The Wicked Side Character’s Guide to Seducing the Male Lead - Chapter 2
“Ugh.”
Looking at Xuan Yi meditating nearby, I couldn’t help sighing.
Being taught by him personally had cost me an awful lot of freedom.
At first, I merely wasn’t allowed to fool around—no, wait, socialize—with the outer disciples.
Then Xuan Yi discovered I was conspiring with my senior brothers and sisters in the inner sect to shirk our training. He cast a spell that confined me to his side. I couldn’t go beyond a radius of three zhang, roughly ten meters.
With me trapped beside him, none of the others dared come to see me. They’d even left me out of the training trip down the mountain we’d planned. There went most of my fun.
I looked at Xuan Yi’s handsome, refined face and sighed again.
He was wonderful in every way except one: he was far too rigid. He treated Master’s words like an imperial decree.
“What are you thinking about, Little Junior Sister?”
“You, Eldest Senior Brother…” And how to get you to leave me alone.
I shut my mouth before finishing the thought. At some point, he’d opened his eyes. Meeting them, I gave an awkward smile.
“Finished cultivating for today?”
Perhaps I imagined it, but a trace of amusement seemed to flicker in his eyes. When I looked more closely, it was gone.
“I heard you sighing. Have you reached a bottleneck in your cultivation?”
How could I reach a bottleneck when I never cultivated?
I simply couldn’t fit into the world of overachievers.
Of course, overachievers couldn’t understand the joys of being a slacker, either.
Master was in seclusion and wouldn’t be coming out anytime soon. I was beginning to look forward to the heroine’s arrival. Once she appeared, Xuan Yi wouldn’t have time to fuss over me.
Speaking of which, when exactly was she going to turn up?
Before I could answer, Xuan Yi was already standing in front of me. “Are you angry because I won’t let you leave the mountain?”
Not angry, exactly. I just didn’t particularly want to speak to him right now.
“If you want to go, I can take you.”
Delighted, I asked, “Really?”
He nodded. “It isn’t that I refuse to let you go. I’m concerned for your safety. If I take you myself, I can protect you.”
Every last trace of resentment vanished.
“Hehe. You’re the best, Eldest Senior Brother.”
Xuan Yi reached out to stroke my head. He was about to say something when a scream sounded in the distance.
It grew closer and closer.
The next instant, something smashed through the roof, leaving a huge hole, and hit the floor with a thud.
Peering out from behind Xuan Yi’s protection, I saw a girl in strange clothes sprawled on the ground. I gaped.
An entrance straight out of the sky…
Could this be the legendary heroine?!
The strangely dressed girl… squirmed a little, then opted to lie flat.
“Oh, damn. I’m dying. That hurts.”
Me: …
She’d fallen from who knew where, smashed through a roof, and was now lying in the wreckage. Of course it hurt.
Still, a heroine was a heroine. What an entrance!
I was considering whether to go over and offer my concern now, so I could cling to her powerful coattails later, when Xuan Yi caught me around the waist before I could take a step.
He turned his palm over, and a longsword appeared. “Who are you? Why are you here?”
“Eldest Senior Brother!”
I hastily grabbed his hand, terrified he might run her clean through.
Please! This was his destined heroine! Keep that up and he’d never have a wife!
“I don’t think she’s a bad person.”
Xuan Yi frowned slightly, but he put his sword away.
The girl scrambled to her feet. She stared at us for quite a while, looking both confused and excited. I didn’t understand.
“Spare me, good sir! I only ended up here because I fell. I mean no harm.”
Then she fixed her eyes on me. After a long moment, she smiled with barely contained excitement.
“Little fairy, is your name Jinhua? And is this your eldest senior brother, Xuan Yi?”
I wondered how she knew, but nodded anyway.
She grew even more excited, muttering things I couldn’t understand.
Something about crossing into something, something about a sweet exterior and a dark interior, some kind of obsession, and getting to ship a couple in person.
I didn’t understand, but that wasn’t important.
Her luck was incredible. Getting firmly on her good side couldn’t possibly hurt!
Eager to please, I took a healing pill from inside my clothes and stepped past Xuan Yi to offer it to her. “This will help with your injuries.”
“You’re so nice!”
She seized my hand, her eyes shining. “I hereby declare that from this moment on, you’re my own dear sister!”
“???”
Had I… already secured my powerful ally?
The heroine was ridiculously easy to befriend.
