The Villain Quits - Chapter 4

Chapter 4

When we met again, my brother’s attitude toward Xie Yu’an had indeed improved significantly.

At the very least, he wasn’t being as prickly or sarcastic anymore.

During PE class, I took the opportunity to nudge them into playing basketball together.

I pulled my brother aside and whispered, “Bro, you’re so skilled. Xie Yu’an is new here and doesn’t know the ropes yet. If you show him the way, he’ll definitely look up to you!”

My brother’s ego immediately inflated, and he lifted his chin confidently.

“Don’t worry. Just watch me work.”

Then, I pulled Xie Yu’an to the side.

“Deskmate, you know my brother’s always been a bit… slow. I’m worried something might happen to him. Could you keep an eye on him for me? Please?”

Xie Yu’an nodded.

“Understood.”

Relieved, I trotted off to the vending machine on the other side of the field to buy some water, feeling quite satisfied with myself.

When I returned, I saw my brother and Xie Yu’an colliding and both crashing to the ground.

…I was only gone for a minute!

And aren’t you guys on the same team?!

Speechless, I rushed forward toward Xie Yu’an.

“Xie Yu’an, are you okay…”

Behind me, my brother’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he roared, “Shen Sui!”

I slammed on the brakes, spun around, and helped my brother up.

“Are you okay, Brother? I was so worried…”

“You little heartless thing, that’s more like it,” my brother huffed with a smirk. He leaned his weight on me to stand up, his brow furrowed in pain.

It looked like it really hurt.

I looked down to check the wound.

The wound…

I couldn’t find a wound.

I looked at my brother in disbelief, but his pained expression didn’t seem fake at all.

Uh.

Maybe it was an internal injury.

I helped my brother take a few steps, intending to ask someone else to help Xie Yu’an, when I saw a figure rushing over.

I froze for a moment.

I remembered now.

That was Jiang Ning, the female lead of this book-the girl who had grown up in the same orphanage as Xie Yu’an.

And today was the day of their reunion after years apart.

Jiang Ning pushed through the crowd and knelt down.

“Don’t move. Let me see if anything’s broken.”

Before she could even touch Xie Yu’an’s pant leg, he suddenly scrambled up from the ground. His movements were so agile that there wasn’t a single sign of injury.

Xie Yu’an said expressionlessly, “I’m fine.”

Jiang Ning was dumbfounded. “If you’re fine, why were you sitting on the ground for so long?”

Her gaze flickered between me and my brother, then back to Xie Yu’an, who was pretending to be an innocent bystander. She realized what was happening.

“One total poser.”

“And what about you? If your bone is out of place, don’t try to be a hero and walk to the infirmary yourself.”

As Jiang Ning spoke, she walked over and rolled up my brother’s pant leg. After staring at it for a while, she asked in confusion, “Where’s the injury?”

She stood up straight, having realized the truth once more. “Two total posers.”
