Chapter 90

Beili calmed her emotions and said, “Since he’s expressed his dissatisfaction, let him state his conditions.”

The youth tilted his head, remaining silent for a moment before speaking slowly:

“He says… he can a-agree to your re-request… but the terms of the contract’s… exchange must ch-change.”

“Change how?” Beili asked.

“Neither side can h-have thoughts or take ac-action to kill the o-other… If one side d-does such a thing…”

“What will happen?”

The youth’s unfocused golden eyes trembled slightly.

“I-if one side… does such a thing… then that person w-will go to Hell,” he said in a faint voice.

Beili’s red eyes paused, a flicker of hesitation crossing them.

Go to Hell?

Isn’t Hell just a Demon’s happy home?

However, the Demon himself didn’t seem to know that.

Going to Hell held absolutely no deterrent power for Beili, who had been raised in Eastern culture; she didn’t believe in it at all.

Besides, the Demon that the original book’s male and female leads had put so much effort into killing-was he someone she could kill just because she wanted to?

Beili was very clear about her own strength.

Furthermore, she didn’t want to kill him.

She only hoped that before she figured out that line of mysterious characters, she wouldn’t be killed by the temperamental Ashera. That would be enough.

…

Seeing her silence, the youth lowered his head slightly and said in a weak voice, “He… he says this is the… o-only concession… If you’re un-unwilling… then, then… no deal.”

His face was full of apology.

But his heart certainly wasn’t.

“In other words, if either side harbors murderous intent, both will die together.”

Blinking her jewel-like crimson eyes, Beili curled her lips and repeated clearly:

“I have to say, it is indeed a fair trade.”

“So, can we sign the contract now?” she asked.

“Of course…”

The corners of the youth’s mouth turned up unconsciously. He took her hand and placed it precisely onto the parchment.

After a slight sting.

The fingers of both people pressed against the parchment stained it a vivid red.

The parchment seemed to suddenly grow sharp teeth; the stinging sensation persisted and grew increasingly intense.

“Wait…”

Beili spoke through the pain and tried to lift her hand, but the youth’s pale, thin hand covered hers, pressing firmly against the back of it.

“This is… a Life-and-Death Contract. It c-cannot be interrupted,” he said.

A faint smile appeared on his face as the youth’s cold fingers pressed into the gaps between hers.

With their fingers intertwined, the blood seeping from their hands was like a blooming rose, slowly staining the entire parchment red.

“It is done… the contract is f-formed.”

The youth spoke softly.

The blood-stained paper rolled up automatically, and the youth handed it to her.

Taking the contract, Beili stored it in her Spatial Necklace. Then, frowning slightly, she muttered in confusion, “Why was the method different from the last time I signed a contract…”

“Last time?”

Hearing her words, the youth tilted his head and asked, “Who e-else did you… sign a contract with?”

Beili twitched her lips and said, “A Big Ice Cube.”

The youth frowned slightly, his hollow golden eyes pausing for a moment as if in thought. Then he said softly:

“It’s… it’s… Cyril Elvis.”

Beili noticed he spoke in a declarative tone.

It wasn’t a question.

“Yes…”

She had no choice but to nod truthfully. “A mutually beneficial contract. His part is already complete; only mine remains.”

The youth lowered his golden eyes and was quiet for a moment before suddenly saying with an ambiguous meaning:

“He is… a v-very contradictory p-person.”

“Why do you say that?” Beili asked, somewhat confused.

“Because… I always h-hear him saying… in his heart that Ba-Bartholomew… should… should disappear from this world.”

Having finished the difficult sentence.

The youth turned his head and asked softly:

“Bartholomew… friend, is th-this your n-name?”

As if struck by lightning, Beili stood frozen in place.

“…Yes.”

After a moment of shock, she said, “But he helped me in the Maze.”

“That’s why… I said he’s a c-contradictory p-person,”
the youth said.

Beili glanced at the youth and asked tentatively, “What else do you know?”

“That…”

The youth’s lips curled up slightly, as if he had been waiting for this question for a long time. He gave a low laugh and said eagerly:

“The m-man-eating tree… it seems it was p-prepared for… cough… for you… friend.”

Beili’s face instantly darkened.

The air fell into silence for a moment.

The youth slowly withdrew his bright smile and asked uneasily:

“Did I… s-say something wrong?”

“No.”

Her tone was calm, and her gaze was equally calm.

Looking around, she said, “Let’s find a place to sit down and prepare to open the Dream Domain.”
