The Cold Palace Maid's Path to Empress - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Whether important people lived or died had nothing to do with me.
At least, that was what I thought.
But the next day, the two peeling doors of the Cold Palace were suddenly shoved open.
Two people were thrown inside.
One was a boy, unconscious. He looked about my age-twelve.
The other was a girl dressed as a maid. Judging by her size, she might even have been younger than me, yet her eyes held a maturity that did not match her age.
The doors of the Cold Palace slammed shut again and were locked from the outside.
At a loss, she stared at the unconscious boy and muttered words I could not understand at all:
“System, how did I get reborn here? I never studied history!”
“Help the Seventh Prince? This little brat?”
“But if I help him, he’ll put me through some deep, torturous romance in the future! Body and heart both abused, and in the end I’ll even lose both my legs for him.”
“That little girl is the Big Boss you were talking about? The Demon Empress Shen Qingchen? You want me to take her down, but she’s still a child!”
I frowned.
True enough, my name was Shen Qingchen.
My mother had given me that name. It was a very beautiful one.
But after she left, no one in the family called me by that name anymore. They called me “Second Girl.”
Earthy and crude. But they said it suited me.
How did she know my name?
I had never seen her before.
From her chaotic rambling, I picked out a few pieces of information.
I glanced at the unconscious Seventh Prince on the ground, then listened to her incoherent muttering for a while longer. Suddenly, I grabbed a brick from under the tree.
I raised it high and brought it down on the Seventh Prince.
After a few blows, he stopped breathing.
The little maid finally fell silent.
A moment later, when I saw her open her mouth, I immediately covered my ears.
“The Big Boss killed off the male lead! Aaaaaah!”
Her scream startled the swallows nesting beneath the eaves into flight.
So what if he was dead? At worst, my nine familial clans would be executed.
I could drag those relatives of mine down with me.
Worth it.
I lifted my head and said to her, very calmly, “You’re not from our world, are you?”
“If you want to go back to your world, you have to complete some kind of strategy mission?”
I imitated the words she had used, though I did not understand them.
“Now, I’m the Seventh Prince. You can complete your strategy on me.”
She looked into my eyes and suddenly calmed down.
My opinion of this chosen ally improved a little.
She could control her emotions.
I smiled at her. “Looks like we’re two grasshoppers on the same vine now.”
“Want to work together?”
It sounded like an invitation, but in truth, she had no choice.
She folded her arms across her chest, lowered her eyes to the unrecognizable Seventh Prince, and asked me, “How do we work together?”
“I become emperor, and you go home. How does that sound?”
