Survival Guide After Accidentally Kissing a Demon - Chapter 87
Chapter 87
Thinking about the fact that she would be leaving Holy Island as soon as dawn broke, Beili tossed and turned in her hospital bed, unable to fall asleep.
She got up once more and stood by the window, pulling back a corner of the curtain to gaze at the night sky.
The stars were brilliant tonight, embedded like jewels in the dark velvet of the night.
Beili watched quietly when she suddenly saw a dim star ignite as if set ablaze. It flared with light and began to flicker.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly.
She held her breath and stared intently for a moment before reaching out to push the window open. She was planning to use Beast Transformation to turn into a butterfly and fly over to investigate.
Suddenly, an icy weight pressed down on her shoulder without warning.
Beili froze for a second, instinctively turning her head to look at her right shoulder.
A broad hand covered it. The veins on the back of the hand were slightly raised in elegant lines, appearing a sickly pale under the moonlight.
Then, a man’s lazy voice rang out by her left ear.
“What are you looking at?”
The deep, heavy voice carried a faint, indiscernible hint of a smile.
Beili turned her head to look at the man.
Long silver hair hung straight down, shimmering with a cold, ghostly luster.
His face was as flawless as a sculpture. Beneath lashes as long as black feathers, a pair of golden vertical pupils ‘glanced’ at her hollowly.
“Nothing. I just couldn’t sleep, so I was looking around,” Beili said, watching him.
Fingers so pale they were almost grey tapped randomly and lightly on her shoulder. His long knuckles were devoid of even the slightest blemish.
“Then… why can’t you sleep?”
The man arched an eyebrow, his tone drawn out and slow.
“Because I slept too long during the day,” Beili replied.
“And here I thought you were thinking of me…”
Cold fingertips stroked her cheek, bringing a bone-chilling coldness.
“Is it that you’re being dishonest, or has something gone wrong with my perception?”
The man spoke slowly.
“I thought you were in that pool filled with severed limbs, refusing to come out.”
Beili curled her lips slightly, mimicking his tone.
His thin, cold lips curled into a silent, pronounced arc. The man smiled but said nothing.
“Speaking of which.”
After a brief pause, Beili’s red eyes flickered slightly as she said, “Thank you… for, you know, saving me in the water.”
“Thank me for what?”
Ashera tilted his head, drawing out the last word as he pondered, appearing genuinely confused.
Then, a grin spread across his face.
“That place was indeed a fine spot. The scenery was unique, and it was full of that ‘goat-toe flavor’ Mana you like so much.”
He spoke with utter indifference, tilting his chin up slightly.
“I was just about to go up and invite you after I discovered it, only to find you’d already jumped in, unable to wait. My dear Little Butterfly, back then, all I could perceive from you was pain and fear…”
Ashera let out a soft chuckle. The sound was exceptionally clear in the silent infirmary.
“It seems that place doesn’t suit you.”
He shook his head gently, as if he had only just realized it.
“…”
Beili looked at Ashera expressionlessly.
She hoped he was just using dark humor and wasn’t being serious.
Beili sighed helplessly in her heart.
Then.
The fingers resting on her shoulder shifted.
Between those pale, slender fingers, something had appeared at some point.
Beili frowned slightly and looked closer. Only then did she realize that what Ashera was holding between his fingers was a waterlogged, white finger.
“This…”
Beili’s skin crawled, and her forehead was instantly covered in sweat.
Her body reacted honestly, taking a step back until her spine pressed against his icy chest.
“You’ve finally noticed…”
The upward curve of Ashera’s lips hadn’t faltered for a second.
“This is my latest acquisition.”
He spoke lazily, then flipped his palm over.
The finger hovered in his hand.
It rapidly shriveled from its original pale, bloated state, turning dry and dark until it finally crumbled into a pile of ash that scattered into the air.
All that remained was a thin black line.
It looked as if someone had used a black pen to draw an irregular circle in mid-air.
The curve of his lips deepened as Ashera raised his left hand.
Beili watched blankly as the black ring drifted slowly toward his ring finger and then contracted.
In the blink of an eye, a black line appeared around his ring finger.
It looked like it had been drawn on temporarily, with a slight curve that was strikingly similar to the indelible black line around her own right wrist.
“This…”
Could this be the magical tool Quinna had been carrying?
Beili had a faint premonition.
If that were the case, then that finger just now… had it been Quinna’s?
As she pondered, Beili’s expression became subtle.
She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could get a word out, the cold body her back was pressed against suddenly floated backward.
Ashera retreated to the corner of the room.
“Let’s see if this is how it’s used.”
As he spoke, he lightly snapped the fingers of his left hand.
Beili felt that his smile held a hint of mischief. The next second, a powerful force suddenly seized her hand and violently threw her toward the corner.
This force was far more powerful than when Quinna had used it; it didn’t leave her even a shred of room to resist.
Her vision blurred, and with a muffled groan, Beili fell into Ashera’s cold embrace.
“So that’s how it works. That moth really did bring me something good.”
Ashera took the opportunity to wrap his arm around her waist. His chest vibrated as he let out a low, heavy chuckle.
“We’re going somewhere now. Remember to turn into a butterfly, or you’ll hit the window.”
A large, cold hand ruffled her hair.
Leaving her with that warning, Ashera let go. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a thick cloud of black mist and drifted out of the infirmary’s open window.
Less than two seconds after the mist drifted away, Beili’s body felt as if it were tied to a chain that had suddenly snapped taut. She was pulled uncontrollably toward the window at high speed.
She gasped and quickly performed her Beast Transformation, turning into a butterfly before flying out the window.

Above Holy Island Academy.
A mass of black mist, thick as ink, dragged a grumbling blue-green Morpho Butterfly through the silent moonlight, swiftly crossing the rooftops of several Greek-style buildings.
Beili had only managed to curse three or four times before Ashera brought her to a towering, ancient circular tower.
This was the Holy Island Academy library.
Just as Beili recognized the building, the library doors creaked open.
Ashera dragged her inside and up the spiral staircase, quickly reaching the second-floor corridor.
It was pitch black.
Before Beili could figure out what was happening, she was forced out of her Butterfly Form and back into her human shape.
Then, a pair of cold hands pinned her against a bookshelf.
The heavy scent of blood and a frigid aura overwhelmed her in the darkness, enveloping her completely.
Ashera gripped her chin, tilting her head up.
Then, a kiss devoid of any warmth descended upon her.
He ground against her warm lips, prying open her trembling teeth, invading with a chilling sweep.
In the darkness.
The kiss was domineering at first, then gradually became gentle and lingering, as if he intended to swallow her soul along with it.
She didn’t know when she had closed her eyes.
Beili’s lashes fluttered, and her hands instinctively gripped Ashera’s arms, where his veins slightly protruded.
