There was no backing out now. The arrow was already on the string.

After giving myself a long pep talk, I approached at a tortoise’s pace, arms and legs barely coordinating.

I was still desperately nervous. “If he kills me with one punch, do I get to restart?” I asked inside my head. “Does your system have one of those watch-an-ad-to-revive offers?”

【Who gives a damn? Just go for it, Host.】

【This system has safeguards for your life. You won’t die.】

My heart sank. So I would probably end up a vegetable. A vegetable dragon.

Trembling all over, I stopped ten paces away from him and recited the stale opening line I had rehearsed dozens of times.

“Y-y-y-young master, h-have we met somewhere before?”

I stammered hopelessly from nerves.

Situ Qianyin said nothing. He merely turned his head, gave me an exceedingly cold glance, and looked away again.

“…”

“System, see? He won’t even acknowledge me.”

【I wouldn’t be so sure. He took one look at you and couldn’t tear his eyes away.】

I stood there in mortified silence, toes curling against the ground. I couldn’t decide whether leaving or staying would be worse.

Then the system thundered, 【The nerve! I’ll shock him for you!】

I thought it was bluffing. The next instant, Situ Qianyin’s body jerked.

He whipped around, eyes full of vigilance. In his fury, his lips curved into a chilling smile. “A mere worm dares play tricks before me?”

My knees nearly gave out. I screamed for the system inside my head. 【System! Run!】

It ignored me. 【Impudent overpowered hero! I’ll shock you again!】

Situ Qianyin convulsed a second time.

【Host, repeat what you said.】

I was too stunned to think. Like an NPC stuck on one line, I repeated, “Young master, have we met somewhere before?”

Situ Qianyin refused to answer. The system shocked him again.

He was shocked. He resisted. He fought back. Then he ran out of options.

After the fifth jolt, Situ Qianyin fixed me with a blazing stare and forced the words through clenched teeth.

“Yes. We have.”

He walked toward me one step at a time. Only then did I realize how much taller he was.

“When we were children, you lived in your home and I in mine,” he said without expression. “Perhaps we met in a dream.”

I called frantically to the system. “What do I say next?”

【Improvise. As if I couldn’t handle this brat.】

It was already drunk on its own triumph.

“Wow.” I peeked up at Situ Qianyin. “Th-then we must be fated.”

He cut straight to the point. “What do you want?”

The system wants me to seduce you.

Naturally, I couldn’t say that.

Instead, I put it delicately. “I only… wanted to meet you.”

“Is that so?” His voice remained cool. “What is the thing inside your mind?”

He had seen through me at once. I panicked. “System, are you reliable at all?”

The system was perfectly calm. 【Doesn’t matter. Watch me taunt him.】

An extremely punchable face appeared inside my head.

Situ Qianyin’s expression shifted, but he said nothing. He simply watched me, apparently waiting for an explanation.

I had no idea how to introduce the thing. Shock Boy? Electric Eel? Kennen, the Heart of the Tempest? That infamous electroshock doctor Yang Yongxin?

“I’m… not entirely sure either,” I mumbled.

【Tell him I’ve come to deliver his wife and defend his love.】

Ignoring the deranged system, I cautiously studied Situ Qianyin’s face.

There was nothing to study. He had no expression at all.

“I’m not interested in ants,” he said, then turned to leave.

【Follow him, Host. You need to stay together for affection to grow over time.】

“I don’t want to. He insulted me.” I hesitated. “If I refuse, will you shock me too?”

【Possibly~】

My skin was far too delicate to survive an electric shock. Gritting my teeth, I followed him.

“It told me to follow you,” I said, shifting the blame where it belonged. “Young master, do you need a traveling companion?”

He stopped and regarded me coldly over his shoulder. “I need a servant.”

I froze.

The system roared, 【Cease your insolence!】

Situ Qianyin suddenly frowned and grunted. He had evidently received another shock.

A moment later, he stalked toward me with a dark expression and put a hand on my shoulder.

I stood rigid, not daring to move.

My vision blurred. When it cleared, the seashore was gone.
