I transmigrated into a world of beastfolk and got taken home by a gloomy octopus man.

His hair changed color with his mood.

Hairless animals came next, then birds.

Today was my third day in this world.

I was so hungry!

Every restaurant and snack shop chased me away the moment they saw I was human.

“Get lost. Where did this filthy stray human come from?”

The garbage cans were huge and sealed tight. I couldn’t get into them.

The hunger was unbearable.

I crouched outside an upscale restaurant and stared at a family of pig beastfolk who had just come out.

The family of three was round and roly-poly, short and plump, with pig ears and curly pig tails.

Each of them carried fragrant roasted meat.

I crept along behind them, praying one of their hands would slip.

I was happily lost in that fantasy when I looked up and realized all three of them were staring at me.

My whole body went rigid. Suddenly, someone grabbed the back of my collar and lifted me off the ground.

“Sorry. She’s my pet.”

I swayed around in midair until I found myself facing the man behind me.

Unlike the other beastfolk, the man before me had no animal features at all.

Nor did he have the deep-set features common among them.

He had black hair, pale skin, thin red lips, a high nose, monolids, and softly parted, tousled bangs.

His skin and lips looked so… soft. So kissable.

Even with my face inches from his, I couldn’t see a single pore.

I stared at him blankly. “Are you an idol?”

He was handsome enough to break into K-pop barefaced.

He gave me a strange look. He probably hadn’t understood.

“My name is Xu Bai.”

“Those three were porcine beastfolk. They like eating humans more than anything.”

“What they were carrying just now was human—”

I clapped a hand over his mouth. “That’s enough. I don’t want to hear it.”

“Mm.”

He set me down. “Remember to stay away from carnivores in the future.”

Then he turned and walked away.

But I wasn’t about to let him go.

He looked soft, like an easygoing meal ticket with long-term potential.

“Hey.” I trotted after him. “What kind of beastman are you? Why can’t I see any of your animal features?”

From what I had observed, beastfolk took pride in the traits of their animal forms.

They usually kept whichever feature they liked best on display.

But he didn’t show a single one.

Xu Bai stopped and answered reluctantly, “An octopus prince.”

I blinked. “Octopus balls?”

“Do you have any? Can I have a bite?”

“I’m so hungry, boohoo.”

Right on cue, my stomach growled twice.

He stared at me for a long moment, at a loss for words, then finally sighed. “If you really want to eat me, all right.”

Xu Bai drove me home with him.

He seemed to live in an expensive residential complex. Every beastman coming and going was dressed to the nines.

Walking toward us was a CEO in a suit with wolf ears on his head.

He carried a beautiful young human woman in his arms. Stopping in front of us, he studied me with interest.

“Well, Xu Bai. Decided to keep a human too?”

“She’s filthy. A stray, I take it?”

“None of your business.” Without betraying any emotion, Xu Bai took my hand, displeasure in his voice.

“Poor little thing.” The wolf-eared CEO bent down and reached out to pinch my cheek.

“Gu Yuan.” Xu Bai stepped in front of me, blocking both his hand and his view. “What do you think you’re doing?”

Gu Yuan shrugged. “Nothing. I just feel sorry for the little stray.”

“You know how humans hate those misshapen things that live in dark corners more than anything.”

“Don’t you, baby?” Gu Yuan bounced the human in his arms.

“Mm-hmm!” The woman nodded hard and looked at Xu Bai. “Disgusting!”

Xu Bai’s expression did not change.

But behind his back, his hand instinctively loosened around mine.

Gu Yuan arched a brow. “Has this little stray seen your true form?”

“Bet you scared her to tears.”

Now I was getting angry.

“What are you two babbling about, Gan Jiang and Mo Ye?”

“Whether I’ve seen it is none of your damn business.”

I gripped Xu Bai’s hand. “Get lost! You’re blocking the way!”

I was starving, damn it.

I had octopus balls to eat.
