The Prisoner Was Wrong - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I imprisoned Pei Yu.
Because he was the obsessive second male lead in a melodramatic novel.
Later in the story, he would imprison the female lead and wedge himself into the romance between her and the male lead.
That was absolutely not okay, because the female lead in this story was my sister. My sister was so good to me. There was no way I could let her fall into the hands of a creep like that.
Since he liked the whole imprisonment routine so much, surely he wouldn’t mind being on the receiving end for once.
And so, on a dark and stormy night, I knocked Pei Yu out and brought him home.
At this critical point in time, my sister had just started dating the male lead, who had more money than sense. Three months later, Pei Yu would return to the country and meet my sister.
Then he would fall in love with her at first sight and imprison her.
But now that I had imprisoned Pei Yu instead, according to the butterfly effect, this should be enough to change the direction of the story.
Although I had no idea why Pei Yu, who was supposed to return three months later, had already shown up in the country.
Whatever. The fact that he was back made it even easier for me to imprison him.
When Pei Yu first woke up, he still seemed a little unclear on the situation.
It wasn’t until the chain around his wrist shifted with a soft clink that he seemed to come fully awake.
In the darkness, he narrowed his eyes, his expression perfectly calm.
Then he lifted his head and located the camera on the ceiling beam with unerring accuracy.
“What do you want?”
I watched him through the surveillance feed and spoke through an electronically distorted voice. “To imprison you, of course, Mr. Pei Yu.”
Pei Yu froze for a moment, then said, “How much ransom do you want? I can give you a number. Once you call it, you’ll receive the money within twenty-four hours.”
“No, no, no. This isn’t a kidnapping, and I don’t want your money. I’m just imprisoning you.”
Pei Yu pressed his lips together and said nothing. After a long while, he lowered his head, curled up on the floor, and closed his eyes to sleep.
I stared blankly for a second. I hadn’t expected him to adapt so quickly.
The next day, I pushed the door open and stepped inside. The chain scraped against the floor as Pei Yu sat up.
There were still faint red marks on his fair face from sleeping on the hard floor.
Wearing a mask, I pushed lunch over to him.
Then I typed on my phone and showed it to him: “This is your lunch. Eat it.”
Pei Yu looked at me, his eyes pitch-black.
In the end, though, he obediently picked up the food and ate it slowly, chewing each bite with care.
For several days in a row, Pei Yu remained extremely calm.
He never asked any unnecessary questions, either. He simply stayed quiet and let me arrange everything.
The room was small, but it had all the necessary facilities.
The chain was just long enough to reach the bathroom, satisfying all his basic needs.
On the sixth day, Pei Yu finally spoke.
After going so long without talking, his voice was a little hoarse and low. “Can I have a book?”
Then he lowered his eyes, putting on a pitiful expression. “I’m too bored.”
“Of course. But in exchange, you have to do my homework for me.”
Pei Yu looked up at me, a trace of shock in his eyes. Perhaps he hadn’t expected me to still be a student.
He nodded, which counted as agreement.
The next day, I brought him several novels. While I was at it, I also handed him a PowerPoint assignment.
Only after I watched him finish it on the computer did I place one of the novels in his hands.
Pei Yu had always been quiet and rarely made requests.
At least, that was how he had been a month ago.
After that, he started making small requests from time to time.
For example, he said the toothbrush in the bathroom needed to be replaced and asked if I could give him one with soft bristles.
He flashed two rows of white teeth at me and said, “This toothbrush is too hard. My gums are bleeding.”
Behind my mask, I laughed softly, then typed a message for him to see: “Sure. But you have to do another assignment for me.”
Pei Yu nodded obediently.
