Chapter 291

…

A moment later.

One of the Morpho Butterflies returned, its wings shimmering with a faint blue-green glow.

It fluttered lightly around Beili, bringing back good news-

Renee was indeed inside Holy Island Academy, in Holy Island Academy’s handicraft room.

The handicraft room.

To be honest, Beili had been at Holy Island Academy for quite some time, but she had never once been there.

Holy Island Academy was very large.

It had not only classrooms for teaching magic, a library with an extensive collection of books, and potion rooms for magical experiments.

Beyond that, it also provided students with painting rooms, piano rooms, dance rooms, and so on.

As for the handicraft room, it was a place where students could make little trinkets in their spare time for amusement.

Following the guidance of the Morpho Butterflies, Beili soon appeared inside Holy Island Academy’s handicraft room.

Handicraft tables fitted with warm Fluorite Lamp lighting were arranged in neat rows. The tools on each table were plentiful and complete, with every sort imaginable.

Making crafts was far more interesting than memorizing spells, so there were quite a few students in the handicraft room.

Beili slowly walked inside, her red eyes sweeping lightly across the room.

Some students were stringing beautiful pearls they had picked up by the beach into delicate Bracelet.

Some were pasting tiny shells onto drawing paper.

Others were turning collected mermaid scales into blooming roses.

Beili’s gaze passed over them as she searched for Renee.

Until-

From the corner of her eye, she caught a flash of red moving in a panic, hurrying out of the handicraft room.

Clearly, it had seen her.

That guilty little fox.

…

Watching the red fox flee in disarray through another door of the handicraft room, Beili’s lips curved coldly.

Then-

She instantly used Beast Transformation and became a butterfly, flying over the heads of the students doing crafts as she chased after it at high speed.

The fox ran extremely fast, its body light and agile, and it was skilled at hiding its tracks.

Beili burned Mana to accelerate her flight.

In the blink of an eye, she flew out of the handicraft room.

At the same time, behind her, a swarm of Morpho Butterflies seemed to split into existence, along with a huge, dark Black Bone Scythe radiating a chilling aura.

Seeing the fox’s figure about to vanish around a corner, Beili issued an order in her mind to the Black Bone Scythe and the Morpho Butterflies-

They had to catch that fox, even if it meant cutting off all four of her legs.

The instant they received the command, the Black Bone Scythe and the Morpho Butterflies overtook her, flying swiftly toward the fox as it turned the corner.

…

The Morpho Butterflies beat their wings, like a dazzling yet oppressive cloud of light, constantly shrinking the encirclement.

The enormous Black Bone Scythe flashed with an icy gleam, whistling through the air in sharp, merciless arcs.

The blade marks swept past Renee, and the fierce wind they stirred up made her fur stand on end as she let out shriek after shriek.

Renee, who had used Beast Transformation to become a fox, fled desperately under the relentless pursuit and blockade of the Morpho Butterflies and the Black Bone Scythe.

As she ran, she cursed.

Her tone was full of defiance.

Her paws alternated rapidly against the ground, claws scraping over the surface and scattering fine pebbles and dust.

Narrow alleys and cluttered corners piled high with junk could not stop the Morpho Butterflies and the Black Bone Scythe from closing in.

Before long, her fiery red fur was covered in dust, leaving her in a sorry state.

Until-

At the wall of a dead-end alley, Renee had nowhere left to retreat.

One of the Morpho Butterflies landed lightly. In the blink of an eye, it became a young girl with silver-gray hair and red eyes.

She walked forward slowly, her gemlike dark-red eyes seeming to have frosted over with ice.

“Princess Renee, hand over my things while I still have the patience to speak nicely to you.”

She threatened her.

The little fox in the corner lifted its two empty eye sockets. From its sharp, long fox muzzle came a young girl’s voice, sounding as if she had admitted defeat yet was trying to act as though nothing had happened.

“Your things? What things? I don’t know!”

Seeing that Renee was still playing dumb, Beili lifted a fingertip, and the Black Bone Scythe instantly pressed forward.

The dark, razor-sharp blade nearly touched the fox’s nose.

The little fox retreated farther into the corner, still forcing herself to remain calm as she stubbornly said,

“Don’t do anything reckless. I am Tilisha’s only princess!”

Beili ignored her words. Her lowered red eyes were shadowed, the depths of them sinking bit by bit.

“Then, Tilisha’s only princess-”

Her lips curved into a smile as vivid as a rose, and she asked softly,

“How about I cut off every last hair on your body?”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

Beili raised her pale brows slightly.

“Then I’ll erase this memory of yours, so when you wake up in bed, you’ll discover you’ve become Tilisha’s one and only hairless fox.”

“You wouldn’t dare-!!”
Beili said nothing more.

Her gemlike dark-red eyes rested calmly on the fox.

Then-

She sighed, as if the last of her patience had finally worn away, and raised her hand.

The Black Bone Scythe pressed close again, poised to scrape down from the top of the fox’s head.

“Stop-stop!”

Driven into a corner, the little fox cried out, then changed back into a red-haired, golden-eyed girl.

Renee lifted both hands to clutch her vividly red hair, her face going frighteningly pale.

Beili reached out to her and crooked a finger.

In a fluster, Renee pulled the Black Lamb pillow out from behind her.

Beili snatched it over at once.

She sneered, already thinking that she had to teach Renee a lesson she would remember, when she suddenly noticed…

The Black Lamb pillow, curled up in a Donut shape, now had a little red outfit on it.

Beili pressed her lips together, stunned for a moment.

Before she could react, Renee stamped her foot from the corner and shouted in exasperation,

“This is so annoying! I just wanted to make it some clothes, then give both of us a way out, and somehow it turned into this-”

“So annoying, so annoying!”

Beili turned her red eyes toward the red-haired girl. The chill in her gaze had not faded, but now there was a trace of astonishment, along with wary scrutiny.

“What do you mean?” she asked quietly.

“What do I mean?”

Renee gave a huff.

Beili pointed at the red outfit on the lamb pillow and asked, “You made these clothes?”

Renee crossed her arms over her chest and turned her head away, muttering, “So what if I did?”

Beili’s brows drew together. She was clearly a little surprised by Renee’s attitude.

“Pushing you that day really was my fault. I wanted to make up with you… Ugh, this is so annoying. Who told Brother Lance to like you!”

Renee’s brows nearly shot up to the sky as she spoke, even angrier than before.

Why-

This was completely different from how she had acted inside the Dream Cage.

It was as if… she had forgotten what happened in the dream.

Beili was silent for a moment before slowly saying, “You shouldn’t have stolen my things, Renee.”

“It was just a pillow!”

Renee widened her false golden eyes and shouted, “Who knew you’d react so violently? And be so mean about it!”

Then her voice dropped into a mumble.

“I really don’t know what Brother Lance likes about you.”

“…”

The two fell into a stalemate.

After a long while, Beili thought it over in confusion, and her expression eased slightly.

She lightly pinched the little red outfit on the Black Lamb and said softly, “I’ll let it go this time. Don’t do it again.”

Renee gave a heavy huff and turned her head away.

“Again? As if I’ll ever be this kindhearted again!”

…

After Lance and Renee woke up, both of them forgot what they had experienced in the dream world.

But Renee still remembered what she had done before losing consciousness-

In order to search for clues about the Second Prince of Sainthos, she had turned Bartholomew’s room upside down.

Later, when Brother Lance took out the Golden Eye to search for the Memory Jar, she had fought him for it.

The struggle had been intense.

Renee was nearly frantic. The moment she got the Golden Eye, she quickly twisted it open.

Oh… perhaps she had been too flustered, because she accidentally opened it to the highest setting.

Immediately after that, she and Brother Lance lost consciousness.

Renee was the first to wake, and she felt nothing unusual.

Brother Lance was in much worse shape than she was.

He had forgotten even more things, and his whole person had become quiet and withdrawn, no longer the lively, cheerful person he used to be.

He often sat alone in a corner, lost in thought, or stared blankly at Bartholomew.

Renee’s father, the king of Tilisha, had sent her several messages asking why Brother Lance was not answering his communications.

Renee was terrified inside. She did not dare let her father know.

Although her father loved her, if he found out what had happened, he would definitely make her return to Tilisha.

So Renee could only rack her brains for excuses to muddle through.

…

Life seemed to return to normal.

Holy Island Academy’s rule of having one Rest Day each month had not changed.

Today happened to be Rest Day.

To prevent another accidental entry into the Dream Cage, Beili took advantage of the Rest Day and went to the Holy Church Academy Dormitory.

She raised her head and looked toward the floor-to-ceiling window on the top floor of the Holy Church Academy Dormitory.

Beili was far too familiar with this place. But now, as a student, she could not freely enter and leave this dormitory building.

Beili found the manager of the Holy Church Academy Dormitory and explained why she had come.

A moment later.

A tall, slender figure hurried out, draped in a white outer robe.

When he saw her, he looked somewhat surprised.
“Miss Bartholomew, I heard you were looking for me?”

Cassius greeted her.

His golden hair had not yet been properly combed and fell softly in the sunlight.

Beneath his bluish monocle, a flicker of surprise rose in his gentle emerald eyes.

Beili noticed a trace of fatigue in the man’s features.

A little surprised, she asked tactfully, “Doctor Cassius… have you been very busy lately?”

Doctor Cassius always addressed her formally as Miss Bartholomew, so after calling him Cassius for a while, she had somehow unconsciously gone back to using his original title as well.

At the question, Cassius smiled soundlessly, a hint of helplessness in his expression.

Prince Lance’s change in personality had left the female students of Holy Island Academy heartbroken.

Clearly, they preferred the warm and approachable Prince Lance from before.

After all, before this, Prince Lance had been witty and humorous. He replied to anyone who spoke to him and got along amiably with both men and women.

But lately, Prince Lance had almost always kept to himself.

Even when someone took the initiative to speak to him, he either pretended not to hear or simply stared at the other person in silence without saying a word.

For a time, all sorts of rumors spread through the Academy. Everyone said Prince Lance had fallen ill not long ago and burned his brain out with a fever.

As a result, every one of Magus Cassius’s classes was packed. Left with no choice, the Academy had to increase the number of Magus Cassius’s lessons.

Even when there were no seats, those female students would stand in the empty corners and insist on attending class, each of them listening with incredible focus.

Without question, most of the students attending were girls, and almost all of them were there to learn some kind of healing magic that could cure Prince Lance.

Cassius felt rather helpless about it too.

As far as he was concerned, he knew very little about the field of magic related to dreams.

So when it came to mental trauma suffered in a dream, he was powerless to help.

And from a doctor’s perspective, Prince Lance could eat, sleep, and had a healthy body free of illness or pain. That was already an excellent outcome.

As for the change in personality…

Perhaps after some time, once Lance adjusted to his current situation or came to terms with it himself, his personality would naturally become lively and cheerful again.

“I’m not busy. I just have a few more magic lessons to teach.”

Cassius answered lightly, then smiled and asked, “What about you, Miss Bartholomew? Have you been well lately?”

In the man’s emerald eyes, Beili could almost see the meaning: Say it, and he would agree to anything.

Beili lightly pressed her lips together.

“Today is Rest Day, Cassius. If possible, I’d like you to accompany me to Lottia Island.”

On the once-a-month Rest Day, students could use the only Teleportation Array open on Rest Days to travel to Lottia Island near Holy Island.

As for other places, such as Valniesnow Town, they would only be opened during longer holidays.

Cassius accepted her invitation gladly, without hesitation.

After accepting, he hesitated for two seconds, then asked in an apologetic tone, “Could you wait five minutes for me, Miss Bartholomew?”

Beili paused, then nodded in agreement.

Cassius immediately walked briskly back to the Holy Church Academy Dormitory.

When he appeared again five minutes later, the man had already changed into a neat white formal suit.

His golden hair had been carefully styled to perfection with pomade, and the fatigue between his brows had vanished without a trace. His entire person looked polished and radiant.

Beili: …

She hadn’t expected Doctor Cassius to have a bit of an idol image to maintain.

…

When the two of them came out of the Academy’s Teleportation Array, it was noon.

The sun over Lottia Island was blazing, so bright it was almost hard to keep one’s eyes open.

“Miss Bartholomew, have you had lunch?”

Beside her, the blond, green-eyed man spoke in a gentle voice.

Beili shook her head.

“You shouldn’t go hungry,” Cassius suggested with a smile. “Let’s find a restaurant and fill our stomachs first.”

Beili nodded.

Before long, they arrived at a restaurant built from a thatched shed.

The restaurant was close to the sea, and waves of hot wind carried over the damp scent of seawater.

Most restaurants on the island served seafood, while the drinks were coconut juice and cocktails.

Beili lowered her red eyes and glanced over the menu, ordering a simple lobster cream pasta.

Cassius stood behind her. After she finished ordering, he ordered a small salad, then specifically instructed the server to bring an extra empty glass when serving the meal.

Before long, the food was served.

Beili picked up her fork and twirled the pasta, just about to put it in her mouth, when she suddenly saw Doctor Cassius take a bottle labeled like tomato juice from his Spatial Artifact.
