Chapter 326

Now, both she and the troublemaker were far away from everyone else.

At the thought, Beili suddenly felt a weight lift from her heart.

Oh, what she wouldn’t give for a cup of hot milk tea right now.

Preferably with a plate of pastries on the side.

The blizzard outside the window had grown even fiercer.

Beili glanced at it and pulled the black blanket more tightly around herself.

The black dress she wore had come from the wardrobe.

There was always a chance it might turn out to be a case of the emperor’s new clothes, but she couldn’t keep wearing her Holy Island Academy uniform forever.

In the end, Beili had compromised and put on one of the dresses from the wardrobe.

There were a few clothes in the Amber Ring, but not many.

One outfit for each season, plus a cloak for the cold. That was the entirety of the wardrobe she had brought with her.

After all, the Amber Ring had originally been meant to house Ashera’s Beast Transformation form, the Black Lamb.

Beili had never intended to make the Black Lamb share its space with a pile of odds and ends.

By now, however, the Amber Ring had strayed completely from its original purpose and become nothing more than a storage ring for miscellaneous items.

…

As her thoughts began to wander, a black orb on the table suddenly flashed, drawing her attention.

Beili blinked her red eyes in confusion, set down her Magic Book, and walked over to the table.

She regarded the orb uncertainly.

It looked almost exactly like a Communication Orb.

Just a completely black version of one.

Ashera had obviously created it with Mana.

Beili suddenly remembered that he had spent some time examining her Communication Orb yesterday.

Oh, right. Since it could neither receive nor send messages, her Communication Orb had become nothing more than a useless lump of metal upon entering the Far North.

That was why she had casually left that “useless lump of metal” on the table.

The next time she saw it, the Communication Orb had somehow ended up in Ashera’s hands.

After examining it once, that man had actually replicated it with Mana.

But the important part was this:

This Communication Orb actually had a signal in the Far North?!

Beili picked up the black orb and pressed its touch control to answer, just as she would with a Communication Orb.

The instant she touched it, the black orb projected an image as thin as a cicada’s wing.

A strikingly handsome, statue-like man appeared within it. He had silver hair, black eyes, and Black Goat Horns growing from his head.

“Oh, Ashera, what a surprise. Can this thing call other people?”

Beili’s red eyes lit up slightly as she immediately asked the question.

The man in the image gently curled his lips.

“No.”

“It can’t?” Beili complained. “Isn’t that a little too limited…?”

“This is exclusively for the two of us.”

His beautiful golden eyes narrowed slightly in warning.

“You can only call me, and I can only call you.”

“All right…” Beili sounded a little disappointed. “Why are you calling me now, then?”

She couldn’t let her disappointment show too clearly, so after a two-second pause, she added, “You’ll be back soon anyway.”

In the image, Ashera flicked his fingers and spoke at an unhurried pace.

“Think about whether you need anything besides what you wrote on the list. I won’t be making a trip here every day.”

“Why not? Can’t you make the trip for me every day?”

The words slipped out of Beili’s mouth.

Then she froze.

Oh… Had she just acted spoiled with him?

Without even realizing it?

The silver-haired, golden-eyed man with curved Black Goat Horns in the image also paused before raising an eyebrow.

“All right, if that’s what you want.”

There was laughter in his voice.

Beili felt her ears heating up and hurriedly searched for something else to say.

“Then you have to bring back delicious food. The milk needs to be fresh, and so do the fruit and pastries.”

“Could you buy some more black tea too? I want to make my own hot milk tea…”

“And bring me a few more Magic Books. Um… don’t look at me like that. I can figure them out on my own.”

“Remember to pay with gold coins. I gave you plenty of gold coins and Magic Crystals, so don’t go taking things by force…”

After that barrage of words, Beili’s embarrassment finally faded away.

At some point, she had also moved from the table to the recliner while they talked.

“Oh, Ashera, are those kittens for sale by the roadside?”

Sharp-eyed Beili had spotted some small pets in the image.

“Can you bring them back with you?” she asked.

“No.”

Ashera’s answer was immediate.

“Why not?”

Clutching the black orb, Beili said, “We could keep them alive, even in the Far North.”

“I don’t want them taking any of your attention away from me.”

Ashera’s answer was painfully direct.

A little of Beili’s embarrassment came rushing back.

“They’re only small animals,” she muttered.

“If you want to cuddle a small animal, I don’t mind turning into a lamb.”

He said it as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Beili: …

All right. She should probably focus on what else they were missing.
