Chi Yue narrowed his eyes and rapidly retreated. In the few steps of distance that opened between them, more than a dozen spirit-plant creatures suddenly appeared and attacked Pei Wusu.

Pei Wusu swung his sword.

Several spirit-plant creatures screamed as the blade split them in two.

The rest evaded his attack and quickly wrapped themselves around his body. Before Pei Wusu could react, they grew like seeds sprouting at a hundredfold speed, entangling him completely.

He tried to break free, only to find them drawn unbearably tight.

Chi Yue had no intention of letting him go. A stalk of grass appeared in his hand, its green leaves edged in silver. It looked ordinary, but was actually the Heaven-rank Thunderflame Grass, capable of unleashing tremendous power.

Chi Yue formed a simple hand seal.

A dark cloud instantly appeared over Pei Wusu’s head.

Lightning flashed and thunder roared.

Pei Wusu’s expression changed. He unleashed a powerful aura, broke through the spirit-plant creatures’ restraints, and slashed upward!

Boom—

A bolt of silver lightning struck him. His entire body shuddered, numbness spreading through it and refusing to fade.

Pei Wusu was startled. Spirit-plant masters were generally regarded as support cultivators, yet one could produce such a powerful attack!

Chi Yue was an extraordinarily troublesome opponent!

Meanwhile, the moment the mist dispersed, Xiao Zechuan set his sights on Shen Yan and slashed at her!

The saber wind injured her.

“Shen Yan, let us decide the victor,” Xiao Zechuan said, his fox eyes dark and dangerous.

Qiu Yaqian hurried over. “No. Her opponent is me!”

Seeing that two people might surround Shen Yan, Jiang Xianyue flashed to her side.

She turned toward Shen Yan and said firmly, “Yanyan, I’ll help you.”

“Hey!” Zhuge Youlin called.

He flashed over as well and stood beside Shen Yan and Jiang Xianyue. Smiling at Shen Yan, he said, “Shen… Yanyan, how could you leave this young master out of a fight?”

With no one attacking him, Wen Yuchu had already begun playing in a corner.

The moment the guqin sounded, Dean Xuanyun’s expression changed outside the secret realm.

The piece was called *Evil*.

It could draw out the darkest emotions in a person’s heart to the greatest possible extent. If the target ultimately lost all reason and control, they would become the musician’s “weapon.”

Many experts recognized it, and complicated expressions crossed their faces.

“The piece may not be forbidden, but it is one of the most difficult to master. I never expected Wen Yuchu to learn it, much less use it here.”

“I think Wen Yuchu may take first place in the end!”

“It’s possible!”

Inside the secret realm, the moment Wen Yuchu began playing *Evil*, the others gave no outward sign but grew wary of him.

As the music continued, Pei Wusu gradually remembered the night the Tianfang Sect was slaughtered. His heart felt carved by knives—his family, his elders, his fellow disciples…

He closed his eyes briefly. When they opened again, undisguised crimson killing intent filled them.

He had suppressed himself for far too long. This time, he would use Wen Yuchu’s music to release it.

Pei Wusu slashed and rapidly closed in on Chi Yue. No matter how many defenses Chi Yue raised, his sword split through them. His sword intent was razor-sharp, like a slumbering lion king suddenly opening bloodthirsty eyes.

Clang—

Chi Yue fell into a disadvantage.

His eyes turned icy. He disliked anyone influencing his emotions, and his attention shifted to Wen Yuchu. He wanted Wen Yuchu dead.

Chi Yue charged straight at him.

Pei Wusu pursued.

Seeing them approach, Wen Yuchu plucked the strings faster and faster, trying to affect their reason at the last moment.

Elsewhere, Shen Yan and the others also began to change.

The music drew memories from each of them. Perhaps the emotions and natures hidden deep inside were gradually being exposed note by note.

Shen Yan remembered her childhood, and her eyes deepened.

Ninefold’s anxious voice sounded again. “Master! Aaaagh, Feng Xingyao is acting like a madman! He keeps smashing me! I’m about to break! Master, when can you come in?”

Shen Yan calmly reassured them through a voice transmission. “It’s all right. Wait a little longer. I’ll enter as soon as possible.”

Her reassurance steadied Ninefold somewhat.

Jiang Xianyue’s gaze gradually changed. Her grip on the trident tightened sharply, as if she could barely restrain herself.

Shen Yan reached out and squeezed her hand.

The warmth startled Jiang Xianyue, diminishing the impulse within her. She smiled. “Thank you, Yanyan.”

Just then, Xiao Zechuan attacked.

Shen Yan instantly went on guard, turned her longsword, and stabbed toward him.

Jiang Xianyue raised her trident and attacked Xiao Zechuan as well.

Their fierce assault forced him onto the defensive.

Qiu Yaqian immediately joined the battle with her long saber.

Zhuge Youlin hesitated and muttered, “Three against two? Wouldn’t that be immoral?”

“Oh. I don’t seem to have any morals.”

After answering his own question, he looked up with a grin and raised both hands. His fingers plucked translucent spirit threads, supporting Shen Yan and Jiang Xianyue. Xiao Zechuan and Qiu Yaqian were wounded in an instant.

Beyond everyone’s field of vision, Zhuge Youlin had already made another move.

Crack!

Qi Lingxuan’s expression changed. She looked down and saw that a spirit thread had sliced through the token on her belt.

Her mouth fell open in alarm. Realizing what had happened, she looked toward Zhuge Youlin.

Before she could say a word, she was transported outside.

Zhuge Youlin had also ambushed Yu Changying, Wen Yuchu, and several others, but they were more vigilant and dodged immediately.

Yu Changying touched her undamaged token, then smiled toward him. “Little Brother Youlin, how naughty of you.”

He could touch her, but never her token.

“Naughty children need to be taught a lesson~” Yu Changying slowly raised her left arm and aimed at Zhuge Youlin. With a click, a mechanism instantly encased it.

Her gaze deepened, and her voice turned cold. “I’m in a very bad mood right now.”

Zhuge Youlin’s eyes widened in amazement. He gave her a thumbs-up. “Impressive! That mechanical arm is incredible! Can you make one for me? And could you do it for free?”

Yu Changying stared at him.

Was he insane?

Just then—

Shen Yan and Jiang Xianyue were forced back several steps at once.

Wen Yuchu’s music was strongly affecting Jiang Xianyue and Xiao Zechuan’s emotions, making their combat strength unstable.

The fight remained undecided for a long time.

Jiang Xianyue was nearly on the verge of losing control.

Shen Yan’s eyes darkened. She had to find a way to interrupt Wen Yuchu’s playing!

She rapidly formed a summoning seal, her red lips moving.

“Heed my summons—souls emerge, ghosts appear!”
