Chapter 3

Fine. So we were doing this the hard way, huh?

I swept a glance over the Crown Prince. “Nonsense. I’m very greedy. I don’t just want money. I want men too.”

His face turned red.

“Send me ten male companions.”

His face turned green.

“They have to be handsome, strong, from clean family backgrounds, gentle and considerate, understanding…”

His expression darkened into a whole spectrum of colors.

[Stop talking, girl! This dude’s about to grind his molars to dust!]

[In the original plot, the Crown Prince got jealous and spent ten days and ten nights in the bridal chamber with the younger sister without coming out. All I can say is, sis, leave yourself a way out. Loose lips bring disaster!]

[Am I the only one who noticed the younger sister hiding in the corner and silently eating popcorn? screenshot.jpg]

What?! My sister was watching the show?!

Scorched by my burning gaze, Su Fuqing could no longer keep hiding.

She mussed up a few strands of hair, flattened the corners of her smiling mouth, then ran out sobbing and threw her arms around me.

“Siiiis, I was so scared. Thank goodness you were here.”

The corner of my mouth twitched.

So both of you were here to put on a show for me, huh?

I was tired.

Let’s go home, kid.

Before the Crown Prince left, he yanked the jade pendant from his waist and forcibly stuffed it into my hand. “With this jade pendant, you may withdraw money from any bank at any time. As for the male companions… I! Will! Do! My! Best!”

He bit down especially hard on those last words, and somehow all I could hear between the syllables was: I’ll kill them all. That chilly little look in his eyes made my heart flutter with unease.

After we returned to the manor, I was afraid Su Fuqing might misunderstand.

So I explained to her that today’s encounter with the Crown Prince had been a complete coincidence, and that she didn’t need to pay me any mind.

Generally speaking, aside from occasionally being blind enough to mistake one person for another, being shameless when he spoke, and running into danger a bit too often, the Crown Prince was excellent in every other regard. He was worthy of my sister.

I told her to get along with him properly.

But Su Fuqing looked troubled. “Forget it, Sis. I don’t like the Crown Prince. Our statuses are too different. I’m not good enough for him.”

I was furious. “Who says you’re not good enough? Has someone been wagging their tongue and bullying you again? Bringing up that nonsense about legitimate and concubine-born daughters? We don’t do that in this family! Straighten your back. Whoever cursed you, I’ll go whip her for you!”

The whip at my waist was practically itching to move.

“No one did. It’s just that there really isn’t anything between me and the Crown Prince. We’re innocent.”

I said nothing more.

Maybe, just like the barrage said, my sister was still in that shy young-girl state where she was embarrassed to admit she had someone she liked.

Or maybe the male and female leads’ romance simply hadn’t reached its climax yet.

Either way, it had nothing to do with me, the vicious supporting female character.

Oh, wait. No. It could still be forced to have something to do with me.

After all, even going out for a casual stroll had led to me running into him.

I decided that until my sister and the Crown Prince’s relationship got on the right track, I would stay home, tend to flowers and plants, and cultivate my mind and character.

While I was at it, I would wait for those ten male companions to show up at my door.

Half a month later.

The flowers I raised had all bloomed, but the promised male companions hadn’t even cast a shadow!

The barrage was no help either.

They would rather make something like [Flower Observation Diary, Day xx] than pay attention to how my sister and the Crown Prince were progressing.

This wouldn’t do. If I couldn’t get the men, I had to get the money, right?

I dug that jade pendant out from the corner. After thinking it over, I picked up that pot of flowers too.

Mm. After withdrawing the money, I would go to the clinic.

I would show off to my sister, who somehow managed to kill every plant she raised.

And while I was at it, I would check on her progress with the Crown Prince.
