The First Summoner - Chapter 112

At his words, everyone’s pupils contracted, and they stared dumbfounded.

Was… was this real?!

Had Shen Yan truly summoned a horde of beasts?

They would never have believed it from anyone else. But the speaker was Ximen Yiming, Western Region Academy’s foremost Summoner elder. They had no choice but to accept it.

Everyone immediately looked toward the image of Shen Yan. She swung onto the back of a spirit horse and led the beast horde forward. The sight could only be described as vast and awe-inspiring!

Hundreds of otherworldly beasts of every size thundered after her.

The purple-robed girl on horseback looked cold and detached, but her eyes were exceptionally sharp and resolute. The fierce wind whipped through her black hair.

She held the Spirit Phoenix Divine Sword in her right hand like a general charging the enemy ranks.

And the horde behind her was her most loyal army!

“Roar—”

The beasts’ cries were deafening!

Their oppressive momentum resembled an army surging forward to catch the enemy unprepared!

The contestants ahead clearly heard the roars and felt the ground trembling beneath them.

Their faces changed. Had a beast tide broken out?

They instinctively wanted to flee, yet several could not suppress their curiosity and headed toward the sounds instead.

The moment they saw the source, their eyes widened.

“Th-this…”

“Run!”

One person’s legs gave out from fright, and he collapsed to the ground.

Shen Yan rode straight toward him and swung her sword at the token on his waist. It shattered instantly.

He was immediately transported outside.

She continued chasing the others. Once she had drawn close, she leaped from the saddle, raced forward, and cut them off. While they were still panicking, she thrust her sword at their tokens.

One token after another shattered.

Shen Yan withdrew her sword, pushed lightly off the ground, and vaulted back onto the horse. She squeezed its flanks with her legs.

“Hyah!”

Her gaze sharpened. “Intercept the humans!”

At her command, the beast horde split up and raced in different directions. More than a dozen avian beasts flew overhead. Though unable to speak, they could still cry out.

Whenever they flew over a place where humans were present, they circled above it and called.

Hearing them, the other beasts immediately surged toward that location.

The information they conveyed reached Shen Yan through her sea of consciousness, allowing her to race in the appropriate direction.

She sent the horde a voice transmission. “If you encounter someone with high cultivation, flee immediately. You need not intercept or attack them.”

Their voices sounded within her sea of consciousness.

“Don’t worry. We aren’t fools.”

Shen Yan was speechless.

Through the horde’s coordination, they soon intercepted dozens of youths.

Shen Yan eliminated them as quickly as possible.

Her rank and elimination count began soaring.

Before long, Shen Yan rose to first place with eighty eliminations.

The contestants inside the secret realm noticed her sudden ascent. Their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

How could Shen Yan eliminate so many people in such a short time?

Had she cheated?

No, impossible.

This was Western Region Academy’s trial realm. How would she dare cheat?

Then how had she done it?!

With Shen Yan’s cultivation and strength, eliminating so many people so quickly should have been impossible.

By the time they had a chance to learn the answer, Shen Yan had already eliminated them too.

Outside the secret realm, those who had lost glared resentfully at her figure on the crystal screen, wanting to cry but shedding no tears.

One youth ground his teeth. “So what if Shen Yan can summon that many otherworldly beasts? Even if that’s impressive, she didn’t have to eliminate me!”

“Exactly! If not for Shen Yan, I would’ve made the top hundred! She’s awful!”

“Why couldn’t she just be a sword cultivator? Why did she have to be a Summoner too—and summon so many beasts? Boo-hoo… I almost died of fright when twenty huge, ferocious beasts surrounded me!”

The eliminated youths hung their heads, their complaints endless.

They lamented their terrible luck in encountering Shen Yan, the “Beast King”!

The spectators were speechless.

Shen Yan truly was too powerful.

Her cultivation itself was not especially strong. Her talent for summoning was.

The beasts she summoned varied in strength, but sheer numbers overwhelmed the contestants fighting alone. Their defeat was hardly unjust.

Shen Yan remained in first place, her elimination count now reaching ninety-two.

Pei Wusu ranked second with seventy-nine, and Wen Yuchu ranked third with sixty-five.

From fourth to tenth came Yu Changying, Jiang Xianyue, Zhuge Youlin, Xiao Zechuan, Qi Lingxuan, Chi Yue, and Qiu Yaqian.

Everyone in the top ten except Shen Yan possessed Heaven-rank aptitude!

At that moment—

Shen Yan had already exhausted more than half her spiritual power. Just as she recalled the beast horde and prepared to rest, she encountered an instructor.

He had clearly seen her eliminating contestants across a wide area and hurried over. But as he moved to restrain her, Shen Yan put away her sword, found a relatively clean patch of ground, and sat down.

“Instructor, care to rest for a while?” Shen Yan asked seriously.

The instructor stared at her in silence.

“You… need to escape my control,” he said with a cough and a frown.

Shen Yan looked up. “I’m too tired right now, and my wound hurts. I probably can’t escape.”

The instructor was at a loss for words.

He did not even know how to respond. Studying her clear eyes, he muttered inwardly, Could Shen Yan already know why the instructors entered this place?

“Do you know something?” he asked.

Shen Yan looked puzzled. “About what?”

Her reaction left him doubtful, but he still had a duty to fulfill. Even if she refused to run, he had to attack and test her true strength.

Without another word, he struck at her.

Shen Yan instantly went on guard and rolled aside, evading the attack.

“Sharp reflexes,” the instructor remarked with a smile.

Shen Yan had genuinely wanted to rest. She had already spent a great deal of spiritual power, and the wound in her abdomen throbbed faintly.

She was in no condition to exchange even a few moves with the instructor.

After a moment’s hesitation, she called for a pause. “Instructor, wait. Please let me take a pill first.”

“Very well.” He raised an eyebrow and nodded.

Shen Yan swallowed a second-grade pill. Just then, the corner of her eye caught a figure. Her gaze sharpened, and she immediately summoned the Spirit Phoenix Divine Sword and raced toward it.

“Trying to escape?” The instructor was startled but extremely pleased by her behavior. He had wanted to see these youths try to escape from him.

The person Shen Yan had spotted was Xiao Zechuan. He looked over at the disturbance and saw Shen Yan with an instructor behind her. His expression darkened, and he instantly turned to withdraw.
