For some reason, Liu Qin wanted very little to do with me after we came back from that drunken night.

He specifically told the shift supervisor not to let me accompany him.

I’d blacked out that night. I worried at the few memories I had left, but I still couldn’t figure out how I’d offended him.

Hadn’t he been smiling as he poured my drinks?

I went three days without even catching a glimpse of Liu Qin. When Zhao Shu called, I couldn’t give him a damn thing. I hung my head and took the abuse.

“Song Heng, if you can’t keep an eye on him, you’ll never leave that island.”

Annoying.

Zhao Shu annoyed me.

So did Liu Qin.

Every last one of these godforsaken gays was fucking insane.

They assigned me to guard the gate of Liu Qin’s villa. He didn’t come home for five straight days.

A coworker said that if Liu Qin wasn’t at the casino, he was drinking somewhere.

If he wasn’t busy fucking someone, he was busy getting fucked.

I pinched my fingers together.

I didn’t like hearing that.

What did he mean, busy getting fucked?

Liu Qin’s men had a strange way of talking about him.

“Who on the island doesn’t know he sold his ass to get where he is? God knows how many people he had to sleep with to reach that position.”

“That whore will take anyone. He even slept with a few of his own men. Been fucked loose by now. Tsk, but looking the way he does, who wouldn’t want to try out Boss Liu’s skills? I hear he’s got plenty of special tricks…”

He looked me over and squeezed out a suggestive smile.

“Buddy, I bet you could do it. You look like Boss Liu’s type. If he picks you one day, come tell us what it was like. Let us know if the boss is as pale all over as he looks…”

It made me sick.

These people were all fucking diseased, lusting after another man.

Any random person could fantasize about Liu Qin.

I cut him off irritably. “Leave me out of it. I’m not interested.”

Why would Liu Qin ever pick me?

“How can you not be interested? Who on this island doesn’t want a round with Boss Liu?”

“I don’t,” I said. “He’s dirty.”

The moment the words left my mouth, a car burst from the darkness and cut through the roaring rain before stopping at the gate.

The chattering bodyguard beside me wiped the smirk from his face and stood straight.

The driver got out with an umbrella and opened the door.

Wrapped in a black overcoat, Liu Qin stepped from the car and leaned on the driver as he walked slowly to the entrance.

He stopped beside me.

He carried the dampness of rain and the metallic sweetness of blood.

I stole a look at him.

Certain he wouldn’t notice.

Liu Qin was six feet tall, four inches shorter than me.

I took shameless advantage of that.

From my angle, I could see his wet black hair, raindrops trembling at the ends.

His thin, pale chin. The pink tip of his nose. His crimson lips, and the small cut on one of them.

That meant someone had violated that mouth not long ago.

Hard.

Brutally.

They would have swallowed both his saliva and his blood.

He really was rotten.

He let anyone treat him that way.

I looked away.

Liu Qin’s long, pale hand reached toward me and brushed across my waist.

My body went rigid. Before I could react, he had pulled the gun from the back of my waistband.

A soft shot rang out, and the lively coworker beside me fell silent.

His blood splashed across my face.

Warm.

Liu Qin lowered his eyes. He hooked a finger into my belt and slowly tucked the gun into the front of my waistband. His voice was quiet, carrying just the right amount of rasp.

“Next time you talk shit about me, keep your voice down.”
