Chapter 75

The entire Gloomy Maze was once again plunged into a darkness so thick one couldn’t see their hand in front of their face.

Beside the campfire, Beili and Cyril sat quietly for a while, listening to the occasional sounds coming from beyond the walls.

The flickering orange flames danced, reflecting on their faces and tracing their blurred silhouettes.

Beili spread her fingers, her red eyes lowered as she quietly watched the remaining red-and-black ladybugs.

They were circling restlessly on her fingernails.

The thick fog continued to spread and diffuse, leaving less and less room for those in the Maze to move. The remaining people should all be scattered around the outer walls of the Maze Center by now.

As she pondered, the ladybugs on the middle finger and thumb of Beili’s left hand, as well as the one on the index finger of her right hand, suddenly spread their red-and-black spotted wings.

As if sensing the pull of their marks, they instantly flew off Beili’s nails.

These three represented the third-ranked Prince Boris, the fifth-ranked Prince Bruno, and the seventh-ranked Prince Tyrone.

Beili’s fingertips paused slightly. She glanced in the direction where the ladybugs hovered, then lowered her voice and said to Cyril, “Prince Cyril, the three Hunters from the Nauze Kingdom are near that green hedge to your right.”

“Just in time.”

Cyril nodded.

A cold light flickered in the eyes of his icy face as he said chillingly, “Wait here. I’ll go find them.”

“I’m afraid that won’t work.”

Beili watched the ladybug that had just flown off her left index finger, sighing calmly. “This ladybug represents the fourth-ranked Hunter, Quinna. She’s also approaching, right behind you, Your Highness.”

“Quinna?”

Cyril frowned slightly, a hint of doubt crossing his purple eyes.

“Quinna is from Sainthos… and I’ve already shattered her Defensive Magic Pendants.”

He spoke indifferently, feeling that Quinna wasn’t a threat and was likely only heading this way because the spreading fog left her nowhere else to go.

On the other hand, if Beili hadn’t heard Quinna’s inner thoughts, she likely wouldn’t have been wary of her either.

“I’m just as surprised, Prince Cyril.”

Beili curled her lips into a helpless smile and continued, “But the information I’ve gathered is that Miss Quinna currently has every intention of killing me.”

Cyril paused, his purple eyes fixed on her.

He looked down at her and, without much thought, blurted out in a low voice, “Then go hide in the tent.”

“I’m relieved to hear you say that, Prince Cyril.”

Beili shook her head. “But hiding won’t make her give up on the idea of killing me. Instead, it will only expose Lisa and Susanna’s location.”

Cyril’s frown deepened. “Then what is your plan?”

She didn’t understand why she had become Quinna’s target, but she had to find a way to resolve this crisis.

“I’m going to kill her before she finds a way to kill me.”

She looked at him, speaking gently and calmly.

“I hope you won’t oppose this plan, Prince Cyril.”

Cyril fell silent for a moment.

He neither agreed nor disagreed, merely saying in a cold voice, “Where do you get the confidence to think you can best Quinna?”

His words were highly sarcastic. Had it been anyone else, they might have reflected on it and slunk back into the tent.

But Beili had become somewhat immune to Cyril’s poisonous tongue.

“Before entering the Maze, I indeed had no confidence. After all, I haven’t even attended a single proper magic class.”

She spread her hands with a subtle expression. “But after seeing you two princes pull a tent and raw mutton out of your Item Slots… my confidence suddenly surged.”

She had thought all the Hunter Students would come seriously prepared, but it seemed everyone just wanted to treat the Maze like a playground.

Perhaps that was how it was at the start.

Beili’s shoulders stiffened slightly as she decided to end the conversation.
“In short, Your Highness, you don’t need to worry. I’m well-prepared.”

Beili pulled out an Invisibility Cloak and draped it over her shoulders. “If possible, Your Highness, please set up another Defensive Shield Layer outside the tent. It would put my mind at ease.”

With that, Beili gave Cyril a brief, polite smile before reaching up to tug the hood of the Invisibility Cloak down, partially veiling her face.

After a ripple of Mana, the grey-haired, red-eyed girl vanished as if she had never been there at all.

Cyril knit his brows, a trace of displeasure crossing his face.

“Flattering yourself,” he said coldly. “Who would worry about you?”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the sound of a light cough came from behind him.

Then, a helpless, sighing reminder:

“Your Highness, you could actually wait until I’m a bit further away before saying things like that.”

Cyril pressed his lips into a thin line and said nothing more.

He merely chanted an incantation in a low voice, casting another Defensive Shield Layer over the already concealed tent.

Guided by the Tracking Ladybug, Beili used her Mana to sense her surroundings. In the pitch-black darkness where she couldn’t see her own hand in front of her face, she gradually approached a green hedge wall.

The air here felt as if it had frozen solid.

To avoid alerting her target, she put the Tracking Ladybug away ahead of time and stopped in her tracks. Then, she concentrated her Mana to carefully sense the protruding silhouettes along the wall.

Soon, high up on the wall, she sensed a strange, blurry triangular outline.

Beili instinctively felt that this was where Quinna was located.

Just as the thought surfaced, the triangular outline-no wider than three fingers-fluttered slightly.

It was like a moth spreading its wings, waiting for the right moment to take flight.

…It was her. Beili was certain.

Having found her target, she held her breath.

In the darkness, she quietly raised her arm.

Sensing through her Mana, she aimed the sights of her Miniature Crossbow at the triangular silhouette on the wall.

Then, she pressed the trigger.

In the next second, a ball of light flashed and vanished, followed immediately by the thunderous roar of an explosion.

The blast shattered the silent darkness.

Though the explosion’s radius wasn’t large, it was exceptionally clear against the backdrop of deathly silence, causing anyone hiding nearby to jerk their shoulders in shock.

Amidst the blast, someone let out a startled scream and went tumbling to the ground from the force of the explosion.

Hidden beneath her Invisibility Cloak, Beili steadied her racing heart and used the chaos to shift her position.

Aside from the person’s cry of pain, she thought she heard a faint, muffled chuckle coming from the thick, black night sky above her.

Beili looked up and saw a slowly blinking ‘star’ in the impenetrable darkness.

A man with silver hair, golden eyes, and twisted ram horns must be floating there, she guessed.

At that moment, the person beneath the green hedge wall stopped making noise and quickly crawled out from the swirling embers of the explosion.

The woman tore off her tattered outer robe and resentfully wiped away the blood streaming down her forehead.

Then, she rapidly chanted an incantation, summoning a large ball of white light in the blink of an eye.

The orb was like a moon fallen from the sky, instantly dispelling the darkness within a hundred meters.

Beili withdrew her gaze from the sky and narrowed her red eyes slightly.

In the piercing white light, she saw a girl with her deep brown, curly hair tied in a low ponytail.

Her expression was frigid as she looked around frantically.

So, this was Quinna.

Quinna was currently consumed by extreme rage and vigilance. She looked desperate to find the culprit who had ambushed her and left her back a bloody mess.

Exposing herself now would be an unwise choice.

The culprit held her breath once more beneath her Invisibility Cloak.

She still preferred sneak attacks.
