The Master Sees Barrage Comments - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
When I woke up again, it was dusk.
Outside the window, the evening light was vast and lonely.
A youth in white pushed open the door. The fading rays of the setting sun draped over him, outlining a blurry yet elegant silhouette.
“Yuqing, how long have I been asleep?”
I rested my chin on my hand, my eyes still hazy with sleep.
“In response to Master, it has only been three days.”
His voice was cool, gentle, and pleasant to the ear.
“Three days?!”
I snapped awake instantly.
“I actually slept that long this time?”
“It was not long,” Shen Yuqing countered softly.
He knelt down to help me put on my shoes.
I rubbed my stomach.
It felt empty; I was a bit hungry.
“Good Yuqing, I want to eat fish.”
“Tomorrow, Master.”
“Why?”
“Because I made Dongpo pork today.”
The bullet screen was utterly shocked:
[I didn’t expect the male lead to know how to cook?]
[He definitely does. Shen Yuqing has known how to please Master since he was a child. From laundry to cooking, he does everything personally.]
[Well played, Shen Yuqing. You’ve maxed out the ‘house-husband’ attribute, haven’t you? A ‘black-bellied’ schemer under a gentle exterior-Master’s happiness +1.]
[Questioning Master, understanding Master…]
I, however, was curious. “Where did you buy it?”
Shen Yuqing stood up and replied obediently, “While patrolling the mountain yesterday, I encountered a lost old man. After leading him out of the mountains, he gave me some meat.”
“And you accepted it?”
“Yes.”
Shen Yuqing nodded, then added, “His hospitality was hard to refuse. However, I left silver and a letter on his heated brick bed.”
“It wouldn’t have mattered even if you hadn’t paid.”
I got out of bed and approached him, meeting Yuqing’s eyes. “After all, when one receives a favor, one should repay it manifold.”
I spoke with hidden meaning.
Forced back against the wall by my advance, Shen Yuqing lowered his phoenix eyes, avoiding my gaze. “Except for that one thing.”
“What thing?”
I feigned ignorance.
He remained silent.
“You really can’t offer yourself to me in gratitude?”
My gaze was pitiful, filled with regret.
Shen Yuqing pursed his lips and reminded me indifferently:
“Master, we are master and disciple.”
I huffed, dissatisfied with that reasoning. “You were the one who knelt on the ground the moment you saw me to perform the apprenticeship rites. I never intended to take you as a disciple in the first place.”
His fingers tightened inside his sleeves. He looked up at me, his voice carrying an imperceptible tremor beneath its calm surface:
“Then what did you intend to do at the beginning?
“Does Master regret taking me as a disciple?
“Or… were you never willing at all?”
[Uh? Are you sure this Shen Yuqing is normal?]
[Throwing out three rhetorical questions with such a gentle and calm tone-is he a hidden psycho? Master must be under a lot of pressure.]
[So! Right now, he likes Master, right?! Right!!! Is he just afraid and unwilling to admit it, playing the whole ‘angsty literature’ trope?]
[Lol, the male lead is the only one being angsty. Master, promise me, if you say yes, we’ll get a broken Shen Yuqing. He’ll definitely make sure you can’t get out of bed.]
But clearly, I disappointed the bullet screen.
Because I replied to Yuqing with three words: “Child bridegroom.”
He froze, stiffly dodging my touch as he averted his eyes. “Master, the food is getting cold.”
He brushed past me.
The sense of him fleeing in a panic was incredibly obvious.
