The First Summoner - Chapter 65
The instant Shen Yan spoke, danger rushed toward her.
Too fast!
She could not dodge.
A large hand closed around her throat, stealing her breath.
“Master, get out of here!” The Ninefold Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, thrown into a distant corner, transformed into human form and cried out anxiously.
Shen Yan’s face paled. To break free, she kicked mercilessly toward her attacker’s lower body.
His tail wrapped around her foot and left it suspended in midair.
“I’ll save you, Master!”
Ninefold suppressed their terror, flashed forward, and smashed the pagoda toward the arm choking Shen Yan.
Before they could touch him, another tail sent them flying.
Bang!
Ninefold struck the ground and coughed up blood.
At the critical moment, Shen Yan summoned the Crimson Flame Dagger and slashed the arm holding her.
The blade tore flesh.
Pain forced him to release her.
Gasping, Shen Yan stared in disbelief.
Feng Xingyao’s pupils had turned dark red. His gaze was cold, bloodthirsty, and dangerously seductive. His black hair was now silver, cascading over his shoulders, and a cruel smile curled his lips. His already bewitching features now possessed an indescribably bold, magnificent beauty.
Nine white tails swayed behind him.
The sight was utterly mesmerizing.
Even the word bewitching was not enough to describe him now.
He raised his wounded hand and licked the cut. Blood stained his lips, making him appear even more alluring.
The gesture resembled a fox tending its wound.
Was Feng Xingyao a demon?
Shen Yan had no time to think. He had lost all reason, and survival demanded that she leave the ability space.
He gave her no chance.
A fox tail wrapped around her body and dragged her into his arms.
Shen Yan struggled, only to collide against his chest. His pressure immobilized her completely.
He leaned close and breathed in her scent.
“Feng Xingyao, are you still conscious?”
He raised those mesmerizing crimson eyes and stared at her, utterly inscrutable.
Shen Yan forced herself through the pressure and drove the Crimson Flame Dagger toward his abdomen.
An icy hand caught her wrist.
She could move no farther.
She tried to strike with her knee, but his other hand pinned it down.
His gaze grew increasingly dangerous. He abruptly bit into the hollow of her neck, sharp teeth piercing flesh.
Shen Yan groaned in pain.
He was drinking her blood!
“Feng Xingyao, are you a demon or a vampire?!”
He did not hear her and continued feeding.
Ninefold’s small face turned white. Forcing themselves to calm down, they secretly discussed a plan with Shen Yan through voice transmission.
Clang.
The Crimson Flame Dagger fell.
Shen Yan met Ninefold’s eyes, then deliberately relaxed to lower Feng Xingyao’s guard.
“Master,” Ninefold transmitted timidly, “hold him tightly and draw all his attention.”
Shen Yan had no words.
Her lips pale, she abruptly wrapped both arms around his waist.
Feng Xingyao seemed to stiffen—or perhaps he did not.
Enduring the pain, Shen Yan said, “You drank my blood, Feng Xingyao. You owe me three requests!”
“Silence means you agree.”
“Three, two, one…”
Bang!
The pagoda struck his head hard.
His body went limp and collapsed against Shen Yan, leaving no space between them.
He was heavy enough to make breathing difficult. She released his waist and shoved him away.
Feng Xingyao hit the ground without ceremony.
Ninefold stared in terror, the hand holding the pagoda trembling even harder.
“Master, it’s over! I hit the great demon king! When he wakes, he’ll kill me! You have to protect me!”
Shen Yan touched the bite. Blood still flowed.
“He tried to kill us first. We defended ourselves. Come apply medicine and stop the bleeding.”
Weakness spread through her. Had she possessed the strength, she would have stabbed Feng Xingyao several times.
“Right away, Master!”
Ninefold dropped the pagoda and hurried over. Shen Yan sat while they treated the wound.
“He’s horrible!” Ninefold complained angrily.
“Is he a demon?”
Guilt flickered across Ninefold’s face. “K-kind of.”
“A divine beast—a Nine-Tailed Fox?”
“Uh… I don’t really know. H-he never told me. Yes, that’s it.”
Ninefold clearly refused to tell the truth.
Shen Yan looked at Feng Xingyao. He had returned to normal. His silver hair was black, and all nine tails had vanished as though they never existed.
Her blood still stained his lips, but with his eyes closed, he resembled a cold, ascetic beauty.
“How long have you followed him?”
Ninefold considered seriously. “Not a short time, but not a long time either.”
“What does that mean?”
They pouted. “A very, very long time ago, I stayed beside him. Then he vanished for a very, very long time, and only recently did I return. But you’re my master now.”
“Where were you while he was gone?”
“I don’t know. I think I slept most of the time.”
Shen Yan asked no more. She cast Feng Xingyao an unreadable glance.
An old fox indeed.
…
Once her wound was bandaged, she crouched beside him and studied him for several seconds. In the end, she kindly dragged him onto the couch.
