Chapter 258

“Little Butterfly… still isn’t very obedient…”

Beili heard a young man’s voice coming from inside Ashera’s body.

“Is that so?”

Ashera’s cold, thin lips curved slightly as he pinched her cheek, but there was no real smile in the depths of his golden eyes.

“Then I’m truly sorry.”

He drew her into his arms, lowered his head, and kissed her forehead. In a low, heavy voice, he said gently, “I made you worry. I won’t let something like this happen again.”

He didn’t believe her.

He simply didn’t intend to keep questioning her for the time being.

…

To prevent anything like that from happening again, Ashera packed the remaining food and water into the Spatial Pouch until it could hold no more.

In the blink of an eye, he turned into a cloud of black mist.

“We can leave now. To Nauze,” he said.

Beili nodded, then used Beast Transformation and became a butterfly.

But after only two beats of her wings, she lost control and turned back into human form, dropping as weightlessness seized her.

The black mist shifted, and an invisible force caught her in an instant.

Then the black mist condensed back into Ashera’s form.

Meeting his lowered golden eyes, she furrowed her brows and said awkwardly, “I’m out of Mana…”

Ashera tightened his arms around her, holding her even closer. Lowering his head to her ear, he murmured, “It’s all right. I’ll give you mine.”

Before his words had even faded, Beili felt the world before her darken.

Ashera kissed her on the lips.

His lips pressed to hers, prying apart her teeth. As their tongues tangled, he transferred Mana into her.

Powerful Mana surged into her Mana Pool in an instant under his guidance.

Her dark red pupils grew brighter, and the face that had become gaunt regained its smooth, graceful contours.

When their lips parted, she lifted her eyes to Ashera and asked, “Do you still have a lot of Mana left?”

Ashera never told her such things, but just now, he had nearly filled her Mana Pool.

“Enough to take you to Nauze.”

Ashera gave a low laugh, then raised his hand. Black mist once again poured from his palm, gradually enveloping them both.

“Don’t worry.”

Within the black mist, he lowered his eyes to the person in his arms, his voice gentle.

“If it’s not enough, we can catch a few Mage individuals on the way to fill our stomachs.”

The Mage individuals here couldn’t provide Mana.

Ashera must have already noticed that the Mana inside his body was only flowing out and not replenishing at all.

But he wasn’t anxious in the slightest.

He really ought to be a little more anxious.

Beili pressed her lips together lightly. Unable to say anything more, she and Ashera became a cloud of black mist and a butterfly, flying out of Tilisha Imperial City.

In this Western fantasy world, Tilisha had the largest territory of the three kingdoms.

Without the Teleportation Array, beyond the imperial city lay vast stretches of desert with no end in sight.

They flew for a very long time without seeing even the shadow of the next Town.

Ashera was accommodating her speed.

And Beili was indeed deliberately flying a little slower.

Right now, she could only take things one step at a time. If she could delay even a little, then she would.

If only this guy’s Mana would run out.

But a Demon probably had nothing to fear.

Something that could make him feel troubled, naturally drain all his Mana, and not arouse his suspicion… Beili couldn’t even imagine it.

Did she have to speed up the flow of time in the dream again?

Morpho Butterflies, oh Morpho Butterflies, help me think of something too-

Beili muttered helplessly in her heart.

After they had flown slowly for a long, long time…

The dark night faded, and the sun rose, dazzling in its brilliance.

Before the golden desert was scorched burning hot by the sunlight, they finally saw the outline of a Town.

The moment they flew out of the imperial city, Ashera had clearly felt the Mana inside his body disappearing faster and more noticeably.
He did not say it aloud.

Glancing at the buildings in the distance, Ashera, who had transformed into black mist, enveloped the slow-moving butterfly behind him and sped up, descending into the Town.

“Let’s rest for a while. Drink some water and eat something.”

The black mist took human form. As he spoke, he swept his gaze over their surroundings.

…

Perhaps because they had chosen a shortcut to Nauze, the Town where they stopped to rest was not as lively as the Town near Tilisha Imperial City. The houses lining both sides of the street were all low, single-story flat-roofed buildings.

There was not a soul on the street.

The wind kicked up fine grains of sand, wrapping them around the body of a dead frog by the roadside.

Colorful strips of cloth hung from the eaves, fluttering in the wind. From inside the houses came muffled singing and cheerful laughter.

“What are they doing?” Ashera asked softly.

Beili was eating flatbread and drinking water. Hearing Ashera’s question, she followed his gaze.

Through the open doors and windows of one flat-roofed house, a group of people sat gathered together, with some food laid out on the table.

A man and a woman were dressed brightly among the crowd, while the others chatted and laughed.

Several children were playing off to the side. In the center, a few young girls were singing and dancing, while men nearby shook bells, beat drums, and played a few simple instruments to accompany them.

Perhaps because the two of them had appeared so suddenly, everyone who had been singing and dancing inside stopped. Murmuring among themselves, they leaned out of the house and looked toward them in surprise and wariness.

It looked as if nearly half the Town had gathered there.

It was a wedding.

After receiving the explanation from the Morpho Butterflies, Beili told Ashera, “This is a wedding for commoners in Tilisha. It’s different from weddings in Sainthos.”

When the people in the house saw the two of them appear, they began whispering among themselves.

Ashera curved his lips and said to her, “They seem afraid of us.”

More accurately, they’re afraid of you.

Beili silently corrected him in her heart.

“Because according to the rules of the wedding, since we’ve appeared as guests, even if they don’t know us, they still have to invite us to join the wedding.”

She relayed the explanation from the Morpho Butterflies. “It represents an unexpected surprise and a stranger’s blessing. It’s considered a good omen.”

After explaining, Beili asked, “Speaking of which, if they come over and invite us, will you join?”

Ashera did not answer. Instead, he lowered his golden eyes and asked her in return, “What about you, Little Butterfly? Will you join?”

This guy always loved tossing the question back to her, as if her decision was his decision.

Beili lightly pressed her lips together. After thinking for a moment, she replied, “If they invite us, then of course there’s no reason to refuse.”

At that, Ashera gave a soft laugh. “Then let’s wait and see.”

Muffled but heated discussion came from inside the flat-roofed house.

In the end, they made their decision-

The doors and windows were slowly shut, leaving only one window open by a thin crack.

It seemed someone had been left behind the gap to watch them.

A moment later, cheerful music once again drifted out from the flat-roofed house with its tightly closed doors and windows.

Clearly, the two mysterious figures who had descended from the sky were not on the invitation list.

“As expected.”

Ashera laughed softly, then turned to her and said, “All right. Rest a little longer, and then we’ll set off again.”

Beili responded quietly.

Before they knew it, the dazzling sky had darkened. A cool wind lifted both of their hair.

The scent of dust in the air suddenly grew heavier.

Beili looked up and saw a vast mass of black clouds covering the sun. Rumbling thunder came from within the dark clouds.

It looked like it was about to rain.

If it rained, they would not be able to leave.

Ashera lifted his head and glanced at the gloomy sky, which looked as though it might come pressing down at any moment. His handsome brows drew together.
