The Art of Being a Kept Man - Chapter 2
Shen Shuyu married Wen Tingnian.
I only learned later that Wen Tingnian had liked Shen Shuyu for years. When the Shen family found out, they practically wanted to tie Shen Shuyu up and deliver him straight to Wen Tingnian’s bed.
Wen Tingnian had suffered from a defective gland since childhood and would never be able to mark an Omega. Even so, he selfishly forced Shen Shuyu to marry him.
Shen Shuyu used that as grounds to refuse to share his bed, and Wen Tingnian agreed out of guilt.
I got hired as a driver for the Wen family, mainly responsible for chauffeuring Shen Shuyu.
Not long after the wedding, Shen Shuyu moved out of the family residence. Wen Tingnian was always busy, which conveniently gave Shen Shuyu and me our chance.
One day, the car sat parked by the road.
Shen Shuyu was drenched in sweat.
At the critical moment, I suddenly remembered what I had forgotten and shouted, “Oh, crap!”
Shen Shuyu lifted his head and glared at me, exerting a little more force in silent displeasure.
I hissed and hurried to explain. “I forgot to buy them.”
When Shen Shuyu felt me pulling away, he weakly slapped my face. “Are you even an Alpha? You’re stopping now?”
I looked at him aggrievedly. “What if you get pregnant?”
He rolled his eyes and answered with his actions.
…
A month later, Shen Shuyu was pregnant.
I clutched the test results in a panic. “Baby—what if Wen Tingnian finds out? He’s never even touched you.”
Shen Shuyu sat calmly on my lap, turning a page of his book.
…
That night, Shen Shuyu got Wen Tingnian drunk and had me strip him naked and dump him on the bed. The next morning, he waited until Wen Tingnian was almost awake before leaving my room and lying down beside him.
Wen Tingnian woke up beside himself with joy, convinced Shen Shuyu had finally accepted him.
Then Shen Shuyu slapped him hard and fled looking utterly heartbroken.
From the rearview mirror, I saw Wen Tingnian’s swollen cheek and gloated.
Shen Shuyu sat expressionless in the back seat, without a trace of his earlier heartbreak.
Halfway there, Wen Tingnian called me.
“Hello, President Wen?”
“Madam instructed me to drive to Xizi Bay.”
Shen Shuyu owned a house there.
From the back seat, Shen Shuyu loudly ordered me to hang up.
Clearly, that was meant for Wen Tingnian to hear.
I pretended to be terrified, torn, and completely at a loss.
Afraid Shen Shuyu might snatch the phone and end the call, Wen Tingnian hastily ordered me to make absolutely sure Shen Shuyu stayed safe.
Only after I reassured him again and again did he finally hang up.
And so Shen Shuyu stayed at Xizi Bay with a perfectly clear conscience for two months. Once the timing was right, he let word of the pregnancy reach Wen Tingnian.
Wen Tingnian rushed over to beg Shen Shuyu’s forgiveness, swearing he would treat both him and the child well for the rest of his life.
When Wen Tingnian’s assistant produced the property-transfer documents, I could barely keep the grin off my face. I hadn’t expected us to achieve half our objective so quickly.
Shen Shuyu secretly shot me a glare, then said to Wen Tingnian without expression, “Do you think this little bit of money is enough to buy my forgiveness?”
Wen Tingnian reached for his hand, but Shen Shuyu pulled away.
“Shuyu! I know I’ve been selfish, but my feelings for you are sincere.”
“I only want you to feel secure. From now on, everything I own belongs to you and the child.”
“All I ask is that you give me a chance to take responsibility for both of you.”
“Please?”
Wen Tingnian looked so earnest that even I was almost moved.
Shen Shuyu lowered his head and stroked his belly, looking miserable.
Then, as if coming to a difficult decision, he said, “I grew up without a father’s love. I don’t want my own child to be like me…”
Wen Tingnian was ecstatic and moved to pull Shen Shuyu into his arms.
But Shen Shuyu pushed him away. With a frosty expression, he said, “That doesn’t mean I accept you. You are not allowed to touch me without my permission.”
Of course Wen Tingnian agreed. He looked ready to drop to his knees before Shen Shuyu right then and there.
