The Evil Deity's Second Career - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Ji Lanci and I made our presence known, our words nearly scaring Wang Can to death.
“Who are you?”
Wang Can couldn’t see me. The only one he could see was Ji Lanci, her face hidden beneath a veiled hat.
“I’m here to collect your life.”
Wang Can spat and bared his teeth in a grin. “Do you really have that kind of skill? Just a little girl, yet you talk so big.”
It was grating to hear. I kicked him behind the knee. His legs gave out and he dropped stiffly to his knees.
“Oh? So the only hard part of you left, Lord Wang, is that mouth of yours.”
“Sorceress! What did you do?!”
Ji Lanci didn’t answer. Instead, she asked, “What happened to the Ji Family-was that your doing?”
Wang Can’s eyes flicked suspiciously toward the direction of my voice. Then he suddenly burst out laughing. “So that’s it. You’re here for revenge.”
He rose from the floor, strode up to Ji Lanci, and reached out to pinch her chin.
“I thought the Ji Family was wiped out. Didn’t expect one to slip through.”
“What? You want revenge for your dead relatives?”
Wang Can didn’t bother to hide the filthy desire in his eyes. “I’ve already killed so many from the Ji Family. One more won’t matter. But…”
His gaze drifted to Ji Lanci’s long, pale neck, and he licked his lips.
Ji Lanci met his stare without fear. Her lips parted, cold and calm. “Do it.”
I immediately roused the Gu Worm inside Wang Can.
Wang Can had no idea what was happening. He thought Ji Lanci had been frightened into silence-until a sudden, searing pain tore through his belly.
He yanked his clothes aside and watched as his abdomen swelled little by little. Dark purple-black veins webbed across the skin, grotesque to behold.
“What… what is this?!”
Wang Can panicked, releasing Ji Lanci at once. With shaking hands, he pressed down on his rapidly enlarging stomach.
“Sorceress! Sorceress! Was this you?!”
Ji Lanci stared at his bulging belly and smiled.
“Lord Wang, that stomach of yours looks like it’s about to give birth.”
Wang Can’s face went paper-white, cold sweat pouring off him. He could barely stay on his feet.
“A knife-where’s a knife?!”
He struggled, trying to find one.
“No need to trouble yourself. I’ll help you. While we’re at it, let’s see whether the child in Lord Wang’s belly is a boy or a girl.”
At Ji Lanci’s words, I conjured a longsword. A vicious flash of sword qi-Wang Can’s belly split open in a long, ragged gash. Inside, a thick-bodied insect was slowly chewing through his organs.
“My sister-in-law’s unborn child-did you get a good look? Boy or girl?”
Wang Can’s mind was swimming with pain; he could barely breathe, yet his mouth was still stubborn.
“It was just a useless daughter! So what if she’d been born?!”
Ji Lanci was about to explode when the door suddenly swung open. A child of four or five walked in and called out crisply, “Dad!”
“Lord Wang really is blessed-he has a son. No wonder he looks down on daughters.”
When Wang Can saw his son, he finally panicked. “Sorceress! You wouldn’t dare touch my son!”
