Chapter 314

The servant said in a slight panic,

“N-nothing. I will go tidy Miss Bartholomew’s bedroom right away.”

Beili did not think too much of it.

Although her room was cleaned every day,

if she were staying overnight in the castle, the servants needed to light sleep-aiding scented candles in advance, arrange the quilt and pillows at just the right angle, and prepare fragrant balm for bathing and essential oil for hair care.

Beili gave a faint hum.

“Go prepare it. I will return to my room in half an hour.”

After that, Beili left Constance Castle and went to the abandoned mine in Butterfly Valley.

It had been more than a month, nearly two months, since the last batch of wastewater she had absorbed.

So when she arrived at the abandoned mine, she unsurprisingly discovered that the people from the Sainthos Magic Bank had delivered many more buckets of wastewater.

The buckets were packed so densely that they filled the mine and were even placed outside it.

She sensed her way inside, focused her mind, and began absorbing the Mana from the wastewater.

Without the Black Bone Scythe’s help, it took Beili longer than expected to absorb it by herself, though her speed was already far faster than when she had first begun.

A while later,

she finally finished absorbing it. She ordered the Morpho Butterflies to pour away all the wastewater in the buckets and neatly stack the empty buckets outside the mine.

When she returned to her room, the two servants tidying the room were whispering-

“Why hasn’t Miss Bartholomew come back yet? The water has gone cold…”

“According to the Duchess’s orders, we shouldn’t even be doing this…”

“Shh-”

Beili walked in and heard a few words.

Seeing her return, the two servants quickly stood and explained,

“Miss Bartholomew, the water has gone cold. I will prepare hot water for you again.”

Beili was somewhat tired. She waved a hand.

“I will handle it. You may go back and rest first.”

After the servants left, she raised her hand, and Morpho Butterflies gently flew over the bathtub.

In the blink of an eye, the water temperature in the tub rose, and a thin mist floated up.

Beili soaked in the bathtub for a while.

She did not know whether she had fallen asleep from exhaustion, but when she suddenly came back to herself, she vaguely heard birdsong from the windowsill, the kind that only appeared in the morning.

Only then did she realize that dawn had already broken.

It was morning.

Then many people in Constance Castle should be awake soon.

So now was just the right time for her to sleep.

If anything happened, the commotion would be enough to wake her from her dreams.

Thinking this, Beili tiredly lay down under the quilt, planning to sleep briefly.

Although she was sleeping in a familiar room, she did not feel at ease at all.

Part of the reason

was perhaps that the bed, pillows, and quilt in the room had all been replaced with new ones, lacking the familiar scent and feel from before.

Under her perception, the room seemed to have become much emptier.

She did not know whether it was an illusion, but many things in the room seemed to have vanished without a trace.

Thinking aimlessly like this without reaching any conclusion, Beili fell into a dazed sleep.

She should have slept only a short while.

Vaguely, hurried footsteps came into the room.

With a sharp slap,

along with the sound came a burst of pain across her face.

Someone had slapped her hard.

She woke from sleep instantly.

The other party had struck with great force.

Beili felt her face burning, and there seemed to be warm blood slowly seeping out.

Perhaps the other person’s fingernail or ring had scraped her face.

Beili froze for one second.

In the next second, her fury instantly surged like a volcano about to erupt, roiling and shaking, thick smoke billowing.

With a dark expression, Beili sat up from the bed.

At this moment, she had no mind to think about who the other party was, why they had done this, or why the Morpho Butterflies resting on the quilt had not stopped them.

She could only feel that along with her anger, swarms upon swarms of Morpho Butterflies were appearing in the room.

Dense and numerous, they could almost fill the entire room in the blink of an eye.

No matter who it was,

if they dared do this, even Susanna would not be able to stop the fate of having both hands corroded.

Immediately-

“Oh! Put away those butterflies! Do you think I will be afraid? I am telling you, even if you kill me today, I will not let you have an easy time!”

Before Beili could give the Morpho Butterflies an order, the other party had already spoken in a familiar voice.

That familiar voice, made sharp and piercing by rising emotion, entered her ears.

It was actually Duchess Constance.

Hearing Duchess Constance’s voice, the anger that had just risen in Beili was instantly doused.

All that remained was confusion and bewilderment.

She quickly sensed the other party. The face was indeed Duchess Constance’s.

In the gray-white lines formed by her perception, the woman’s brows were raised high, the corners of her mouth pressed tight and turned downward, and she was breathing heavily, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Duchess Constance’s anger left her puzzled.

Beili raised a hand and touched her still-burning cheek.

The cut skin had already stopped bleeding because of her self-healing ability.

“Mother, why would you say that?”

She asked in confusion.

“You evil ghost occupying Luoluo’s body,”

the woman immediately said with loathing and resistance in her tone. “Do not call me Mother!”

In an instant,

Beili’s thoughts were like rusted gears, stiffly jamming in place.

“Who… told you?”

She swallowed, asking with some difficulty.

Was it Ashera?

Beili guessed this first.

But Duchess Constance had no reason to believe the boy’s words, even if he was currently using the body of the Prince of Tilisha.

Besides, this matter was extremely complicated.

She had not spoken of it to anyone, not even Ashera.

So the boy should not know.

The only two people who might know that she had transmigrated into Bartholomew’s body-

were Bertie Swan, who could not be found, and Doctor Cassius.
