

But she was used to it. Ashera’s thoughts had always been difficult to grasp.

Beili lowered her red eyes and silently told the Morpho Butterflies to speed up the bathing process.
Her red eyes blinked softly. When they opened again, she had already changed into a nightgown and stepped out of the bathroom, appearing in the bedroom.

The ends of her hair were still damp.

Ashera was nowhere to be seen.

Only a few ribbon-like wisps of thick black mist remained, drifting aimlessly through the air.

Beili’s red eyes paused. In her mind, she asked the Morpho Butterflies where he had gone.

The Morpho Butterflies told her Ashera had gone to the nearby Town.

It seemed he was checking the other Town areas to see whether they had fallen into the same state as Tilisha Imperial City.

That was good.

The more Ashera cared about what was happening around them, the more at ease she felt.

Just as she was thinking that, the Morpho Butterflies suddenly updated Beili on the latest situation-

He was on his way back.

Beili had just raised her hand, intending to give the command for her damp, chilly hair to dry. After a moment’s thought, she lowered it again.

Less than ten seconds later, a mass of black mist flew back into the room through the window.

Ashera, silver-haired and clad in the Black Robe, stepped out from the spreading black mist.

-Ever since he had gotten his body back, this guy was no longer in a floating state, though he still had the habit of leaving his pale feet bare and stepping on the air.

“Where did you go?”

Beili asked in a puzzled tone, then quickly walked over and hugged him with a trace of dependence.

A large palm settled over her back, brushing against her wet hair.

He hooked a fingertip around a lock and gently lifted it.

Then all the moisture in her hair vanished.

“I only went to look around the area.”

He answered.

“What did you see?”

Beili followed his words and asked.

“Nothing.”

He answered.

“So you just went out for some air?”

“Yes.”

…That was this guy’s usual way of talking, all right.

Seeing the slight twitch at the corner of her mouth, Ashera curled his lips faintly. Then he lifted her into his arms, and in the blink of an eye, they appeared on the bed.

He pulled the soft, thin blanket over her, then pressed a kiss to her forehead. Only then did he sigh and slowly say,

“My dear Little Butterfly, Sainthos or Nauze. Choose one.”

Beili nestled in his arms. At those words, her red eyes paused.

Before she could speak, she heard Ashera continue,

“Choose one. Once you wake up, we’ll leave. This place is no longer suitable for you to stay in.”

Beili thought for a moment, then answered,

“Sainthos, then…”

“All right. Then Nauze.”

Beili: …

Seeing her speechless expression, Ashera laughed quietly.

“Now, sleep.”

The pad of his finger lightly tapped the space between her brows.

Beili felt her eyelids grow heavy all at once, and she closed them against her will.

The night was silent.

Moonlight flowed in through the window, coating the girl’s face in a soft halo.

“She said she was willing to give me her heart.”

Ashera spoke softly.

Looking at her peaceful sleeping face, he reached out and gently stroked her cheek, a smile in his eyes.

A moment later, a boy’s voice drifted faintly from within his body.

“I don’t believe it…”

…

An unknown amount of time passed.

Ashera sensed someone lying on top of him, gently tugging at his hair.

“Ashera…”

His lightly closed golden eyes snapped open, turning toward the person on him.

“Ashera.”

The girl was hugging him. Seeing that he had woken, she said with trembling red eyes, “I’m so thirsty.”

“Hm?”

Ashera propped himself up. His broad, pale hand covered her back and patted it a few times soothingly, his voice rough with sleep.

“You’re thirsty. I’ll get you some water.”

After he finished speaking, he lightly swept his fingertip through the air, only to suddenly stop.

After sleeping, half the Mana inside his body had disappeared.
