The Villain Is Pregnant with My Baby - Chapter 2
My job was to collect human trash from the waters outside the dome and keep the ocean clean.
In other words, I was a janitor.
But honest work was honest work. Getting paid was what mattered, and with eight tentacles, my efficiency was unbeatable.
After working day and night, I finally saved enough to move.
“Last day! Once I’m in the villa district, I’m finding a new job!”
I freed one tentacle to wipe nonexistent sweat from my forehead. Just as I turned back, the water began churning violently.
The garbage I had gathered slammed into me from every direction, and a whirlpool sent me tumbling.
“Crap! I forgot—the heroine falls into the sea today!”
This was the freak shipwreck that killed every human aboard except Bai Xiaohua and forced diplomacy between humans and the sea folk to a halt.
“I should’ve checked the almanac before leaving home! Am I going to die here?”
Bubbles streamed from my mouth as the current swept me away. Damn that author! I had only just saved enough money!
There was nothing underwater to brace against. Worse, a sharp engine blade severed one of my tentacles. The sinking liner had to be nearby.
So without a protagonist’s plot armor, there really was no changing fate?
At the height of my despair, an outstretched tentacle wrapped around a warm body.
Holy crap. After hauling trash for so long, I had finally caught a person.
It couldn’t be Bai Xiaohua, could it? What rotten luck.
I tried to throw them away, but they clung tightly to my tentacle. Unable to shake them loose, I wrapped all my remaining limbs around the person and curled into a ball to reduce the impact of the current.
Thankfully, the sea gradually calmed.
Dragging the stranger with me, I climbed onto a piece of the liner’s wreckage. The once magnificent ship had been torn apart, and even the floating debris would soon lose its trapped air and sink.
By moonlight, I finally saw the lucky survivor. His immaculate suit was soaked through, his handsome face deathly pale. A bloody wound split the faintly rising curve of his abdomen.
I recognized him.
Wasn’t this Ian, Chief Diplomat of the sea folk? The devoted second male lead who would one day perform an egg-laying scene with the heroine?
What was he doing here?
