The Doomed Master's Survival Guide - Chapter 2
Ying Buzhi was my senior sister in the sect.
She also had a system for winning someone over, and was one of the few sweet, naive pursuers who were easy to talk to—and easy to fool.
Under her burning gaze, the young man lowered his eyes and poured two cups of tea.
The tea was freshly brewed and rather hot. It turned his fingertips pink.
I saw the woman’s gaze grow even more intense.
Pervert.
I condemned her inwardly, full of righteous indignation.
Having finished pouring the tea, he gave a slight bow and turned to leave.
“Oh…”
The woman opened her mouth, but I cut her off before she could say anything.
“Well, Senior Sister! What brings you here today?” I asked warmly, patting her hand.
Ying Buzhi thought for a moment. “Master wants you to come back for a visit.”
After a long silence, she added cautiously under my gaze, “And bring Qianyuan.”
A trap disguised as an invitation.
That rotten old man.
I cursed inwardly. It suddenly seemed a miracle that Qianyuan had survived this long.
“Have some tea, Senior Sister.”
“Oh.”
She obediently took a sip, then her eyes went round and she took another. “It’s delicious!”
“I think so too. And now that you’ve had my tea, how about leaving my disciple alone?” I gave her a meaningful look. “While your system can still change its target.”
“Ah.”
Ying Buzhi took a good while to process that.
Then her shriek almost blew the roof off.
“WHAT?!”
Having talked Ying Buzhi into leaving with my silver tongue, I strolled about fanning myself, in an excellent mood.
One tenth of the mission was done. Cause for celebration.
“Master.” Qianyuan hurried over and bowed before me. “You called?”
I nodded, took a cultivation manual from my storage ring, and handed it to him. “Stop practicing your previous method. Use this one for now.”
The previous technique was a sinister art tailored specifically to Qianyuan. It suppressed his bloodline and spiritual energy, making it harder for his severed meridians to recover. After rummaging through my storage ring for ages, I had finally found a method that would neither speed up their recovery nor harm his body.
His expression remained unchanged. He simply accepted the manual obediently with both hands and thanked me.
Like a block of wood with no feelings.
Was this what it took to become that future untouchable beauty?
“I’m visiting my sect in half a month. Would you like to come?”
I asked him.
The original owner’s master was no good in the story, but he had treated her fairly well. Since he wanted to see me, I ought to go at least once.
“I will do as you command, Master.”
Rather than answer directly, he bent at the waist and spoke with utmost deference.
I heaved a sigh and stopped pushing. “I know you don’t like venturing out into the world. Stay on the mountain, then. Use Qingxin Pool whenever you want. I remember you’re fond of it.”
Apparently startled by my sudden consideration, he straightened abruptly and stared at me, eyes widening a little.
“Don’t want to?” I asked.
“No. I do.”
He hurriedly shook his head.
“You’ll be here for half a month. Are you sure?” I pressed.
“Of course.”
“Go practice, then. I’m heading down the mountain.” I waved him off, then walked toward the foot of the mountain with my hands behind my back, shaking my head and muttering, “I just don’t get it. Can anyone really sit in a pool for half a month without talking to another soul? I’d go stir-crazy.”
Halfway down, I figured it out.
That was why I was cannon fodder, and he was the protagonist.
Heaven was preparing him for great things.
