The Loyal Hound's Rose - Chapter 2
I’d come with a mission.
Before I arrived, Zhao Shu had told me two things.
“Watch him. Don’t let him sleep with anyone else. And don’t you fall in love with him.”
I kept a close watch on Liu Qin.
He slept all day and didn’t head out with anyone until evening.
He put on a handsome suit, styled his hair, and even sprayed on cologne.
Liu Qin had a bad habit: he didn’t like taking anyone with him when he went out.
After I kidnapped him that one time, he learned his lesson and started bringing a bodyguard.
But only one.
So he’d learned a very small lesson.
The bodyguard followed behind him. I stood by the door, judged the angle, and tripped the man. He smashed face-first into the steps and couldn’t get up for a good while.
I helped him to his feet. “You all right, buddy?”
My good buddy’s face was covered in blood. “You…”
Ever considerate, I let go. “Got it. I’ll take the assignment for you.”
My good buddy hit the ground again. “…”
Liu Qin was already waiting in the car.
When I opened the door, he gave me a listless glance and turned his head away.
Two seconds later, he turned back. He looked me up and down, reached out, seized both drawstrings of my hoodie, and yanked hard.
The collar cinched tight enough to make me cough.
“Why is it you?” he asked darkly. “Where’s Xiao Hei?”
“He twisted his ankle.”
Liu Qin let go, smiling without warmth. “If we go out like this, I’ll look like your father.”
I loosened the drawstrings and compared his suit and slicked-back hair with my cartoon hoodie and sweatpants.
Tsk.
Hardly.
He had a young face.
Liu Qin went to a nightclub. I had no idea what business he was discussing, but they called in a crowd of men and women.
I sat off to one side and drank three glasses of white peach juice.
Liu Qin was plied with three bottles of liquor. Then the white client across from him started touching him.
An arm around his shoulders.
Liu Qin didn’t react.
A hand on his thigh.
Still no reaction.
Then the man started undoing Liu Qin’s buttons.
Liu Qin lounged against the sofa, smoking, and slowly blew a stream toward the ceiling.
Still nothing.
If he stayed still much longer, the two of them were going to turn the private room into a hotel room.
I didn’t care if they got a room. The problem was that Zhao Shu would go insane, and then I’d die on this island.
I carried my white peach juice over and wedged my ass between them.
I smiled at the white man. “Come on, boss. I’ll drink with you.”
The man rattled off a string of gibberish. Liu Qin replied with two words.
The white man’s face lit with understanding.
Neither of us could understand a word the other said, but we had a great time trading drink for drink.
Liu Qin sat beside me with his head propped on one hand, pouring for me. He looked like he was enjoying himself too.
After a while, I started to feel numb.
All the blood in my body was rushing south.
Something was wrong.
No question about it.
The white man grew more enthusiastic. He kept pressing himself against me, breathing liquor fumes all over my face.
He squeezed my thigh hard. I jolted to my feet and punched him in the face, dropping him flat.
Liu Qin jumped. “What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
I pressed my lips together. “He grabbed my thigh.”
Liu Qin stared at me for a moment. Then he covered his face and shook with laughter.
“Fuck. Where did you come from, you absolute freak?”
He scooped up his coat and stood. “What are you staring at? Run.”
