Chapter 3

And just like that, I became the Crown Prince’s personal masseuse.

My quarters were arranged in a side room not far from the Crown Prince’s chambers, supposedly so it would be convenient for me to go give him massages.

What I hadn’t expected was to get clients on my very first day on the job.

Er… Though they seemed more like they were here to pick a fight.

I looked at the two stunning beauties standing aggressively in the doorway and continued pretending to be blind without batting an eye.

The two of them had their heads together, conspiring in voices that were not remotely quiet.

“Is this the person His Highness brought back yesterday?”

“Rumor has it she has some unique skill. Massage that cures every illness.”

“Hah. She is somewhat pretty, I’ll give her that.”

“Blind?”

“Could she be pretending?”

“Go test her?”

“You go.”

“Why should I go? You go!”

…

Seeing that the two of them were about to start arguing, I silently spoke up. “Ladies, I’m blind, not deaf.”

The area around me instantly fell silent.

Judging by their clothes, I could more or less guess that they were the only two mistresses of the Eastern Palace: Consort Wei and Consort Xu.

After I said that, the two of them looked a bit embarrassed, but they quickly recovered.

Consort Wei cleared her throat and asked, “Your massages can cure illnesses?”

Although “curing every illness” was a lie I had used to swindle people, aside from massage, I did know a bit of acupuncture. Ordinary headaches and back pain were still within my abilities.

I said nothing, maintained a smile, and fully embodied the air of a hidden master.

Sure enough, their trust in me instantly multiplied.

The two of them hurried over affectionately and flanked me, one on each side.

“There is an illness. Can you treat it?”

I asked, “Is Your Ladyship unwell?”

Consort Wei lowered her voice. “Not me. His Highness.”

Consort Xu said mysteriously, “His Highness… cannot get it up.”

…

This was a rather serious matter, and the two Liangdi were not just making things up.

Apparently, ever since they entered the Eastern Palace, Yuchi Lan had never touched either of them, so they had reason to harbor this suspicion.

It was just that the imperial physicians in the palace were tied up in too many complications, so they could only treat a dead horse like it was still alive and come to me.

Although I had never treated that sort of condition before, they were offering way too much money!

Was I the kind of person who was greedy for wealth? Absolutely!

To me, money or no money didn’t matter. But the moment I thought of how Qiao Qiao had been thriving in the palace these past few years and raking in a fortune, rage surged through me.

I had to be richer than her. Nobody was going to steal the job of keeping my bestie from me!

I truly hadn’t expected it. Yuchi Lan looked so young and vigorous.

And yet…

Sigh. What a waste of a perfectly good specimen.

For the sake of my sugar-mama patrons’ happiness, I had to cure him!

I heard that the Crown Prince had been diligent with government affairs lately, and his old waist injury had been flaring up often.

Sure enough, that night, after he returned to his bedchamber, he summoned me. Under the eager gazes of the two Liangdi, I set off with a heavy responsibility on my shoulders.

When I entered, Yuchi Lan was lying facedown on the bed, his brows tightly furrowed as if he were enduring pain.

A young eunuch led me to the bedside, then withdrew. The enormous room was left with only the two of us.

Yuchi Lan said, “After you massaged me last time, the injured area felt much better. This time, you may use a little more strength.”

I acknowledged him.

I started massaging Yuchi Lan’s back while pondering how to treat this hidden ailment.

I vaguely remembered reading a bit of pathology in some miscellaneous book before. There were a few acupoints that seemed effective for this kind of thing.

No sooner said than done. I decisively took out my silver needles.

Yuchi Lan frowned and glanced at me. “What are you doing?”

“Acupuncture and massage are a better combo.”

“You can see the acupoints?”

…

I braced myself and explained, “I have a wealth of experience.”

Yuchi Lan said nothing for a long while.

I started laughing wildly. “Ahahahahaha, you actually don’t believe me! I knew it! I knew it!”

Yuchi Lan: “…”

He paused. “Don’t get angry yet. Go ahead and needle me.”

I wiped the cold sweat from my forehead and let out a long breath.

Unfortunately, I had still overestimated my own luck. I stuck Yuchi Lan full of needles like a hedgehog, yet there was no reaction from him at all.

Could it be that he was completely beyond saving?

I decided to look for another method another day.

But never in a million years did I expect that while I was sleeping soundly that night, the Eastern Palace would suddenly fall into an uproar.

I saw figures hurrying back and forth outside the window and felt something was wrong. I opened the door and grabbed a passing young eunuch.

“What happened?”

The young eunuch was frantic. When he saw it was me, he hurriedly said, “Miss Yin, perfect timing! I was just about to look for you. When you helped His Highness massage him this afternoon, did anything go wrong?”

I froze. “Why are you asking that?”

The young eunuch covered his mouth and whispered, “His Highness… became unable to get it up overnight!”

…

I stood rooted to the spot.

That sentence contained a staggering amount of information.

First, Yuchi Lan originally could. Second, now he couldn’t.

And this had happened suddenly. Mm. I thought back on it, and there was a ninety-nine percent chance it had something to do with the needles I used.

Summary: I had needled Yuchi Lan into impotence.

Excellent. This time, I was truly done for.

The young eunuch had just said he was looking for me, which meant someone would probably come question me soon.

If I didn’t run now, when would I?

Qiao Qiao, you should come find me instead. I’m afraid I won’t live long enough to wait for you!

I pretended to be calm and first sent the young eunuch away, then quickly packed up my money and prepared to flee.
